“Would definitely go back!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

After reading previous reviews on here prior to our trip, we were unsure what to expect from this hotel, but still went with an open mind.
Straight away we were impressed when the reception staff gave us two couples a family room each, which included 2 large double beds in each with a seating area etc.
You can't fault the hotel itself at all, with a 5 star rating, it is a huge resort(like most in Sharm), and well looked after! The hotel is on the beach and if your room is in the Tiran block like ours, it is in very close walking distance! Only problem on beach is the amount of hassle you get from people selling things, even if you do get one of the 'do not disturb' signs!!
The service throughout the hotel is very good. The reception staff you cannot complain about at all, they were extremely welcoming right from the start, we did not have to deal with them often, but when we did they were very helpful and friendly. Especially when we went to book one of our rooms for a couple of extra hours on the last day, and they gave it to us free of charge!
The waiters & bar staff we mostly all happy to help and always working hard. The staff at the Lunar bar were always willing to bring drinks over to our tables for the whole week after us giving them a small week at the start. ( always helps! ). I don't know if it is the way they are told to work in this hotel, but we found that in the Riviera restaurant the waiters didn't bring drinks over to tables, we had to go to the bar and order ourselves - although did notice a few tables being waited on.
The staff on the beach were very friendly, there are two very lovely men who every morning helped us find sunbeds and moved them wherever we liked, and they always remember us and our friends every day!!
Our maid in our room was brilliant the first few days, water in our room every day, towel art on the bed, everything. But did start to go downhill towards the end of the week. He did also once just wander in to our room mid afternoon (whilst we were having a nap) with 2 other men, after knocking just twice, and decided he was going to change our curtain?!
There are two main all inclusive restaurants in the hotel which served breakfast lunch and dinner. Also 3 gourmet restaurants and 3 bars which provide snacks throughout the day.
Overall the food was good, we were always able to find something we liked so never went hungry! Wouldn't rate the Portofino restaurant (Italian), the set menu for the free all inclusive meal was very limited. We all had pizza for our mains, which was meant to be spicy, but was extremely bland. Food in the main restaurants was much more tasteful!!
Overall - this hotel is a 5 star with a 3 star price, and can't moan about much at all, every hotel has it's bad points so we don't always expect perfection. I would not hesitate to go back again and may even book to go back next year!

Room Tip: Ask for the Tiran block!

After feeling a little apprehensive about arrival into Egypt (this was our first time here) our minds were very quickly put at ease once we got to the Sharm Grand Plaza resort. We were greeted by the very friendly and professional reception staff who brought us a nice little welcome cocktail while we were filling out the arrival papers then escorted to the reception bar area where a little spread of food was waiting for us. We were then shown to our room while our suitcases were taken care of by the staff. Our room (1216 Tiran block) was really big with a nice big balcony overlooking the lagoon style swimming pool, the room was spotlessly clean and tidy and the beds were more comfortable than my own with lovely quality sheets being used. The grounds of the hotel are absolutely immaculate with hotel staff constantly tending the lovely gardens, pools and beach ensuring everywhere is kept spotless. We had an afternoon in the hotel spa where the staff could not do enough for you and it was such good value for money. Now on to the food, as a very fussy eater who is also vegetarian this was an area of worry for me however, I could not fault the food at all. I found something to eat all meal times and the wonderful riviera restaurant staff will do anything they can to accommodate your needs, the chefs will even make something different for you out of the ingredients they have in front of them although there is always a vast spread of food including salads, different types of potatoes, soups, veg dishes, meat dishes, pastas, gorgeous breads and lets not forget the huge array of delicious deserts. The coffee is really good too!! We also ate in Portofino Italian restaurant one evening which was really lovely and another evening we tried Falafel the Egyptian restaurant which was absolutely delicious so highly recommend both. Now on to the Animacion Team, well these guys are absolutely amazing and fun fun fun. They literally never stop morning until night. Michael manages the Team so well, they get everyone involved without been forceful and although we preferred to watch from the sidelines the pool music games were great and a highlight of our mornings. There was football, volleyball, water aerobics, dancing, darts and all sorts before we even get to the evening entertainment which again was lots of fun with fire shows, belly dancing, Mr & Mrs - plenty of variety for everyone. Lucy the English Customer relations girl came around to chat to us throughout our stay to ensure we where happy with everything and one night the hotel Management Team held a cocktail party to meet and greet guests and find out how we were enjoying our stay which we felt was a really nice touch so a big thank you to Ahmed. All of the staff at the hotel are so happy, friendly and very helpful, there is a huge sense of pride and genuine willingness to help you with whatever they can. We highly recommend that you take a dip in the sea off the end of the jetty as the coral and sea life there is the best I have ever seen in the world, there is hotel staff there to assist you too! Overall we had an absolutely fantastic holiday and highly recommend Sharm Grand Plaza if you are visiting Egypt - we will be back to stay ASAP! Carrie & Sarah, West Yorkshire

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2013

Our second holiday to Sharm Grand Plaza was back in September (sorry for delay on writing review!) and the only word I can use to describe it was - amazing!!
As it was to be our second visit I emailed the hotel and spoke to one of the management team- Waleed- as soon as I had booked to request 2 rooms close together as 2 friends were also coming along.
When we arrived we were made to feel welcome and told that our rooms were in the Tiran block (stayed in Coral the previous year) but they were on different floors- we asked if this could be changed but they assured us that when we saw the rooms and the view we would not want to change rooms.... well they were right, we had the most fantastic room- absolutely huge with two seating areas and a balcony that on one side looked straight out onto the sea and the other looked over the gardens and onto one of the pools, the views were unbelievable.
On our first day we all had an afternoon in the Spa which I loved, we had time in the sauna and steam rooms, Jacuzzi, a full body massage and a coconut rub which smelled beautiful. Well worth what we paid and I would definitely recommend it!
I won’t go into too much detail as my previous review will tell you anything else you need to know but just to mention a few things sometimes forgotten- this resort is immaculate- always clean, no litter, pools are cleaned every night and the beach was litter free. The resort has everything you could need on site- shops, a doctor/pharmacy, hairdressers, a spa ect.
The food is great, always something even for a fussy eater to have and if you don’t fancy anything there, speak to a chef and they will make you something different- this is what baffles me when I see poor reviews for the food- they are willing to do anything to make your stay the best it can be so speak to them!
There is daily entertainment, Sam seems to lead this and he is excellent, always saying good morning to everyone and trying to get people involved without pressurising you into it, he put a smile on our faces every day! I would recommend watching the Fire show it was awesome!
The management hold cocktail evenings to greet all guests and ask your thoughts and how your holiday is going which gives you a chance to let them know of any ideas or improvements you can think of that could work at the hotel, they are willing to listen to anything you have to say and consider your suggestions which I think is great as other hotels would just forget them as soon as you say it or not even bother asking.
The snorkelling off the Jetty is a must- absolutely beautiful, there are literally fish swimming around you as soon as you get in, take a waterproof camera if you have one! Also I would recommend water shoes as the coral can be quite sharp. They will also let you swim off the Jetty if it is safe to do so which I find very reassuring in that they care about your safety.
I can honestly say I was gutted to come home but I am already looking at booking again for next year and I will return to this Hotel over and over again as it feels like a little home from home now and I don’t believe that I could find another hotel in Nabq with the same hospitality that ticks all the boxes for the amazing value for money you get with this hotel. All of the staff are amazing but I would just like to say a special Thank You to Waleed who was exceptional, I spoke to him when I booked and he answered all my questions, arranged our beautiful rooms for us and made an effort to come speak to us to ensure we were having a fantastic time, he is a real asset to the hotel.
Will be back soon!! Kerry & Daryl

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely and large- Tiran block is most central

Our first time to Sharm, picked this hotel for location,, and value for money and, not to many kids activities.
we was not disappointed, hotel very clean, gardens where superb.
The staff, made the holiday could not do enough for us, the hotel was low occupancy the first 2 weeks, but they all had a smile on their faces, Rabeer our waiter catered for our every need, the chefs would listen to comments and correct them, even cook us Om Ali pudding every time we wanted it.
The animation staff a great laugh.
Lucy the English customer relations person sorted out all our issues, had a smile on her face all day.
we only had one real gripe which was in the evening when you had finished your evening meal, drinking wine out of glasses, it was no longer available. also you only had one bar open in the evening the Luna bar around the pool, so you was back to plastic we hope when we return the new air conditioned bar will hopefully be near to opening, this will make a lot of difference.
But we have to say, we found a way round the problem we look wine from the restaurant up the the large balcony and drank there it.
Food we always found something to eat, was a good standard, the 2 la carte restaurants where great.
all in all in the 3 weeks we never got board of food, drink, we will return again soon.
Thanks to all staff, management for making our stay so relaxing,

Room Tip: we had room 2201 over looking the beach was worth paying the upgrade for the amount of time there

We have just returned from our second stay at The Sharm Grand Plaza and it was better than last year. We had requested the same room as last year (Coral 4304) and was delighted that our request had been granted. The hotel is not the biggest in Sharm but right from the moment you arrive your feel a sense of welcome.
The reception is bright and airy and the staff are very welcoming, courteous and professional in what they do. They offer you a very refreshing drink whilst you complete the obligatory paper work required which is very nice after the transfer from the airport. Then your suitcases are taken for you as you are shown to your room.
The room was beautiful and clean as it was for the whole 10 days of our stay. The bedding is of high quality and the towels are changed every day. Shortly after our arrival at our room our room attendant Amir knocked on the door and said that if there was anything we needed or that he could do for us we were only to ask. Due to the time of year and the mosquitoes Amir sprayed our room every night whilst we were out at dinner and he also left us two cans of spray one for the room and one for us as we had told him we were going into the dessert. This he did for no extra charge just out of thoughtful kindness.
There is plenty of food at every meal and I cannot understand how anyone can say that there was nothing to eat. For breakfast there is an array of cold meats, cheese, yogurts, pastry, salads and there is boiled eggs, beans, sausages and a station where you can have omelettes, fried or scrambled eggs made to your liking. At lunch and Dinner there was always two soups, a fish dish, two meat dishes, vegetables, chips, salads, and a pasta station where you could have fresh pasta made for you whilst you wait and of course a whole array of continental desserts. .They are even putting on some English dishes as requested by guests such as steak and kidney and shepherds pie.Two pool bars also put on fried fish and chicken, salads and chips. On a Saturday evening they have an English night at the restaurant by the beach where they put on music and a barbecue grill and every guest gets a free meal at one of the three al-a-carte restaurant, We went to the Portofino Italian restaurant which was fabulous. We ate mostly in the Palmera as we liked to eat outside overlooking the garden (We live in the north of England and we don't get this opportunity very often) and we got to know the staff very well. Abudl the breakfast chef is fabulous, he never stops smiling and you ought to see his trick with the omelettes just a great way to start a morning. All the waiters are great but a special mention must be made for Amira and Amr who were just great. If was my 60th Birthday whilst I was out there and they decorated my table with flowers and produced a birthday cake large enough to feed the whole restaurant (again at no extra charge just out of thoughtful kindness).
The bar staff work very hard and always have a smile on there face the drinks are great and they have a cocktail of the day. The fruit juice and the non alcoholic cocktails are fab and very refreshing. At the bars (there are four in total) you can also get tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
Now we get to the Animation Team!!!! These guys are great and work so very hard. They include everyone and join us all together. As I have said I am now 60 and my husband is 65 but they had us playing all sorts Russian, Polish, Ukraines, English all together it was fabulous. Whilst we were out and about we often heard about how the English were having difficulties with the Russians but in our hotel there was non of it we all got on really well together and a lot of that is down to the Animation team by including us all and getting us all to mix together. Michael is the boss, his team so obviously like him and this in turn relates to how they complete their jobs. A special mention has to go to Sam and Ryan who were fun, fun, fun all day every day. If they ever had a bad day during our stay then I surely did not see it. They were laughing, encouraging and engaging the guests all the time. No doubt about it a fabulous team.
There is a lot of behind the scenes activity that we don't see and so rarely gets a mention but if they weren't there you would notice. The pools were always clean, the gardens are immaculate, the grounds, toilets, seating areas are lovely and clean with no litter, the pool towels are clean and soft every day, and the security guards are friendly and reassuring.
I could not finish this review without mentioning the management team who are so accommodating. They hold a cocktail party, which you will get an invite to, where they talk to you about the hotel and ask you for your suggestions so that they can improve and make it more welcoming. During this meeting Mr Ahmed was telling us about the money they have spent on staff training and welfare and it shows. The management team are very present all around the hotel and they stop and talk to you and acknowledge your presence. The guest relations team is there to help you with anything you could want and it is obvious that the staff of the hotel enjoy working there.
I would like to thank the Sharm Grand Plaza for another wonderful holiday and I can't wait to see you all again very soon.
Jan and Paul S

Just returned from a 10 night stay in this hotel where we all had a fab time and would definitely recommend it and return in the future. The staff here really do go that extra mile to ensure that everything is as expected for all guests, even the duty manager would greet guests and ask if everything was ok.The whole animation team are a true credit to sharm grand plaza, all so friendly, comical and fun. They truly do put in 100% effort to acknowledge everyone considering the long hours they work, well done Ryan,Sam,sallah,Lucy,Michael and Ukrainian lady apologies for forgetting your name. Hotel/bar and restaurant staff are all very ,helpful and hardworking. Mustafa a chef from the main kitchen was very kind and went out of his way to take time to prepare our meals to our exact requirements and even remembered this throughout our stay, he was always happy to recommend dishes from the self service area of which there was always a varied choice of food to pick from. The on site Italian and Egyptian restaurants both require advance booking and the food is amazing,a bonus 1 x visit to these is included in your all inclusive trip. Our room was situated in the Tirana building very close to reception/main restaurant area/evening entertainment. It was very spacious and had all the necessities you would want such as A/C,fridge,safe,hair dryer, large balcony with table & chairs plus tv with English channels. Our room cleaner Ahmed was just great, nothing was too much trouble in fact he even provided us with insect repellent once he knew we had been bitten by Mosquitos. Ahmed made a great effort to decorate our room once he knew we were celebrating a birthday and also made various towel art designs for us to comeback to. The private beach is beautiful, and snorkelling of the pier here is a must. Various pool areas to choose from with the main area playing English music all day long and quieter pool areas for those who wish to just relax. Massive undercover hot tub close to the beach front, great for chilling out.Always plenty of sun loungers and 2 near by pool/beach bars. On site gym and spa available plus open late. The hotel run a free shuttle bus service to soho square,a good night out for everyone to enjoy. The hotel even presented us with a large chocolate birthday cake free of charge. This Hotel is in a great location near by shops/pharmacy/jive bar opposite hotel offers late night music, unlimited alcohol for just £15pp and free wifi/mcdonalds,KFC,Burger King, hard rock cafe and the 3 crowns English restaurant which serves great food are all within easy reach just £2 in taxi if you fancy something different to eat. Nice walk along the beach front in the evening where you can explore all neighbouring hotels. Overall great experience

Unless you are paying a great deal of money it is difficult to find a 5 star hotel in \Egypt, so 4 star is very much the norm, and with this in mind the Sharm Grand Plaza is excellent value.
The staff at this hotel are brilliant, from Adel the deputy manager, Mona & Sha welcoming you into the restaurant, Michael & Raide serving drinks,Maher & Mamon on the beach & Sarah in the exercise classes.
The chef Mustafa prepares first class dishes and is continually checking to make sure the guests are happy.
The setting with a large beach front is lovely, plenty of space for everyone. Nice rooms, but you will need a mosquito killer.
At this price we will definitely return
