“Hotel Nice, Food Terrible and to many Mosquito's”
Reviewed 22 May 2012

We went on honeymoon for 10 days to this hotel and were pleasantly surprised on our arrival with the hotel. Accommodation was lovely and the staff. Food was terrible we ate out the last 5 nights as we could not face the repetitive food anymore. Also by reception and the bar area at night the mosquito's came out in droves. I lost count at how many times we had been bitten. I had 5 visits to the doctor’s surgery twice to go on a drip and 3 injections. Totally ruined our experience of Egypt and our honeymoon. The staff were great apart from the rep Ahmed who was useless. The pool guy El Syed was great what a star he was always joking around. As you have probably guessed we will not be returning to Laguna Vista Gardens.

we stayed at laguna vista gardens from 3rd may 2012 for 2 weeks, Our first impressions of staff and hotel were very positive. Our room was large, clean and airy. Ali the bell hop was fantastic and showed us all around the room and insisted on taking both our cases. He didnt even put his hand out for a tip, (we did tip him). We then chose to explore the complex and as you can also use the beach complex on the other side of the road, this proved to be a fairly complex exploration. We located the restaurants and bars. Mohammed was the chef in the morning who was by the omelette and pancake station (highly recommended) he got very flash with his omelettes towards the end of our stay. Elsayed the pool/towel guy was great, and despite the earlier review stating that he was aggressive, this proved to be untrue, he was polite and respectful at all time and at no time did he ever demand any money from us despite him laying out fresh towels every morning for us and even showing how the room guys make the towel animals etc by making up a crocodile for us. once again thank you elsayed for being a wonderful guy. Ahmed in the restaurant was a huge joker and very friendly and was true and attentive. Little mohammed in the bar was just great, was sorry when he was transferred over to the beach on a staff rotation along with kiko.
Now to the bad bits
The food was cold, not really surprising when you realise that they are trying to keep the food warm in antiquated food tins with tea lights underneath. (not the stafffs fault but owners/management for not spending money on food serveries) the food is very samey samey, but having spoken with other guests who had stayed in sharm before, this hotels choice is actually better than most. Everyone i spoke to ended up eating out for a bit of variety, and all have had upset stomachs (take plenty of immodium with you) When a complaint went in about the food temperature, this was addressed but only by putting bigger tea lights in. (owners you actually need to spend a bit of money on this hotel, especially in the restaurants as you could lose your 4 star plus rating) variety was also increased a bit too.
However even with the above bad bits, the holiday was great and we will come back

one word of warning about the gardener with the limp, do NOT accept anything from him as he will then constantly creep up on you and demand money from you, please note he only does this when your partner/husband is not around, so can be quite scary.

The Laguna Vista Garden has all the things we were looking for in an Egyptian holiday, and some we did not need. The rooms are a reasonable size with a good bathroom and are cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding every day. The towel creations by the cleaner Mohammed were excellent, the only thing missing was a kettle for that early morning cup of coffee. We had room 117 which other guest said was at the posh quiet end, not that there's a noisy end, overlooking the whirlpool. El Sayed the great guy who looks after the pools and towels greeted us shortly after we arrived at our room and asked us to select a place to sit each day near our room. We chose a wicker pod with double mattress and two sun loungers, these were then made available to us every day of our two week stay, with fresh towels laid out each morning, no early morning scramble to get a bed. The food in the restaurant was no better or worse than other Egyptian hotels, but the Garden restaurant was a nicer place than the one at the Laguna Beach, the sister hotel across the road, which was more like a canteen with bright lighting and many people rushing around.
This hotel is probably the only one that we have visited, in five trips to Egypt, that we would consider coming back too. The only problem with the hotel was the mosquitoes, many people had bites from ankles to knees. The hotel can fix this by spraying every evening like all the other hotels that we have visited in Egypt do, but this did not happen despite the continuous complaints, they only sprayed the gardens once in the evening. Stay away from mosquito alley between reception and the pool bar where all the comfortable seats are, you have been warned.

Room Tip: Ask for a single storey room at the whirlpool end.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, it is not on the beach but just across the road from the sister hotel, you can enjoy the sister hotels bars, restraunts and indoor swimming pool,(heated) only set back no pools are heated outside, it is in La strada the heart of naqa bay , mcdonalds , kentucky and many shops right at your door step and a large supermarket with cheap cigs , just along from the orential hotel, another great hotel, the rooms are like small bunglows fantastic , no need really to go to namma bay everything is the same here (to buy) , I mean

Room Tip: all excellent

Me and wife came here in January 2010 for her bday and found it relaxing and enjoyable.

hotel was clean and tidy with beautiful views of the gardens.

Sharm is known for its all inclusives for food and drink. Food was delicous with the hotels plentiful buffets.

They had a decent standard gym on the beach side of the hotel. And the pool and views were fantastic. The pool in the garden side was nowhere near as good. Rooms are very nice. They are styled like little huts, but are very spacious inside.

location was good, as we wanted a relaxing time, that is why we chose nabq bay as opposed to nama bay.

Although we went for a week, if you dont plan to visit Cairo it would be too long. You just have to do a Cairo day trip to see the ancient wonders that lie there.

a negative for the hotel is the staff are very aggressive (especially the pool boy) who shamelessly asked for tips although he didnt do anything. This was a trend followed across most of the shops which wasnt welcome. Best way to get around it is to not speak a popular language, as you will get hounded.

I recommend they savoy complex as a must see.

I have stayed there in april 2006 with may husband. There was my honeymoon trip.
And we have got a small room with no wiew -there was a garbage on the left side on the hotel and smoking, laud German neighbours behind the doors-there was a shared room first?
After 2 days disscussion and my tears we finally had a room with a sea front wiew and kingsize bed.
Great cleanless, very good italian food, great garden and pools.
Only one negative-a hotel had no marina and the reaf is qute far away- if you love snorkeling...

Room Tip: Ask for a seafront wiew.

I was after somewhere quiet for our holiday and this hotel didn't disappoint. We had a ground floor room towards the end of the pool which had a good view of the gardens and pool and was great for popping back to from the sunbeds. The room was nice and large with a good bathroom area, we were a bit disappointed in the standard of the cleaning though - clean sheets, towels etc but the place was a bit dusty and we had to ask for the correct amount of towels on 2 occasions. This was only a minor issue though.

The main asset of this hotel (apart from the gorgeous grounds and great chalet style rooms) are the staff; from the pool guy who had our towels out waiting for us every day, to the gardeners (who kept the place immaculate), the pool bar staff and especially the waiters, who were brilliant and a good laugh. They couldn't do enough for us. My husband just casually asked one night if the chef was cooking omelettes? The reply was 'no, not this evening' and then the next thing he knows is that he has 2 brought to the table - great service!! Yasser, Ahmed and the guys were great, they always had a wave and a cheery hello. We thought the food was good, there was a huge selection with every night having a different theme - we especially loved the Egyptian night as the food was gorgeous. I was wary about the salad until I found out that it was all washed in bottled water and ate salad every day after that - no issues at all. We are therefore a bit puzzled as to why some reviewers think the food is awful!! You also get 2 bottles of water with every meal which was great for keeping you well hydrated.

We had a stroll across to the Laguna Beach hotel over the road on a couple of evenings for a drink and they had a piano player and violinist on which was a nice change. We didn't try the food in this hotel though.

You could also walk from the Laguna Beach hotel down onto the beach and then along the prom onto a couple of the jettys which went out quite a way into the sea, as this area is quite shallow. Having been to stay at Sharks Bay previously where you can see huge numbers of fish, the lack of fish here was a bit disappointing, so we didn't bother to go snorkeling.

We were really quite sad to leave the resort on our last day as we had thoroughly enjoyed our stay, particularly meeting a lovely couple whilst there (Hi Alec & Juliet!). One thing that did dampen the departure was to be told by the guy removing our cases from the transfer coach that we couldn't have them unless we tipped him!! I don't think so !! (This was not the hotels coach I may add).

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay and not wanting to have entertainment going on night and day.
