“Gillian D Excellent holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

This is the second year me & my husband have stayed at the Jaz Mirabel complex. Last year the park , this year the beach for two weeks. We could not fault it. The accommodation, amenities and food were first class. All staff were friendly & very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. I took ill during the first week of our stay and received treatment at the on site medical centre. The staff were very professional and made me feel at easy during my treatment. I can not thank them enough. We would definetely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to travel to Sharm El Sheik.

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Mirabel Beach. Myself, hubby and 15yr old son. We had a fantastic time. I'll start with the bad points (just two) ...

1) The jetty isn't finished. This is through no fault of the hotel. Three years ago the Egyptian government put stop to all building work so they haven't been able to finish it. Unfortunately this has had a knock on effect on the coral as far too many people are walking on it and killing it, this meant not many fish to see in the shallows. However, my hubby and son did climb down the end of the jetty into deep water and said the snorkelling there was amazing.

If its snorkelling you want then the hotel jettys to the left and right will allow you onto them (at a charge) or grab a taxi to St Georges Bay (public beach) as that's a great place. Also a fab FREE place to snorkel is to the left of the hotel. Follow the path or beach to the left, passed the shanty type beach huts and walk to the bay by the disused hotel called Tiran Sharm. There are beach umbrellas for shade and you can swim straight into deep water for tons of fish spotting.

The stopping of all building work by the government also means that you'll see an awful lot of wasteland / building sites / desolate areas, while you are there, where work has had to stop.

2) The family restaurant. We ate in there only on our first night. Oh My God. Horrendous place, like a school canteen made worse by the fact that a lot of families (didn't seem to be English) let their kids run riot around the tables causing mayhem at times.

After the first night we had a look at the adult restaurant and realised our teenage son was most welcome and gents were now being allowed to wear shorts to the evening meal. The rule for long trousers having been dropped. The adult restaurant was lovely. Relaxing and a nice atmosphere. We tended to sit in the same place for breakfast and evening meals which meant we had the same waiter for the 2 weeks (Saied). Such a nice bloke. Nothing was too much trouble. Never saw our drinks empty and knew exactly what we were drinking each day. The food was apparently the same in both family & adult restaurants and I must say no one in my family had any complaints. All hot and tasty and plenty to choose from everyday.

As for the hotel .... gorgeous grounds, clean hotel and rooms, lovely friendly staff who do some seriously long days. We didn't have a pool waiter (some did) but they were worked hard enough as it was and we used the walk to the bar as a reason to grab some much needed shade !!

Tipping is not expected by any of the staff. They look after their guests very well without tips, but we tipped our waiter and our cleaner along with a couple of others who went out of their way for us to make our stay that much better.

Its the little things that go a long way to making a holiday and this hotel and staff do just that.

Ps : don't bother with Thompson excursions, they are over priced. We used Jasmine Tours instead. A lovely local Egyptian company run by Alex and his English wife. Great trips and a mifi unit provided by them for our stay (see separate review).

Would I go back to this hotel ? Yes, as even in peak season it still didn't seem busy around the pool or in the adult restaurant. Never felt over crowded and we had a lovely relaxing and hot holiday ... never a cloud in the sky. Perfect !!

Room Tip: 1380 - pool view & sea view. No problems with the room. Spacious and clean. It's in the furt...

Very poor food choice and quality. The Jaz Mirabel is a lovely resort that does not live up to its potential. Definitely not a 5 star and not worthy of its platinum status. Overall a disappointing experience.

just got back from this hotel.had a fantastic 14 days, all staff are friendly and helpful, especially Ahmed Yahia from the adult restaurant.Rooms were spotlessly clean and had fresh towels and bedlinen daily. Only had 1 problem with the air conditioning, but after complaining to reception several times, this was fixed. Will definetly return to this hotel, have been to Egypt 7 times and this is the best by far.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

We have just spent 10 days as the Jas Mirabel resort and overall it was a great vacation for myself, wife and 7 year old daughter. Having traveled extensively across many areas of the world this was my first trip to Egypt and it met the overall expectations that I assumed it would have.

To begin with we had to push for a lot of solutions and amenities that I would think be satisfactory. We arrived late due to an airport delay and were given a family room in Block D which when arriving at past 12 was pretty drab, smelt of sewage (I think that the cesspit had been emptied earlier) and the view from the balcony was of a mesh fence.....not great. I complained straight away in the "middle eastern manner" and within 20 minutes we had a really nice garden side room in block S.

The pools were great and if you have small children they will love them as its really warm. The beach again was clean and spacious but to be honest just too hot down there - one day we went into the shallow lagoon and it was like a hot bath - the fish looked distressed!

As people have mentioned the main issues why this isn't a 5* is the tiny plastic cups for drinking around the pool. The Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice that self serve is cordial..not real juice and the Family restaurant can be very frenetic - it does remind me of days at Pontins from my youth! If you find a waiter that looks after your stay that can be really helpful - they will save a table for you and get you drinks....but you have to tip - not daily - a little on the first day and a bit more at the end.

One slightly worrying issue was security on one day. My wife was in the ground floor room when she spied a shifty character eying up a backpack that was on our bed - he could see through a crack in the net curtains and the patio door was slightly open. She warned him off but you need to be careful. Once mentioned to the security head there was a visible increase in staff which was good to see.

Tipping is king here - even though it's not mentioned. Top tips would be for a restaurant waiter who will look after you during your stay, the pool attendants that will reserve you a good spot, the cleaners and a bar staff - especially at the kids disco. It doesn't need to be much £6 for the canteen waiter was fine for 10 days.

One of the secret areas that isn't promoted too much is the water slides next to the Spa. We found them near the end of the holiday and our daughter loved them. Worth a go as they are on complex at Mirabel Park....you can go to all these areas / Beach / Park & Club.

Overall I would recommend going here if you have kids, love the sun - its so hot - you love pools and hanging out by them and you aren't overly fussed by the "canteen" feel to the restaurant. Its not a 5* - maybe a strong 3*** Plus. If you go to it with that mentality then you'll be really happy - if you go there thinking 5* Sensatori for example then you'll be disappointed. Solid AI package holiday and priced accordingly.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that don't back onto the pool area / beachfront. Not great and will disappoint. In...

Just got back this morning, this is the 2nd time of going to this hotel, and we were very disappointed this time, we were constantly asking for towels and loo paper. In my daughters room they had water coming in through the ceiling they told reception plus the cleaner rang through to someone aswell and it took 5 hours for them to come and sort it.
We had no sheet on our bed 1 night I rang laundry 4 times in a hour and half, they said they were sending one up we never received 1 at all!
As I said this was our 2nd time and the hotel did not acknowledge that at all even tho the bell boy and waitering staff remembered us.
Yes it is all plastic cups around pool, if the cocktail you want has an ingredient they have run out of they just put remainder ingredients
in and think you would not notice, most of the evening bar staff are ignorant but George is the best one there and polite and friendly.
They decided to allow men to wear shorts in the evening when it clearly states long trousers!
I am so disappointed that I am looking at different hotels now for next year in sharm el sheikh we will not be
going back again!!
