We just got back from 10 days all inclusive at the Royal Albatros
Although it was our 9th trip to sharm it was our first trip to this hotel and we have never been all inclusive before either
it was a great holiday and one which I would have no problems recommending
We found the amenities ,the food and particularly the staff all great .
Food was very good with four all inclusive restaurants all with plenty of choice at breakfast , lunch and dinner
The A La Carte Thai restaurant was excellent and better than the Hyatt hotel , in our opinion
Guest services if there were any issues (our aircon stopped working ) were quick to resolve on same day with a follow up call to make sure we were satisfied
All in all a great holiday offering excellent value for money and I can understand why so many people we met had stayed there over 10 times
thinks that says it all

Not having visited the resort or hotel before I was a little aprehensive as to what I might find. However, I was so impressed with all aspects of the hotel, its staff in particular, the facilities and the location that I have told all my friends that it is definately worth visiting . One family have already booked to go and another have taken details with the intent of going too.
I can not rate this hotel highly enough. The food was consistantly very good with a lot of choice and variation, all served by friendly , helpful staff who were always happy to to ensure every meal was a pleasure .
The rooms were kept spotless by the friendly and efficient cleaning staff. My room had fabulous viws over the main pool complex which was beautiful.and also kept spotless.
I also had need of the medical facilities and resident doctor and medical staff who were exceptional, to a man . Nothing was too much effort for them .They were fantastic and I thank them with sincerity and humility . Life savers !
In short I had a fantastic stay , made some very good friends with the most excellent staff and would have no hesitation recommendind this hotel to anyone . Top class!!

Room Tip: My room , 403, was superb. viws, balcony and all .

Overall our stay was a enjoyable one.

Bar staff in general need to be more friendly - no smiles, as a guest you feel a bit cheated when you pay for all inclusive and the bar staff in particular thinks they can treat you without respect.

However saying that the food was above my expectations, kids club excellent. special special thanks to kids cordinators Marie from germany and Amy....great girls with lots of energy and very friendly. our daughter felt connected with the atmosphere in the kids zone.

the rooms were nothing special with just the basic of amenities in it. however we didn't went to spend time in a room anyway. Not sure why the hotel was rated as 5 stars. its more like a 4 stars egyptian hotel. Room definetly needs to be upgraded. no irons supplied in the hotel or available. wifi internet very expensive.

one good thing that goes a long way it making sure you tip. its make a difference in the service you receive and the staff tends to remember you.

if you are going with Kids then I would certainly recommend this hotel and it has a fantastic kids pools, kid club and kids disco each nice, very entertaining. we tend to spend all day with our daughter out at the pool or beach however she looks forward to spending even if it just a hour in kids clubs and then going to the disco in the evening.

Spent 2 weeks here with my husband and 2 boys (11 & 9).
The accommodation was spacious - we had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment near the reception/active pool. The balcony overlooked the building site next door, but that was the only thing to complain about.

The food was good - lots of choice, although we found the desserts to be a bit bland.

The swimming pools were fantastic. We tended to stay round the quieter relaxation pool, but from there, the boys could either go to the aqua park, heated pool or the children's pool (near the active pool). The aqua park was a real hit - the children loved the slides, and we all enjoyed the family tyre ride.

The beach wasn't the nicest sand - quite gritty, but the jetty was fantastic to paddle off halfway along, or to snorkel from the end - which we all did! The coral reef is beautiful with a huge variety of fish.

The dive company at the hotel (Egyptian divers) took my husband for a dive (He's PADI qualified) down to 18m to the shipwreck at the bottom of the reef, which he really enjoyed. They also took my son out twice for a try dive - down to 5 m. Both dives were well run and professional, however when we asked for a certificate for my son so he could get his scout badge, they were very unco-operative - they left him sitting for an hour and a half without dealing with him.

The staff were all friendly and the bar staff were very good at delivering drinks to the sunbeds - well worth a small tip.

Internet usage was very expensive - 3 Euros for 15 mins. In the shops outside, it was only E£20 for an hour - much more reasonable!

We did have trouble getting people out to the room when we needed the safe open or air conditioning fixed. One night, when we returned to the room, the children's air conditioning had stopped working. We rang at 10.20pm to ask for it to be fixed quickly. At 11.20 we cancelled the call as we were all going to bed. At midnight, the children were woken up by banging on the door to fix the problem! We weren't happy and complained to the manager the next morning, who was very apologetic, and couldn't do enough to fix the problem for us. My tip is to ask for a timescale then hassle if they haven't come in that time!

The location of the hotel is right at the end of Nabq. For us, that wasn't a problem, as we like it quiet. We felt sorry for the local shops, who obviously struggle to keep their businesses going so please support them

Excursions - we flew to Cairo to see the pyramids - very expensive, but well worth it.
We did the camel ride, Bedouin meal and stargazing which was definately the children's favourite. Ours got to ride their own camel, but many children had to share with their parents - so be warned!
Husband climbed Mt Sinai to see sunrise, which he loved, but it was really hard going (glad I didn't!)
Caught a taxi from front gate to Old Sharm - E£160 return for the four of us - well worth it for the peace of mind that we were going to be picked up. Driver was lovely - very friendly. Old Sharm was a lovely experience - very Egyptian market style shops.

I picked up an upset tummy - tried to cure with English drugs - don't bother! Pick up from the local pharmacies - much more effective!

The entertainment could do with a revamp. We were very disappointed by a Queen night, which was merely staff dressed up miming to Queen songs - need to take tips from Butlins redcoats!

A lovely holiday and I would definitely consider returning here.

We chose this hotel based on Tripadvisor comments and our expectations were fully met- we had a great family week in the sun. However, if you go expecting UK 5 star standards of accommodation, service and food you will be disappointed. We went to a genuine 5 star resort (Beaches Turks & Caicos) last October and it was superior to the Royal Albatros Moderna in every way. Then again the Beaches resort was not so superior that it justified the price tag (it cost 5 times as much) so in terms of value for money the Royal Albatros Moderna was the clear winner.
The Royal Albatros Moderna is just about a UK 4 star resort and we were more than happy with all elements of the hotel. We had a 2 bed, 2 bath suite for our family of 5 which was large, bright and clean with a double-aspect patio looking over the gardens and kids pool. Our only negative comments on the room would be that the A/C was insufficient for its size, while the electronic safe kept on failing and we had to hang around waiting for someone to come and open it with the key.
The hotel itself is well laid out with lovely green grounds, great pools and plenty to do for the kids. The pools were not heated and a bit fresh at first but with the weather in the 30's it was not a problem. The one so called 'heated' pool was small and tucked away and as far as we could tell was no warmer than the other ones. We spent most of the day at the activity pool, which was huge or at the aqua park, which the kids loved. We didn’t really venture to the relaxation pool or the kids pool, which were mainly for adults or toddlers respectively.
Neither did we spend much time at the beach, which had gritty sand and no chance to swim as the water was only a few inches deep over the vast inner reef. We did venture along the 500m long jetty most days and enjoyed viewing the fish and snorkelling off the steps half way along and at the end. The beach area also had a grass football pitch which the kids used each afternoon as well as a volley ball court, tennis court and mini-golf course.
The food was plentiful and varied with the 5 restaurants inter-linked so you could pick and chose from the Asiatique, the Tagine, the Mediterranean, the Zum Kaiser or Il Caminetto. We mainly stuck to the food that was prepared in front of you e.g. omelettes, pizzas, pastas, steaks, shwarmas etc as some of the pre-prepared offerings did not look particularly appetising. We didn't try the White Elephant restaurant which was not part of the all-inclusive, although it was tempting towards the end of the holiday as the buffet restaurants could be a bit stressful at times. Drinks were a mixed bag with plenty of soft drinks on tap for the kids, a great coffee bar, beer fine but served in ridiculously small glasses, wine passable and spirits undrinkable (although the Russians didn't seem to mind).
The service was good with generally friendly and helpful staff, who resounded well to a smile and in particular to a tip. The culture dictates that you pretty much have to tip everyone for everything so bring a plentiful supply of £1 coins or $1 bills, or try to get hold of some EGP10 notes out there. Tipping the bar waiter was a good investment as by the end of the holiday he would serve my beer in an extremely rare pint glass!
Overall we would go back to the Royal Albatros Moderna any time we wanted a good value, relaxing week with guaranteed sun.

Just spent a week in Royal Albatros and although i had my worries because of a few reviews that i had found, I can only say that either the hotel has improved greatly, or they must be talking about a diffrent hotel. We went with a 15 and 11 year old, who of cause did not want to go, would have stayed at home with there mates, if allowed :o)
We had a fantastic week from start to finish, The staff welcomed us everywhere we went and when it was time to leave none of us wanted to go........15 year old even shed a few tears. The Pools where all very clean and a joy to spend time in, The beech very clean and we love the fact that there are places where the children can snorkel safely.
I have nothing bad to say about this hotel and would and will recommend this hotel........
The one one thing i have to say is we were hoping to have a sea or pool view which we did not have......well we could see a tiny bit of beech if you looked hard enough leaning over the balcany, but we was happy where we was and enjoyed our stay soooooooo much.
Thank you so much to all the staff that helped to make our holiday so special.
