this was the best holiday ive been on. the hotel was lovely and there was plently to keep you happy. the room was very clean and house keeping was there every morning. they also filled up the mini bar every night. everyone was so friendly and were always happy to help. the one amazing thing about this holiday was swimming with the fish, myself im not a fan of getting in the pool nevermind the sea but as soon as i saw what was under the water you couldnt keep me out. the town was 25 min down the road in a taxi, i found there was great night life down there including night clubs if thats your thing. the reasturant i would advise going to would be the hard rock cafe as we really enjoyed the food and entertanment. we also went to old sharm and found that things were cheaper to buy down there. the hotel have there own bus or taxi's to book to take you where ever you fancie they also have day trips to book and soom seem reasonabily priced, but may be cheaper in town. if your thinking about going to sharm i would recommend this hotel.

The first thing I am going to say is " why do people moan so much" my 18 year daughter and I stayed at this hotel in October 08, we loved it so much we are going back on 1st February 09. The hotel is lovely, the staff could not be more helpful and so friendly, they remember your name and always give you a wave when they see you.
The food was sometimes questionable but always edible, they have to cater for different nationalities, you will always find something, if you want pizza or burger and chips or pasta go down to the beach bar at lunch times, they take your order and bring you your food.
The cleaners were great, every day we would come back to the room and have a different thing made with the towels (see the pictures)
Always tip in egyptian pounds although you will read reveiws saying you can tip in english or dollars the staff really appreciate it in their own money.
The souvenier shop was my only problem, I found the man that worked in there so rude and pushy and would never come down on price, even though I had told him the price was cheaper in naama he told me I was lying and his shop was better quality (rubbish)
The oil shop in the hotel sold us some sun oil that was brilliant, we put it on in the morning and it lasted all day even with swimming and we did not burn one bit, my daughter who had fair skin as well did not even burn, we had a fantastic tan, so pay a vist there.
Overall not a 5* English hotel but for the money you pay excellent value for money and anyone that moan well must be very fussy.
Oh if you decide to go to McDonalds over there and order the quarter pounder, it is a never ending burger, Huge, their weights must be totally different to ours (figure that) it was great.

Have a great time you will not regret staying here.

Okay so my mum and I wanted a last minute escape from the UK weather so when we saw Sharm with a 5* resort all inclusive for under £500 we snapped it up.
First and foremost please don't expect 5* luxuries and service. I have been told that at proper 5* resorts you get your drinks served at meal times, there is an abundance of food and the rooms are top notch. At Albatoros or "Batros" as the locals call it you can expect plenty of food but only at meal times which are quite late, Evening meals don't start till 6:30 pm but they continue until 10:00pm. I found myself quite hungry around 4pm and there was nothing on offer. You have to get all your own drinks from the bar and the selection is poor to say the least. I pretty much drank mango juice and bottled water .the entire trip.
The point is though that if you don't mind the little things this is a really nice resort. Above all it's really clean!!!! there are staff cleaning all the time.
Moving on, there are plenty of sun loungers by the three pools (only one pool is heated and was full of kids, which is fine for families but i went to relax a little) there is a special kiddies pool with loads of slides and fountains, looked wicked! and there are more loungers down on the beach. the sand is quite grainy so don't expect golden, soft sands. The sea is about 50cm deep for around 300m and then it shelves down 1000ft apparently. so, they've built a jetty which is lovely and takes you all the way out to the shelf where there is a coral reef with lots of brilliant fish like Clown fish, parrot fich, angel fish etc... so bring ur snorkel. If you haven't got one don't worry. we bartered 2 masks for £10 in the local shops.
If you haven't got a transfer from the airport like we didn't then there are plenty of taxis available outside. This is very important...negotiate the price before you get in the cab and make sure you have the right money cuz they will pretend they don't have any change. we paid 80 Egyption pounds which is about the most you should pay. works out about £9 for the two of us.
anyway, back to the hotel. you may want to organise a trip away for a day or something cuz we found we were quite bored in the evenings. The entertainment was mildly entertaining but i wouldn't rely on it. We went to Luxor for the day to see Valley Of The Kings and it was amazing, an early start but well worth it.
The bedroom are quite basic and we had an upgrade so God knows what our previous room was like? Above all our room was very clean and they beds took some gettin used to but they're really comfy. I will mention that a pair of my mum's earrings went missing from the room. they were only a cheap pair but from then on we made sure that everything was stored away during the day. There is a free safe service at the hotel reception where you get to keep the key with you and the receptionist has the other. (it takes 2 keys to open it|)
If you're a female be prepared to say no thankyou a lot! the male staff don't leave you alone until you threaten to tell reception about them. also while you're lounging at the pool you get approached a lot by hotel staff asking if you want a glass bottom boat trip, or a massage. The snorkeling at the end of the jetty is amazing so you dont need to fork out on a trip for that.
The weather was a steady 25C the whole week and that's in their winter!!
To be honest for what we paid we weren't expecting the Ritz and we had a very relaxing holiday. I know it wasn't 5* but it didn't bother me.
I should mention that the food was really bland and i lived on pancakes, chips and veg all week but that could just be cuz i'm fussy.
we has one evening in the spa with sauna, jacuzzi, massage and foot reflexology which was A-mazing! you can even barter the price of a massage so don't pay top doller for anything.
I bought some tobacco bac for my dad from the hotel shop and it turned out to be counterfeit so i would avoid that if i were you.
there is a local town centre called Naam'a bay which we avoided because of all the horror stories coming back from it. You get so hassled there that its no pleasure at all. People were getting locked in shops until they bought something and even spat at.

Above all if you're not too worried about it then albatoros is pretty good value for money, lets face it..if you want top quality then you will have to pay for it. we had a wonderful holiday you just gotta watch the men...they're pretty pervy. oooh and negotiate a price for a camel ride BEFORE you get on the camel!!!!

  • Liked — it was really clean
  • Disliked — the food and the sleazy men, and the Russians...they were soooo rude!

My family have just spent a month at this hotel over the xmas period as we have for the last three years. The hotel is spotless and clean the staff are the friendliest you will find. The food is fantastic with a wide choice. The reception staff and guest relations team are very good if anyone finds any problem with their rooms they will help in any way they can, they wish for people to have a good holiday. The hotel has a on site Doctor and pharmacy Although the pharmacy just outside is cheaper as are the taxis.Dont drink the tap water bottle water is provided the only time we have felt a bit under the weather it was usualy down to our own fault of too much food drink and sun.Its a shame if anyone is ill on holiday .The hotel has improved every year we have been this year new rooms and a swimming pool with slides.A new restaurant and more tables. An extention to the pier takeing you right out to the reef ,new sun beds. You will be served a bit faster if you tip the waiters they will appreciat it but they are friendly to everyone anyway. The worst part of the holiday is the taxi from the airport just haggle its a shame the taxi company in the hotel did not charge lower prices as i am sure the hotel guests would use them more.Ihope anybody going to the Royal Abatros enjoy their time as much as we do we are looking to book again for next year.happy holidays.

We saw quite a lot of bad reviews before going to this hotel and feared the worst. However when we arrived we were totally amazed at the place. Everything you could want in a five star was here(the only minor complaint we could think of was perhaps the decor and the bathroom fittings could have been more modern).
As for the food the best plan is to have a look at what was on that night then decide-every night there is a chef cooking fresh in front of you, some nights fish, others pasta-there really is a great choice.Every morning there are three chefs cooking omlettes of your choice for you or just have plain fried eggs!At lunch they will cook pizzas for you OR just go to the beach bar where fast food is served most of the afternoon.
The staff are the friendliest i have come across-they tend to be that way in Egypt as your tips are their main source of income, however i believe in tipping when the service is good and it need not be much-you can tip in any currency and its a good idea to take some small denomination notes with you and some pound coins!A good tip is to take a pint glass(preferably with a logo on it)and they will fill this up for you every time you go into the bar-just let them know they can keep it at the end of your stay!!Ask for Mohamed either in the main restaurant, the beach bar or the disco-he will see you all right!!
We went in December for my 40th and are already thinking of going back to the same hotel for my wifes 40th in March!!-honestly the people complaining about this place must be the type of people who wouldnt enjoy themselves anywhere!!!!
The hotel is one of the cleanest and staff friendliest you will find and i would recommend to anyone.

  • Liked — The food, staff and quiet location, but within easy reach of evrything!
  • Disliked — The cleaner who, although being tipped on the first day was a bit keen on getting another!!

5* Rubbish, wouldn't give it 3*. My Husband and I went for the New Year and my Birthday. We arrived on the 27th. Dec. and i was ready to come home on the 30th. We were allocated a Pool view room, great we thought until the evening when the entertainment started, someone or something stared to sing and they carried on till midnight. What a noise !!! This occured on most nights of the week. My heart went out to families with small children, i couldn't sleep so how on earth could they..... Also no one told us that the Hotel is right over the flight path for Departures and planes are taking of all day long and into the early hours, sometimes we couldn't hold a conversation because of the noise.... We were hoping to see the New Year in but i was taken ill with a stomach bug so my New Year started with me (as my husband would say) making love to the toilet, and since that night i was ill on and off for the rest of the holiday, home on the 10th Jan. Thank Goodness....
The food was bland, warm if you were lucky and very little variation each day. The restaurants are more like canteens, no atmosphere and some tables set out along the shop windows, not nice..... Best food was in the Italian A la Carte, however we had to pay extra for this. Give the Seafood A la Carte a Big Miss as the food and the surroundings were awful....
Rooms were not up to standard especially the bathroom. We experienced many occasions with no hot water.. The staff were generally good and helpful with the odd exception.
All in all i would not recommend this hotel.

We spent 2 weeks at Christmas at this hotel. there were 4 of us ranging from 14 to 63. We had a wonderful time. We loved egypt. This was our first visit but certainly not our last,

So you are preparing for your hols and reading all the reveiws. If you are like me your thinking what have i let myself in for. Dont panic you will have a ball. The airport is a bit manic. we did not book transfers but got a taxi much cheaper but do haggle.

The hotel looks very grand but in places it is a little warn. From what we can see they are constantly touching up bits. The cleanliness is second to none. The rooms and the hotel are cleaned constantly.

The food is great. Remember how much you paid you are not going to get a la carte but for AI i thought the standard was very good. There are lots of live cooking stations and the fresh eggs in the morning are great.

The staff really make this hotel 5 star. The service is wonderful. You are really looked after. Please do tip. The average wage is £60 per month. You get what you pay for. We tip and had drinks brought to us all the time. There is a wide range of cocktails on the AI.

The weather was superb 27 oC in december fab. The sea was warm and lots of fish at the top of the jetty. Sea shoes are a must. The food at the beach bar was lovely.

Now the negatives- location Nabq is an up and coming area. There is not alot around the hotel. They are building alot there and in a few years it will be great. Reception were on the whole quite unhelpful. We had a problem when we first arrived. We booked a family room for 4 people but there were only beds for 3. On the first night we had to bunk up but it was sorted late the next day. The rooms are great for 2 people but if you book a family room it is the same size as a double but with extra beds jammed in.

On the whole if you are booked in here dont panic you will have a great time. If you can not enjoy yourself here you should really stay at home
