Upon arrival we were checked in by a sourly faced limited English clerk wearing a crumpled shirt then delivered to our room by a ramshackeled 'milk float' driven by a man who held his hand out for a tip per suitcase, anyway we were so hungry so went out in search of something to eat, but unfortunately all that was on offer was sweet rolls and warm soup so we gave that a miss and settled for warm beers served in tiny plastic beakers. The room was dimly lit and several light bulbs needed replacing. The bed was rock hard with pillows to match and sheets that were to small for the size of the matress.

Our room view was lovely untill we watched a very ill and distressed camel die one evening so that was upsetting.

Breakfast was served in a dimly lit canteen like room with again plenty of sweet rolls and a huge assortment of cakes, i darent eat the eggs or meats as flies were in abundance. The squash was very watered down and the bottled water was limited to again a small cup. One morning we witnessed a waiter get very rude and aggressive as a female guest was filling up her water bottle to take to her partner who was ill in their room. The toilets just off the dining area were absolutely disgusting with a broken seat and soap dispenser and no soap either or paper towles.

Another morning we had to endure breakfast in the baking heat with no shade or explanation but apparently something caved in the early hours so it wasn't safe to enter the dining area so food was served outside with no cover or refrigeration.

The beach was great apart from some locals hiding out in a cement hut and trying to attract the hotel guests , there was a guard but he was either asleep or missing from hiswatch area. The beach dropped off to a great depth not to far off and the only warning was some man who would whistle loudly.

Walking around this complex was definately hazardous due to poorly lit walkways and raised drain covers. There was very little entertainment unlees your a bingo fan!
Our friends in the next room had a huge nest of ants in their cupboards and we heard a lot of banging in the night that was quite scary as everywhere was dimly lit.

It was impossible to get a sunbed or even a lookin near the pool areas but then after viewing the murky water with a distinct film of oil and bacteria who would want to.

The lunch and evening meals were very similar usually and a great dissapointment very little fruit or salad items, and what we did eat made us all ill even the immodium remedys didn't help.

I found the desk staff very unhelpfull and their sourly attitude unpleasant but they seemed to warm to the huge amount of Russian guests.

I defiantely wouldn't rate the place worthy of 5 stars and shant go back.

Holidays are what you make them.
Well landscaped resort, a picture opportunity wherever you were on the resort.
The beach was fantastic. The beach attendants were so helpful they couldn't do enough for you, they always greeted you with a smile. On the really hot days they provided ice cold towels to cool you down. You could snorkel in th lagoon or off the jetty were the sea was crystal clear. Joseph the life guide was so knowledgeble about the sea life there. You could also swim with the resident Napolean fish.
Both of the pool areas were clean with plenty of activities to keep the children and adults amused throughout the day.
The bar staff were very friendly and after 2 days remembered your name and the drinks you were going to order. The Pizza man at the beach bar was happy to share a joke eventhough he was standing next to a pizza Oven and the temperature was 40 in the shade.
Mohammad the Bar manager who resided mainly in the reception bar ensured your glass was never empty.
In the buffet resturant there was plenty of choice, on a couple of occassions the choice wasn't to our taste but we found something to eat, otherwise the food was cooked well and the waiters provide excellent service.

Medo ensured that he met as many of the guests as possible to as them about their stay, what they were happy with or not so happy. They wanted to make your holiday as happy possible and ask for suggestions to make it better. He was so proud of his country and was happy to offer any advice of were to visit.
We will certainly go back again

My boyfriend and I travelled to the Hauza Beach Resort in Sharm El Sheikh from 03/09/09 - 10/09/09 as it appeared to be good value for money considering what it offered online!

We had seen reviews online (mostly on this site) saying that the hotel wasnt a 5 star (fair enough, we personally rated it at a 3 star) and that we should change it as there were a number of problems with the hotel itself. However, the things that some people moan about on here, really dont pose too big a problem. Here goes my review and tips....

So yeah, you get drinks in plastic glasses, no big deal, just get double the amount of drinks when your at the bar. The resturant is pretty small for the amount of people that use it but there is room outside to dine and the resturant was open from 7pm - 10pm in the evening so there was plenty of time to eat. The air conditioning in the resturant wasnt always on first thing in the morning but it did come on about 8am. The food is basic but tasty, just make sure you stay away from the salads and dont drink the tap water as you MAY get an upset stomach, providing you stay away from these then you will probably be fine! There is a shop over the road that sells 6ltr bottles of water for only L.E 15 which is about £2. The bedrooms are very basic - our beds were rock solid and dipped, obviously well used! The maids make up your room everyday and give you fresh towles, however, most of the time we had new towles so they wernt very good for drying yourself when getting out of the shower! The pools were lovely, especially the jungle pool. The beach was lovely (if not a little stoney so make sure you wear something on your feet) and the sea is lovely. Highly recommend getting a snorkle set from the shop over the road outsude of the resort and barter the guy down to L.E 75, the fella felling the snorkles in the resort grounds charge double that! The marine life is amazing and well worth the snorkle money. The hotel iself is clean, there is always people about cleaning something somewhere. The only major problem we noticed wa the flooring, its not great for wheelchair or disabled access. The 'ramps' are basically vertical and the floors are very uneven, so always wear something on your feet when walking around. There is a lot of marble so just watch out if it's wet as we noticed a few people had slipped over.

All in all, we really enjoyed our week at the Hauza Beach Resort and would go back to Sharm for sure, just not to this hotel. If you have booked it already before reading this review then please dont worry about all the negative things people say on here about the hotel - its not that bad at all! Just be careful, stay away from the water, tip the waiters for bigger glasses, buy a snorkle and bottled water and most of all......enjoy your stay! If you have any questions then drop me an email ;)

Poor hotel, ignorant staff, dirty rooms and restaurants, undercooked food.....................

This hotel needs demolishing and rebuilding from scratch & that includes the staff. On arrival the first impressions were questionable, the receptionist asked if we would like to be upgraded to a better room with a sea view, he then cacked himself when I showed him we had already booked a sea view room. The porter then demanded a tip for carrying our cases 15 feet. The room was full of those large ants, the shower didnt do warm never mind hot water, the TV was broken and with the air conditioning on even the first setting the noise was ridiculous. The way to our room was pitch black at night as the lights werent working on the stairs outside which was a major hazard.

If you want a bed by the main pool I suggest you get up before 6am, for a bed at the jungle pool have a lie in until 7am before taking your towel out. Either way it depends on if you tip the pool attendants as they will remove your towel in favour of somebody whom has tipped them, I chose not to tip and in return had 4 towels stolen.

The food was ok one day then deplorable the next, it was usually undercooked and then cold when served and there was no variety amongst the dishes, if you like Beef then this is the place for you although you will have to wrestle with the Russian guests first. We booked the indian restaurant and got served beef stew and cold chicken wings which we were told was a curry. The soft drinks were so sweet that you felt sick after a glass or two, the alcoholic drinks were served in cups so small you found yourself asking for 3 or 4 glasses. The beer was warm & flat at the best of times at both the pool & beach bar, Again you had to give a good tip to get a larger glass so you could actually get a beer that was not made up mostly of froth, you then had to keep that glass and carry it with you everywhere otherwise you would lose it. If you wanted bottled water you had to pay for it £1 a bottle. You were supposed to have two bottles supplied in your fridge on arrival but we didnt receive them until after 5 days and several complaints. After a while everybody started ordering fast food to be delivered in to the displeasure of the hotel management.

Almost everyone went down with an upset stomach that tended to last at least a week for most people - some still had it when you came home, the pharmacy seemed to give out different sets of medication to everybody for the same problem for silly amounts of money. The upset stomach's weren't a surprise when you seen Egyptian parents happily letting their children deposit faeces in the pool.

Although the beach was quite nice you were not left alone for more than a few minutes with beach sellers constantly hassling you to try and rip you off selling mostly rubbish trips. Another tip is that theprice on ticket you are given is not the price you will pay, one fellow tourist was told to pay extra after riding on a camel after agreeing a price.

The staff were miserable as sin although we did arrive in the middle of Ramadan. There were only a few exceptions one being Hazem at the pool bar who was always happy to serve ( after a tip of course ) and Mohamed in the restaurant who always ensured we had tea/coffee in the morning. On on occassion a poor lady who had queued for 2 hours waiting for a tiny pizza fainted and not one staff member bothered to help - they just stood by watching. The animation staff are useless, they looked tired all the time and struggled badly getting anybody to participate in any activities, the british guy walked about in shades all every day and night hiding his hangover from the night before.

The cleanliness of the place in general is well below par, the same cloths used on the floor are used to clean the work tables used for serving food which shocked everyone who witnessed it.

At night the bar is poorly lit and the music too loud which encouraged people to simply retire to their rooms really early.

The Zoo & Disco were closed for whatever reasons so we never saw them, the remainder of the hotel is a building site.

The only thing consistently good was the weather and the snorkelling, the rest was simply crap. If you are going to this hotel here is McDonald number's as you will need it :- [--] - see reception and they will connect you !! if you dont like McDonalds then try the Three Crowns down Le-Strada - they do good food/beer at a canny price.

Enjoy !
Steve & Andie
