My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 10 day stay in Sea Club. To say we felt let down by this hotel is a understatment.
Reception Staff were lovely when you first arrive but as the holiday went on, i found all of the staff were rude, unhelpful and seemed to be irritated by being asked simple questions. Most of the reception staff did not speak good english.
Bar Staff and room cleaners were fantastic! always very happy and welcoming. Always stop for a chat and felt very well looked after. George,Gamal and Waheeb from the Baracuda Bar made our holiday. Without them it would have been alot worse.
The grounds were very well kept until after 7 days, then the hotel had checked in a large amount of Eygption quests. They were throwing rubbish and food on the floor and into the swimming pool. They would push infront of you when queing for drinks or food. We personally found that Eyqption guests were able to take food from the resturant to the pool side. But when my boyfriend and i tried to, we were told it was not allowed. This was also spoken about by many other british guests. We were warned Russian guests were the rude ones. not Eygptions.
Food was awful. always cold and very tasteless. If you wanted Fish Lasagne, lettece or Spagetti you would have been in heaven as this was served ALOT. there were other dishes available but were always cold. even if you got to the resturant when it opened for dinner etc. There was an awful smell of sour milk by the fruit juice machine in the morning. We reported this to the reception manager on the first day. 10 days later they hadnt cleaned it up. This was disgusting. Also there was a bird stuck in the main resturant for the whole duration on the holiday, which we also complained about as there was bird poo down the window above tables where we were asked to eat. For somewhere who have their food hygene certificate on the wall. This was appauling.
DO NOT BE FOOLED. the hotel is NOT all inclusive. you have to pay extra for Fresh fruit juice, ice cream and expresso's.
Pool Area. Was spotlessly clean until the Eygption families were there and throwing food and plastic cups in the pool.
Rooms - We asked for a ground floor,sea view room which we did get. the room was dated and tired, the shower curtain was grey and we had a awful dirty rug put in our room. The cleaner did the best he could by covering the room in great towel animals and flowers daily for us.
Excursion Reps - We have a mixed opinion on the excursion reps. Some of them would be fine with you saying you were not intrested and saying no thank you but some other excursion reps would NOT stop harrassing you about quad biking, massages, and every other trip you are asked to buy. WARNING TO EVERYONE. do not book the quad biking with the man by the pool. he is selling it for double the price of most quad biking companies.
A'la Carte - Japanese was beautifully cooked infront of you. Lebanese wasnt great and Itailain wasnt great either. We booked the Japanese twice as it was so great.
Also. by the Baracuda bar 2 ladies witnessed rats run across their feet as there was piles of food in the bush from where kids had thrown it around. The rep or reception didnt care at all.
Thomas Rep - Ashraf.... what an awful rep. He was no help to us at all. We went to him for various reasons. The problems were not resolved. Also when we were waiting to leave the hotel Ashraf recieved a text on his phone and left the hotel. 2 Minutes later the Thomson Bus Driver informed us that we had a delay between 2-4 hours! Ashraf obviously didnt want to inform us himself as when my boyfriend called him asking why he didnt inform us, he put the phone down.
To everyones standards thats unacceptable behaviour. especially when he is supposed to be there for us, which is what he is writing on the cards he puts through your door nearly every day. I ended up contacting the UK and spending £25 of mobile credit to call Thomson and ask about when we would be picked up.
The great thing is that Sharm El Sheik is fantastic. The nightlife is great, the shops were great fun bartering and good bars to eat and drink. But we would NOT return to the sea club resort, But would return to another hotel. sadly not with Thomson either. The 2 stars i would give the resort is for the location being close to the airport, soho square and Nama Bay. Also the cleaners and barmen! they do not get enough for the long hours and great service they provide.
If you want to go Scuba Diving in Sharm. Get a taxi to the Marriott hotel - Outside the hotel is a shop called Mr Diver. We went diving with them and it was FANTASTIC! The professional divers were chatting to us about their lifes aswell as diving. The induction was great, explained alot in depth. would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn while diving.
