I can't recommend Egypt highly enough for anyone wanting a winter shot of guaranteed sunshine at great value and convenience. Yes it's a five hour flight to Sharm El Sheik from the UK and Ireland but our hotel, the Radisson Blu, was just 15 mins from the airport and we were on the beach enjoying 24degrees of sunshine the same day we left a rain soaked Ireland.

We had booked a room with a sea view for about an extra €100. I think all the rooms here are good so it made no difference to me but it pleased the wife that when we awoke each morning we could both hear and see the sea less than 100 metres away or head for one of a number of swimming pools which was barely 50 metres from the foot of our bed.the beach by the way has its own pier which takes you to a lovely coral reef, home to some beautiful looking fish. We snorkelled the reef for a good hour without feeling at all cold.

The service at the hotel is exceptionally good. Granted there is the feeling that its done in the hope of a tip but then what's a few bucks here and there to be thoroughly spoilt and why not do your bit to help a few Egyptians where you can in this crisis torn country?

The rooms are good. They're very clean and comfortable. They have patchy wifi available all day too! If you're English you've a limited choice of TV viewing between the highly repetitive Euronews and the marginally less repetitive BBC World.

The hotel runs an evening bus service to Naama Bay which costs €6 return leaving at 4.30pm and 7.30pm returning 3.5 hours later. This has all the souvenirs you can wish for and some fairly decent cafes and restaurants. From there you can take a taxi costing about 3 dollars to Leila Va Leila a mock Arabian style palace often stuffed full of different entertainment. If you're here to do lots of tours then talk to your holiday rep. We weren't but those we spoke to who tried a guided tour or the trip out to the desert all reported good value experiences.

The food at the hotel is not great but always good and occasionally very good bearing in mind how much we paid for the whole holiday. For the veggies it could be easily improved if they labelled better the dishes severed buffet style every day. They tend to name the main item in each dish such as "fish" or "white beans" but that doesn't mean you won't find a piece of chicken or prawns kicking about somewhere too. There's a great variety of foods on offer including lots of locally grown fruits and vegetables a few of which I'd never encountered before.

When we stayed the hotel consisted off about 10% Egyptians, 10% Brits and the rest were Russians. I have to say I like the Russians. First because I'm married to one and second because they largely keep themselves to themselves and respect other people's space.

The entertainment crew do a reasonable job but for a hotel this size I would expect the occasional visit from outside artists to provide true quality entertainment.

If its a cheap winter break you're after with guaranteed sunshine of 24 degrees plus then this hotel is hard to beat.

Dear BarryPNI,
Greetings from Radisson Blu Resort team and staff!

Thank you for sharing your experience Radisson Blu on tripadvisor .We are pleased to know that you found our staff great, the sea amazing and you enjoyed snorkeling and service exceptionally good.

Likewise, thank you for pointing out the low keys in our resort. It's important for us to know your thoughts as it helps us grow as a resort family. Without your feedback, we would not know on what area we needed to focus. We are committed to fully reviewing the circumstances that would have contributed to a less than satisfactory experience.

Again thank you for the invaluable feedback. .Thanks for visiting with us and we trust that you will consider us in your future travel plans.

This is our second trip to the Radissson blu, having returned home on the 06/02/14 after 12 days. Once again the staff and the hotel as a whole were fantastic. The food is excellent, the rooms cleaned every day, by polite staff who can't do enough to please you. Heading to a super beach where Mahmoud and the other towel staff will provide you with beds and any other assistance you require, also Fox and the rest of the animation team are constantly keeping you occupied, and are happy to chat to you, they are not pushy and if you are just quite happy to watch others participate then you can do so. The bar staff at reception area are excellent and keen to let you try their own version of cocktails. Thanks to Amwar and his staff, see you in Jan 2015. Steve and Linda x

Ok so my first review but from a well travelled couple with realistic expectations and as is human nature it had taken a not so pleasant experience to prompt a review. The hotel itself and the majority of the staff are perfectly pleasant with the exception of some occasional rude exchanges in public areas between the mainly Russian guests and staff (understandable I guess given how difficult many of the Russian guests appear to be) The all inclusive restaurant again is what you would expect, a bit repetitive but good range of fresh salads and pasta available each day and counter to some other reviews prompt table service for drinks etc.

The real reason for the lower rating is due to our experience with our room 'attendant' The same member of staff seems to be allocated to a block of rooms so on our first day we were quickly accosted by ours on leaving our room. 'Anything I can do etc etc' So far so good but now into our fifth day I can only describe our experience as something close to harassment. On second day we interrupted him cleaning room mid morning - he continued cleaning (fair enough) then came back from his trolley and presented me with 2 bathrobes (clearly not included with room) - our secret don't tell he says. OK that's nice so when he appears at door in evening with clean towels the other half gives him a nice tip. Mistake. Since then he has appeared with a very noisy trolley at our door first thing every morning and literally loitered there until one of us opens the door. Yesterday and today we've taken to putting up do not disturb sign and after making noise outside for 10 or so minutes he eventually moves to another room. Not a big deal you're thinking - however last night as has become the norm he returns multiple times to room ringing bell. Here is your missing towel, here is your water. Here are some extra tea bags. I was trying to relax in the bath so on the third ring the other half closes over the bathroom door to answer and I hear him come into room. He had another 2 bathrobes (despite the fact we clearly had not used the others) which he attempted to sell to my other half for £30. Sorry mate no British money. It's ok I'll get it tomorrow just put these in your suitcase for now hush hush. I was livid when I heard what had happened and other half (softer than me!) reached his last straw when today despite the do not disturb sign being up (he's not very well today) was forced to get up and answer the door which was constantly ringing after I had left him alone in the room to sleep this morning. Not a big deal but come on Radisson, some privacy would be nice and you might want to be aware that some of your staff are attempting to flog hotel goods to guests. Here's to a more peaceful final few days.

2 of us stayed here for one week all inclusive from the 3rd January. The whole hotel, grounds, pools, accommodation and restaurant areas were spotless. The staff work very hard but always chat and make you very welcome, special thanks to Elsayed in the Lotus Pool Bar who brought us drinks whilst we laid around sunbathing, again always smiling and very helpful. Recommend the banquet nights that Mohammed takes great pride in, for £20 per person the food is far better than in the general restaurant a do the wine is much nicer too, included we're 4 entertainment acts which were all very good! For the money this was extremely good value. Perfect for families and couples! 3 had 3 x 1 hour massages for less than £50 each which was a nice treat in the hotel spa. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

This hotel is great and the staff, no ALL of the staff were brilliant always smiling and cheerfull. They could not do enough for us. We were a group of 4 and we all loved the hotel, staff and entertainment. Yes there were a lot of Russians but who cares we were on holiday and they kept them selves to them selves. The food was plenty full and there were a lot of choices, any all inclusive are going to get someone say they did not like it but i found something to eat at every meal time.
The swimming pools were cold and maybe they could have been heated but what do you expect in January. However every day there were people swimming. Again as it was January it was very quite and a great relaxing break just what we wanted...
Bubbles da Vere was excellent (fox) and the whole team kept us entertained for hours on end. Well done to them..The waiters and stewards were on the go all day long and could not do enough for us we were made very welcome and enjoyed the beautiful grounds. We will ALL definately be returning. Very good value for money.

Room Tip: I could have got a double bed in my bathroom here. Our corner room was large and sunny and quite whi...
