Firstly I would like to begin by saying that our trip was very relaxing and we enjoyed our time immensely. We would go back, if it was cheaper. Why would you pay 5 star prices for a 3/4 star?

There were however a couple of things that we would like to make you aware of prior to your trip:

Beds – most rooms have twin beds, if you’re hoping for a double, there is usually an extra cost as these are in the more expensive rooms.

Food – Not of a 5 star quality. I would say 3 star quality food. Tons of pasta as the hotel is heavily populated by Italians. Desserts are often dry with no flavour, however there are lots of choices. Children’s corner consisted of mini sausages every meal time.

Service – Not of a 5 star quality. Hardly ever smile and seem pretty ticked off to be working.

Swimming Pool – there is a children’s paddling pool which is great, however the main pool does not have a life guard present and there are a few blind spots.

Private Beach – GREAT

All inclusive – for some strange reason, wine is only served with dinner. Most drinks come in disposable plastic glasses....grrrr!

I hope this helps.

Just a short note to warn all the visiotors to the Laguna Vista and Laguna Garden not to use their Spa and Bodycare facilties as they charge the earth for the cheapest body treatments and lie to you about the materials they use, instead of proper massage oil they used the cheapest parrafin oil which gave me a skin rash for days, they have also been extremely rude with the other guests calling them stupid in arabic right in their face and answering the mobile phones while serving, which we found extremly rude nd unsettling. Don't get pressured into buying any massage or other treatment while staying at this hotel as they sales people use dirty tricks and try to charge it to your room afterwards. E paid a lot of money for the whole course of treatments only to find out later form oter gustes that for the same course they are routinley given massive discounts, only because they are italian and liked to drive a hard bargain.
The Hotel itself is really lovely and is located in the quiet part of Nabq, which is a bliss in itself. The staff are fantastic and coulndät do enough for you, so made the stay so much more plreasurable. Thank you Laguna Vista, we will be coming again soon!!!

Stayed here from 1st October 2009 for 2 weeks on All inclusive basis and although i had a few minor issues, it was a good hotel and not as bad as some of the reviews it has received in the past.

Reception is amazing.. all natural colours of desert, complete with tall columns and freestanding pillars as artwork. Even if you are in the area and not staying here, it is worth while poking your head in the reception to see this place. Grand piano looks tiny it is such a vast space. Check in was painless and instructions regarding A.I. etc were clear.
Room was short walk from reception..1st minor niggle that im sure everyone has when they arrive at a strange hotel, directions were few and far between and as we arrived in darkness, the room numbers were hard to see, so asked a member of staff who escorted us to room and didnt even look for tip!
We opted for a double duplex which was fantastic location wise and also the room size was exactly what we had hoped for. The bed was massive.. 2 adults and 2 kids piled into it 1st thing in the morning and there was still room for more!!
Bathroom was good size with shower, bath, toilet and bidet. Kids room was up stairs on a mezzanine level with its own A/C unit , which it really needed and the kids loved it, somewhere to go away from us (ages 7 & 9 ). Fox Movies on tv with some cracking movies, loads of football if you wanted and a english news channel.
Pools were good, and despite some reports to the contrary, i had no problem securing 4 beds each day. There is the scramble at beginning of day, as there is everywhere, but always managed to get 4 by picking up spare ones from around pool. We spent a lot of time at pool next to kids club which had its own bar. Ahmed Hogan (long story on how he got his name) ran the bar and would chat all day if you want. I know they are rotated around the complex, but can't praise the guy enough, used to let kids go behind bar and get their own coke and crisps, which kids thought was the highlight of holiday!
2nd minor niggle was the All Inclusive drink policy.. IT ISNT!!!
Wine only served at meal times or costs extra. Supposed to be one glass per meal, but you get as much as you want and IMHO it is a not bad quality. Cocktails were not exotic, but vodka and orange, rum and coke.. get the idea? Dont do as my wife did and ask for one of the colourful drinks with flowers in it that sits on bar.. it is coloured water!!
Food was acceptable. 1 vegetarian and 2 kids and me who will eat anything and we always had full bellys at every meal. You wont starve, promise!
Pastries served mid afterooon if you want and also burgers served at main pool around lunch time, which did mean a treck if you were not actually at that pool and if im being honest a bit of a push to get to the food. No such problems at main meal times im glad to say and food was plentiful.
Staff looked genuinely happy to see you and were helpful. Did see the sour faced barmaid that has been mentioned elsewhere, but if i were stuck behind a bar all day i think i may be sour faced too, so didnt worry about it.
Shops in hotel were a bit pricey, but did give out free gifts to kids when they realise it was our 1st day!
taxi in hotel was expensive, can be had for half the price on main road. When you walk out of hotel, there is always someone asking you if you want a taxi. Blue and white are official taxis and there is also private taxis hanging around. Liking an adventure, i got chatting to a private one, got his mobile and used him.. saved quite a lot of money and he turned up on time when ever i called him. 1st time we used him he dropped us in Namma and gave me his mobile number and said pay him when we got back to hotel.. was suspicious of what return cost would be, but no worry, all he wanted to do was prove he was reliable and cheaper than hotel. Shops also offer to let you pay later.. suppose it could be taken advantage of, but it does make you feel valued if you know what i mean.
A few basic words of egyptian go down a treat..
LA SHOKRAN SIDEEKEE - No thank you my friend. this is a must to avoid being pulled into every shop.. when they hear that they leave you alone.
BOKRA - Tomorrow.. can be used as a substitute for above for a laugh.
ESHTA - means something like milk and honey, but is used to describe beautiful girls.. i used it to describe tacky pyramids or mass produced stuffed camels and reduced the shopkeepers to tears of laughter.
Get friendly with a barman or member of staff and learn some more basic phrases, opens many doors for haggling.. which i could write a review on its on about!!
As you lie by the pool, you will get guys coming round selling you spas and quad bike etc. i paid £20 for myself and £10 for my 9 year old to go on a quadbike in the desert, picked up and returned to hotel and we were on the bike for a good 2 hours, not bad value IMHO. You can get this cheaper outside at Happy tours at the Strada ..£15 per person for same trip, but i was happy with £20. All im saying is dont rush in and buy at hotel.. or once you get the feeling for haggling, do this with the trips too.. they will fake that they are offended but finally agree.. esp if you say you are going home next day and that is all the money you have! God im tight!!! lol.
We went with Thomas Cook and used Emma the Rep a few times for advice... She is knowledgable and approachable and we liked her.
So, if you have booked this hotel, IMHO, you can relax knowing you are not going to die of food poisoning, starve to death, get into a fight for a place by the pool or live in a hovel for a week or 2.. just rememeber the All Inclusive isn't.
Oh, you can go over the road to the L.V. Garden resort and use their pools etc for a change... their dining room is a bit nicer i thought, but food same good standard.
Entertainment of an evening was .... Italian is the best way to describe it. It is an Italian resort after all. Oh and if one more ignorant Italian babe lets a door go in my face again, i will knock her off her 8 inch heeled prada shoes!! Russians were fine i thought, but the italian babes and the guys with their manbags got on my teets!!!
Kids loved the kids club.. shout out to sara and lacky who you will hear before you see!!!
Would i go back... yes i would despite the minor niggles it was a good holiday in a nice location, 10 mins from the airport.

It is a great hotel in a great location.

I wanted to say that I have visited 3 times and have found the staff to be excellent and very helpful and friendly.

I'd like to say to other posters who have commented on the helpfulness of bar staff at certain bars. Please be aware that the bar staff are rotated every 10 or so days going round all the bars of which there are 7 in Laguna Vista and more in the Gardens. The ones that served me were always excellent. It is not their fault that the All Inclusive(AI) bars for drinks are very limited in the evenings (2 bars open for AI) and that most of the AI bars close early. It is also not the fault of the bar staff that they are usually left short staffed in the lobby bar in the evenings. Before anyone asks no I'm not bar staff there or related to bar staff there :-) Just felt a bit sorry for them at times as usually extremely busy.

Ignore Italians and Russians some of whom can be very rude. I tend to treat people how they treat me on the whole which means I can be rude back as and when required!

This hotel is by fare the best in the local area, this was proved by all we talked to on the public beach. the lobby area as said by others is a big WOW on check in and is very clean, infact staff clean all day the whole hotel. the restaurant is large and yes a steady flow of people use it, but we nether had to wait for a table, the staff are excellant especially when you show your appriaciation by tiping them for service provided, do this and get extra little service like as much wine as you wish for when dining, plus full table service.

our room 2218 was a very large room, which seemed the norm and has a great sea view, this again was clean and was serviced each day with fresh sheets, again something that does not happen in most hotels.

The pool area is outstanding and although a large hotel there are sunbeds for all and the pool boys are excellant and look after you. The pool bar staff are the best in the hotel, very friendly and always talk to you. however they do not now were Cumbria is and with such we became Scottish as they understood were this was, did make for a talking point though.

i only have two grumbles of this hotel and area, the main lobby bar staff had attitude all day, making you feel an inconvienance to serve you as they would be talking, plus they nether smiled or said happy days. the second is i can not do with walking along the street being bullied to buy tacky holiday bits, be warned, you should be ingnorant when walking outside the complex, this will save you from spending money you do not wish to spend.

This is a great hotel and the majority of the staff are excellant, its very very clean and the pool areas are the best i have ever seen. well done to all management and staff for making our honeymoon so memorable for all the right reasons.

Started going to laguna vista in nov 07, been back in april, august, nov, march, nov about to go again soon.As all say the recption is a wow.buffet resturant very busy breakfast and lunch, but you can find something to eat,if you get to know the cheifs as we do they cook the food fresh and bring it to our table themselves, yes we do tip and they all know this so we are assured of a great holiday.(it's nice to be nice) only a few quid to us but opens so many doors.Rooms simple and clean good aircon.stayed in hotel rooms and near too the beach all have there merits. Some of the barman (RUDE) sorry i have not found one who is yes they have attiude with the italians russians and germans, just watch and listen to the way they are spoken to by these people. If you speak to them and get to no them they are great fun once they know you are british. There is a great place to eat at night quit caravery and on the complax, we use every night but you will have to find it is our little secert.I know this sounds boring but all we want is sun sea sand and rest, you will get it here at the lugna vista.Sun allways shineing what ever time of the year.
When we arrive word seems to go around. Our table is reservedfor us breakfast and lunch, cant pass a bar without a drink being poured out and a bottle of water to take away, beds with new fresh towels kept for us on the beach every day.Makes a change for us as we serve people ourselves and you no what it is like to be treated bad. Be nice to them it does not have to be money and you will have a great time. If you do get a upset tummy go out of the hotel across the car park and see the chemist he will pescribe tablets to you and within a few hours you will be back up and runing he is very good. very cheap as well dont pay for a doctor he is very good. Yes we have done the rounds of holidays long hall the lot but for just 5 hours flight and never a day without sun it really is a snip.If you want night life you will have to go out for it,but if you want quit nice gardens freindly people and a good standard of hotel (it is not our 5*) but a good 4 then you will not do any harm by going to the Laguna Vista. Just one last tip when you sign in go to the bar for a drink whilst you bags are taken to you rooms and left outside your room it makes it easy to find your room, belive me if it is your first time you will get lost I do and we have been 6 times.

After reading some reviews before we went I must say we was'nt sure of what to expect, this is our third visit to Sharm but the first in this hotel but need not have woried we had a lovely holiday, first time in Sharm with no stomach upsets etc stayed at the Hilton Sharks Bay on previous trips(old side) which we thought was very good until coming here. Impressive lobby area which did get a bit hot at times as there is no air con but if you find a seat by the doors there is a nice breeze to keep you cool, we had one or two drinks here but as previous reviews has said the staff in the lobby bar are not nice especially the girl, only once in two weeks did we see her smile, which was a shame we felt the three main bar tenders who worked in the lobby bar let the hotel down for their service, they half filled the glasses/plastic cups & threw them at you & it depended on who you were to get a glass they did favour some guests, we were going to tip as this is customery in Egypt but no way were they going to get a pound out of us!

we spent most evenings at the Whichway bar which was quite but the service was excellent a special mention to Ahmed (bar man) and Ossama (waiter) their service was excellent and well deserved a tip, did not have to get out of our seats for a drink and they came two at a time, ok the spirits are not the best but drinkable, ask to see the cocktail menu which is included on the all inclusive but is not advertised on the bar. Tipped about a pound now and again and a bigger tip at the end of our holiday.

Room basic-but clean and large, we were ofered an upgrade but it was expensive and we decided not to bother we did not have a pool view but it was ok.
no tea & coffee facilities in the room
had a fridge, bottled water is only available from main restaurant at meal times but there are water coolers at each of the bars and we just filled up or bottles and saved them in our fridge, this was not a problem
pools were lovely and the beach was excellent especially for the not so confident swimmers and children as it was shallow, and safe before you reached the reef but did not need to go out there to see the fish as there are several pieces of coral in the shallow water with plenty of fish to see
entertainment was poor as the animation team was Italian and only spoke in Italian they did not translate, so we did not have a clue what they were saying so we did'nt bother going to see thier shows etc
Hotel has a nightclub on the beach but drinks were not part of the all inclusive & were expensive as was the cave bar this looked a nice place to sit and have a drink but again always empty as you had to pay for your drinks.
food was very nice, did get a bit repetative and served a lot of beef and chicken, beef was to tough to eat most days but the chicken was ok, we always found something to eat, and there is more choice in the main restaurant but it is a bit of a treck from the beach when it very hot! to have lunch. use your free meal at the Dua Dua Pizza was lovely!!
good location just outside the hotel there are supermarkets, very cheap, Mcdonald, Burger King & KFC which all knocked spots of the UK's fast food restaurants cleaner, nicer food very fresh bigger potions and cheaper if you fancy a change.

did get a bit nagged by the shop keepers but nothing we did'nt expect, just smile say no thankyou and keep walking most were friendly & just wanted to chat, if you are buying gifts etc you must barter to get a good price, we used Egyptian pounds and changed them in the HSBC bank which is down the road from the hotel we had a better exchange rate they are closed on Fridays and Saturdays, there are other banks but did not know what they were so we used the HSBC, they do accept english money in shops etc but they get out the calculators to give you a price but you end up paying more, so we stuck to egyptian pounds

all in all a good holiday would return at the right price, we just felt the all inclusive was a little bit tight compaired to other hotels in Sharm.
