“Great Potential”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2012

We stayed as a couple for two weeks from 16th August. Reception was very efficient and allocated room, 6156, had been recently refurbished and could not be faulted,
The room cleaner, never got his name, left our room very clean and tidy every day. bottles of water were left and toiletries were replenished. Towels were huge and soft, dressing gowns and slippers were provided.
The staff at this hotel were excellent, Mahmoud at the beach is a gem, always happy and keen to practice his English. The high standard of service at the beach and small pool is an example of what can be achieved with good staff.
Also taking service to the next level were the staff at the pool bar, Abo and his team were so friendly and efficient, even when 'assisting' the more enthusiastic drinkers and making sure no harm came to them. Their language skills, diplomacy and patience was extraordinary.
Lunched every day at Trade Winds down at the beach, a little haven made even better by the service from Osama, could not fault the place or the service.
Restaurant staff from May on the door to the waiters laying tables were all engaging with guests. Food was plentiful but do some guests need to waste so much? Also, I cannot understand why so much food is blatantly taken out from the restaurant Although a dress code is advertised, it is not enforced, this either wants removing or guests refused entry.
Apart from a couple of hiccups at the beginning and end of the holiday, the lobby bar worked well.
Not much bad news, the hotel appears understaffed, five stars is perhaps optimistic the General Manager is visible around the hotel but does not interact with guests.
Which leaves us perhaps with the biggest problem, diversity of guests does not always lead to a happy mix.
We were told by our Olympic rep that 'All Inclusive' would continue until we left, front desk said we could check out up to 19:00 why then were we refused a bottle of water from the lobby bar at 14:00? Only after asking the lady at the bar to contact the Food and Beverage Manager did she relent, but she was petulant enough to send it over by one of the other waiters, we were just short of a foot stamp...
To sum up....Great Staff but some poor guests who don't know how to how to conduct themselves.

Came to Egypt for the first time with my boyfriend over 4 years ago....bit of a late review, I know!
I put I went in July 2012 when in fact it was July 2008 but it wouldn't let me have that option.

But I have to say I can not wait to go back!

The hotel overall was stunning and very friendly staff all round. The pool was just what you needed to cool off in the mid day sun in the middle of July and the private beach was gorgeous. The hotel room was really nice and spacious, however we did have a few problems from our air con not working (in 40 degree heat, this is a big deal) and the water electrocuting us at random times. Had we have been there for longer then a week we would have asked to move.

The other thing which made me abit uncomfortable was the harassment of people walking around the pool trying to sell day trips and excursions. As much as i wanted to explore Egypt and do the standard tourist trips, when i was by the pool, i wanted to relax and not have to feel uncomfortable every time a person walked past. They kinda crossed the line when one guy was too persistent and actually made us go back to the hotel room in disgust.

But other than that, it was a wonderful holiday and we really want to go back.

We went scuba diving, snorkeling (recommend both) day trip to Cairo and a trip to eat dinner with the dessert people.

Couple of tips for Egypt which we found useful:

Go for two weeks or more, not one, as there is just too much do as well as actually relaxing.

Shop around in the town for deals on trips, don't go with the holiday reps who over price everything. We went to Cairo for the whole day (entry to pyramids, museum, lunch and travel) for £30 each. When the holiday reps were charging £90 each.

Go all inclusive. You save so much money! Even if you are out all the time.

There are only two phrases we learnt in Egyptian. "No Thank you" and "We/I have no money" These phrases when said in Egyptian will ensure that anyone who may be harassing you to buy something to step away and let you move on. I don't want to be horrible, as I know they have a living to make, but it was just too much in the end.

Give haggling a go, we got all our souvenirs for £20.

Buy your own water, don't take it from the tap.

Don't leave any drinks in direct sunlight for too long, it will either be baking hot when you go to drink from it, or it would have evaporated away.

Ladies AND MEN take someone pool side shoes. My boyfriend didn't and he learnt the hard when when walking back to the hotel room from the pool (amusing to watch i have to say).

Ladies, make up is useless in 40/50 degree heat. Don't bother.

The choice in food in the hotel is overwhelming, from pancakes and waffles to cheese and ham in the morning to pasta, salads and tuna steaks in the evening. The restaurants on the site were also wonderful if you don't fancy the main hotel food, and my boyfriend got to try lobster for the first time which was so good. Chips, burgers, hot dogs and ice cream are on sale all day by the pool as well as ice cream although you have eat that really quickly.

Like I say over all a fantastic trip and a wonderful hotel to stay in. Really recommend this hotel for first timers in Egypt or regular visitors :) Can't wait for our next trip

We stayed here again in June, our fourth visit and it was just as good as ever.We booked a Marine Club Room but upgraded to the Beach front before we arrived. The room was very good it was serviced by Hassam and Muhammed and they were polite and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. The beach bar was just a short walk and the staff Sharif,Hamamda,Sabry and Waleed always laughing and joking and again nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the same spot on the beach every day close to the towel hut,Tiger(Fahd),Mahmoud and Alaa kept our spot supplied with clean towels, always with a smile, chat and a joke, also we had loads of laughs the Animation Team(Kaka,Moo and Foxy. The restraunt was staffed by really fantastic people, the assistant manager Hafez,May, Mohamed and Ahmed just to mention a few were always on hand to make sure everything went smoothly, they were all very pleasnt and always had time to speak to us,the breakfast had a good selection, the same went for the evening meal, every day a different meal and a good choice(we did not have lunch as we are not big eaters). The lobby bar was very good, the staff kept coming round to make sure we always had enough to drink. The front desk staff were polite and helpful. So a big thankyou to all the staff for making our holiday so wonderful. The gardens are are a pleasure to walk though or just to sit and relax. We had such a great time and the staff were fantastic that we have booked again for 2013

We will return. The resort was everything you expect. We had a marine room so only a short stroll to the beach each day, heaven. The staff are fantastic they make it 5 star,a little tip every day makes such a difference.Mahmod on the beach had our beds waiting each morning for us.A Salam in the lobby bar was very friendly always had time for a chat, and chef Mohamed made a point of being seen in the restaurant. Food was quite edible which surprised us after reading other reviews.Plenty of choice.Just get in early as eastern europeans like there food.We found all the staff very helpful.
The only drawback is the first week we were there only one other Irish guest, second week we met one couple from Sheffield(hello Trev and Elaine) no other english speaking guests.Bit odd??Would have been nice to speak to others in the evening as you have a drink.
Over all a peaceful holiday and no clouds in the sky!!!!!!

Room Tip: Book a marine room

We (a couple and two young children) visited in Mid August and stayed for a week in a nice beach facing room. Over the stay was very nice. The room, spacious and clean, the pool - well kept with plenty of sun beds. But what makes this hotel different is the friendliness and service from the cleaners, waiters, but mainly the animation team. They went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one, Fox, Jimmy, Mohamed and the other team members were simply amazing. Their programs during the day and at night got people involved and entertained. We also booked a couple of trips from the diving club which turned out to be fantastic.

The only thing I didn't quite like is the limitations that come with an all inclusive package - no minibar (not even water); the variety of the food (the quality was decent); but worst was the disposable palstic cups you got at the beach bar - made you feel like you're in a school camp. The instant fruit drinks were also a turnoff.

I would suggest simple things that would make a difference - a few items in the mini bar, water and 2-3 chocolate bars, ditch the disposable cups, and expand the food variety a little bit. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra to come back to the hotel if these issues are addressed. Oh, and the charge for the bus to Naama is not necessary - Eur. 6 per person is a bit much, considering all previous hotels we stayed at offered the service for free.

Overall, a pleasant vacation made special by the staff.

Me and my boyfriend stay there for one week, and we really enjoyed it. The staff was extreamly nice, the enviroment was amazing. Food was just okay, but there was a lot of kind so you can allways find something. The beach is really quiet, you can relax as much as you want. The center is kinda far. Not many russians, more italian and english, which is good.

Room Tip: Ask for the superior room next to the beach! It's amazing!

First time in Sharm and chose hotel due to stay in Cairo and Paris. Hotel was wonderful we had 2 Marine Club room which were fine everything that we could want. The Staff where excellent even with the rude eastern European majority the few Brits where warmly welcomed and we have to mention Abd Salam and Marwa in the Loby bar. Magdy, AbouELmagd, Taha, Sabry and Mohamen in the azure Bar. kaka, Mizo, Mou, Jimmy Fox and Alex who entertained par exalance. haitham who ensured that we had our sun beds with fresh towels every day. mahmoud who made up our room to perfection daily. Gamel, Rammadan and AbdELzeim who ensured that every visit to the restaurant was perfect. A special thanks to Karem and Jana from the Coral Diving School who introduced our kids to diving, thank you. The staff made our holiday, together with beautiful surroundings, but they made for a truly relaxing break. Overall the holiday was all we wanted and was special; the hotel staff are excellent and really made our stay that bit extra. The onsite photographer took some amazing family pictures and not to expensive. We are looking forward to returning in the spring.
