“Not 4 star, never will be! Don't waste your money book somewhere else!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

Just returned from two weeks at the Three Corners Palmyra and must say how disappointed we were with this hotel. Having stayed at two other Three Corners hotels we thought we knew what we were expecting - how far from the truth could we be.
If you don't mind being pushed shoved and elbowed at mealtimes then this place is for you.
If you don't mind children urinating and defaecating at the side of the pool then this is for you.
If you don't mind Russian and Polish guests doing vodka shots at 11am in the morning and then try to inappropriately touch your children in the pool then again this is for you.
If you don't mind broken AC, leaky toilets and no decent showers with clean hot water then this place is for you.
If you don't mind warm food in restaurant or pizza and chips or the same regurgitated food day in day out then this is for you.
That's just some of our worst experiences!
We arrived at 10pm to check in and was checked in quite quickly given blue bands signifying we are repeat customers to the Three Corners hotel group and which supposedly gave us some extra privileges on upgrades, water, fruit & flowers in our room. The only thing we got was 1litre of water a day costing £1 as that privilege. We were taken to our triple room to be greeted by one double bed and told by bell boy after he'd received his tip that we'd receive another bed(s) shortly. We waited till midnight no bed arrived. Next morning we wake up to faulty AC unit, leaking toilet and no hot water. We reported this to reception and Ali said he'd get everything resolved. A foldaway bed was put in our room whilst we were at the pool. We queried why there wasn't 3 single divan beds or 1 double & single as we paid for a triple room and pictures on travel republic website don't reflect the images of his hotel.
It took 4 days for the maintenance staff to repair the sensor on the AC unit in which my husband had to help them do. It took them 11 days to repair leaky toilet and faulty shower. The general manager was on annual leave for first part of our stay and he resolved these issues however it's a shame his deputy managers are not competent enough to deal with very simple issues.
Finally we were in block 5 and had experienced 4 nights of Egyptian children & families running up
and down the corridors at 2am, 3am and 4am, we companies yo
Reception and security staff to the response Egyptians are crazy celebrating Eid.
The general manager told us not to come in July & August due to Ramadan however we told him this is summer holidays in UK and only time we can come.
We've been to Egypt 8 times in recent years and this hotel has seriously made me reconsider ever coming back to Egypt. I don't go on holiday to be with English people or eat English food but at his hotel English are discriminated again. The hotel staff are more favourable to Russian, Polish and Egyptians.

On arrival we were taken promptly to our room- no bed for our daughter but this was rectified within 10 mins, next we got a knock on the door a plate of sandwiches, salad and cakes greeted warmly to the hotel as well. Next morning our cleaner Mohamed introduced himself and was excellent through the holiday (room 5234). His towel animals/decorations became a highlight for our daughter on return from the pool. The resteraunt food was fine and of a standard we expected for the price we paid- the only downside to the holiday was the Eqyptian/Arabic families I have holidayed with lots of nationalites and these are the rudest people I have ever met- they thought nothing of elbowing my daughter in the face to get to food, they really thought they did not have to queue, they would pinch your table even if you had food, drink and bag on it, we set a guard system so one of us was always at the table. They would pinch sunbeds and suncream if left- but when told to move on they would, they would be very loud in the early hours we had 3 nights of playing in the pool from 2am-5am- The children would pinch any toy lying around and became aggressive if you tried to take it back. This did make us very wary but the other British guests kept our sprits up- We have never laughed so much through such rudeness. The only thing I would say is to avoid the Eqyptian Holidays as this hotel do treat you like Royalty- nothing is too much trouble. My special thanks to our cleaner, George (restaurant); Mohammed (pool), The shop man in the reception-who always treated my daughter like royalty when she went in to buy from him. The taxi gentleman were excellent and would take you anywhere -you then arrange a time to pick up and they would always be there on time- you only pay on your return to hotel and of course Hassan the manager. He arrived back from holiday to a lot of grief due to the other guests- I did go to thank his staff as he does have the best we have ever met and he did kindly sort a room for our last afternoon meaning our daughter had a wonderful last day. The air con in our room was amazing, the safe deposit is free.Soho Square is fab to visit as you are not hassled in the shops and has some wonderful outside entertainment.

Room Tip: Block 5 is very near everything

We were late arriving (11.pm) and were told there would be late supper at midnight. This consisted of soup, pasta and rolls. Not very nice but plenty of fruit juice available. We had booked one double and one 3 bedded room. There was no third bed and eventually a sun lounger was brought to the room. Despite assurance that a full bed would be sent it never materialised. However as it was used by a child it was just about suitable but not what we paid for.
The restaurant was OK, we always managed to get a table for 5. The food was not particularly appetizing. Breakfast was bland and only one cereal available with warm milk. Lunch consisted of soup, pasta, rice, salads and an abundance of sweet sticky cakes. There was fish every day but having tried it once, I found it to be undercooked so didn't try again. Hot food was cooked outside. Chips were available very lunch time and pizza. Dinner again was bland and unappetising. The hot food - again cooked outside - was OK and there was always something edible. The children found the choice of food very poor. However, George kindly provided grilled chicken, chicken nuggets and even boiled eggs for them. There was no fruit which we missed. We went to Burger Waves but found it too hot to enjoy a meal in comfort. This had to be booked the day before - but was often not possible as those that continually complained seemed to eat there daily. When we were able to book it was never available before 8.30pm but no more than 2 or 3 tables in use - very odd!
For the first few days we felt preferential treatment was given to non English speakers. For example a Russian man left the pool bar with a bottle of vodka; my daughter was shouted out for trying to take a plate of chips out of the restaurant - yet other nationalities were taking huge plates of food to the pool and their rooms. One lady even took a huge plate of cakes to the theatre and nothing was said. The entertainment team always seemed to talk to the same children. Pushing in on the slides seemed to be the norm, there was no system at all. Pushing in at the bars and restaurant also seemed to be part of expected behaviour.
Many Arabic spreaking children were totally out of control, taking everything from sunbeds to play with - water pistols, balls, lilos even sun cream, then wrap themselves in our towels. Ice cream was thrown into the pool, empty plastic cups left floating on top of the water. In fairness, Tito (entertainment team) and pool staff were fantastic and told them to stop when they were made aware of the incidents.
I consider that the hotel cannot be held responsible for the bad behaviour of guests but perhaps should be more assertive with parents that do not modify the behaviour of their children and also ensure that hotel rules regarding taking food away is clear and applies to everyone.
When the Manager, Hassan, returned from holiday there was an immediate and marked difference and he was always around to speak to. Most noticable was the change in the entertainment team who then made apointed effort to introduce themselves to the children and encourage them to join in. Tito said if we found the music too loud it could be turned down, but it was fine. Once the ice was broken the team were great with the children except for the one that ran the childrens club who did not speak to us for the whole holiday and made no effort to get to know the children.
i agree the rooms are a bit dated but we were given the rooms and block we requested. The room was clean (and cleaned daily); water did start brown but soon cleared; water was always hot. We loved the daily towel art on the bed. Air Con was working all the time and a blessing in the heat of the day.
The staff were polite and tried to accommodate any request made.
having been to Egypt many times (though never to Sharm) this is the first time we never got Egyptian tummy, but we have learnt not too much sun; no alcohol and watch what you eat for the first few day until used to the heat and change in diet. I think that indicates the food was not that bad!!!!!
Our special thanks to Tito, George and Mohammed (restaurant); Mohammed (pool) and of course Hassan the manager. The shop staff too were great fun and bartering was part of the holiday.
Overall, yes there were some hiccups, but it was a fantastic holiday which we all enjoyed. The children felt safe (apart from the above mentioned issues). I wouldn't go for the massage again, overpriced and not a very nice experience.
I would recommend a wider variety of food, especially cheese and fruit but appreciate that this can be difficult when trying to cater for various nationalities.
Would we go again, yes.

Room Tip: Block 5 or 6 is near beach pool, restaurant and theatre.

We have just returned from this hotel again and had an amazing stay once again. This is due to the staff and how welcoming and friendly they are. Tito, Karina and Ronnie are second to none. Sied kept us entertained with his comical ways and the added bonus of having his son spending quality time with his dad at resort learning English was a pleasure. This shows how the complex is so family focussed by supporting their own employees by allowing this. Well done!. Tarek at the pool bar, Charlie in Morgans bar and Mohammed Pool Manager adds their own personal touch to make us feel like friends looking after us all day every day. Admittedly, I agree this time the whole complex needs money spending on it and this is bringing down the hard work of the staff making the reviews less positive. This is the only time we have been where Egyptian guests have been rude and at times, very disrespectful towards other nations. This is NOT the Egyptian way and even the staff were embarrassed. The lack of space in restaurants at meal times added to the mayhem and this upset guests. This really needs addressing and opening of all the restaurants (3) for every mealtime may help. Burger Waves is good but it would be nice to see more variety in all restaurants. The main pool really needs to be shut for a short time for repair. With so many pools, I cant see this being a problem. We will continue to visit the Palmyra purely for the personal service and our friends in the staff. Mr Hassan, missing Palmyra already and while you all do such a good job, we will be back in April 15 x

I don't understand the top reviews on here as I would never go back to this hotel.

The swimming pools were not always clean. The main pool floor is coming up and desperately needs to be redone. The area around the main pool regularly smells of sewage.

The rooms were ok but the plumbing is rubbish we regularly had no water and you had to leave the water to run clear as at first came out orange.

It was the egyptians holiday time when we was there and they made us feel very uncomfortable and were given special treatment.

The restaurant is too small for a hotel this size and never enough choice of food.

The majority of staff work very hard but I was inappropriately touched the first night by a member of staff who was later sacked so not a good start to the holiday.

Way too far from the beach with access by mini bus which is regularly overloaded.

I would say pay extra and stay somewhere nicer.

After reading various reviews I feel I must have been in another hotel!

Having holidayed in Egypt over 10 times I appreciate that a 4* hotel in egypt is not the same as in other countries.
I was traveling with my husband, daughter and daughter's boyfriend who I think will never return to Egypt as this hotel has tarnished his first experience of this country.
On arrival at the hotel at approx 9.30pm we were informed that the restaurant was closed but our meal would be brought to our rooms. About 30 minutes later we were telephoned in our room to say our dinner was ready in the restaurant. On arrival at the restaurant we were informed that it would not be ready till midnight?!!
Next morning, on arrival to the restaurant it was like feeding time at the zoo, there were a lot of people pushing & shoving to get to the food and then to find a table, please note recent reviews have also mentioned this, we ending up sharing a table with a russian couple who looked as shocked as us at the bedlam that was happening around us.
As mentioned by other reviewers the floor in the restaurant was cleaned with a cloth over a squeegee type mop - very hygienic!
This occurred for every meal we took in the restaurant, we did however book to eat in the Burger Waves restaurant for all remaining evening meals as there was no pushing and shoving and the atmosphere was much more civilized, however, we didn't go on holiday to be restricted to eating nothing but a limited choice of burgers for a week.
You can get snacks of chips, burgers and pizza halves from outside of the restaurant but again you have to queue for some considerable time to get them maybe because people dont want to go into the restaurant.

Not wanting to be by the large pool, with the animation team and the very loud music that goes on from 10am to gone 7pm every day (so loud they blew the speakers one day) we stayed by the "quiet, adult only" pool, only to discover shouting russians and small children in the pool, so not so quiet and adult friendly.

Wi-fi is only available in the reception area which is a very pleasant, clean, spacious but busy area and it takes a very long time to log.

I could advise of other problems with this hotel but that would only repeat other reviews comments on water colour, sewage smell, maintenance etc.

The positives however are our cosmos rep Mehmoud who helped with organizing our diving trips with a very professional dive shop based outside the Iberotel Palace hotel, the staff in general are very friendly and helpful and that I will never return to this hotel and it has not put me off returning to egypt.

Room Tip: block 5 is near to everything and one of the newer blocks so rooms better

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to express your point of view about the resort , i have wrote earlier that major project will be done end of july 2014 toward the smell from irrigation and it is done already last week invested 75.000 LE to install new blowers and now the smell gone , regrading the local customers we always advise our international clients about the local vacations which started at last 2 weeks of June end of august and that happen all over hotels in Egypt and it is not easy to adapt their quality and behavior hopefully next season all hotels back to it is normal and we get our shares from Scandinavians ,dutch,Belgium and Germans as hotels used to be and have our normal standards of service offered once again let me thank and be sure that all your comment are taken seriously into our plans looking forward seeing you again to make it up for your good self ,
