“Excellent Staff, Terrible Food and in no way 5*”

On our arrival at the hotel, we were met with a grand entrance a warm welcome and friendly staff. A nice guy named Figo carried our bags up and did not expect a tip which was unusual. The room was huge with a pleasant balcony and over our 10 day holiday it was cleaned everyday and the housekeeping staff were great.
It is very obvious that the food at the hotel is not catered for the British. The hotel was 75% Russian when we were there and from the few times that we actually visited the restaurant it was obvious to realise why.
*VictoriaLeah* is spot on with her review with particular reference to the awful food. We were there for 10 days and out of the 30 opportunities we had to eat in the all inclusive restaurant, we ate there 5 times. Twice for breakfast once for lunch and twice for the evening meal. Each time i left hungry and disappointed with the variety of food and the quality of it.
After the first few days i spoke to the Guest Relations girl, Zara. In fairness she was great and put me in touch with the manager. He told me to ask the chefs to make me something different, that i may enjoy, very strange thing to say. NO APOLOGY was offered at all or even a complimentary meal in one of the other restaurants.
This meant that the holiday turned from a supposed all inclusive to a drinks only holiday where we had to dine outside of the hotel for all meals and the manager did not seem to mind. His only option being to ask the chefs to make me something.................. which i did and the chef point blank refused and stated that there was enough food within the buffet!!!!
Overall on the food side of things, i was angry, hungry and disappointed.
Before i mention the positives, the other negatives away from the food were that there was no FREE wifi (apparently browsing only) but it never worked, so i couldnt even check flight times or even read the news. To play pool for half an hour it was around £5 which is ridiculous. The hotel is all inclusive but every bar shuts at 11pm. There is no on demand food served throughout the day, there is no poolside service offered and if there was you practically had to bribe the guys to bring you anything. So there are the negative points.

However there were lots of positives, it just sucked that the negatives left us with such a sour taste in our mouths.
The room was great, we didnt have a great seaview and we were put in 1218 which was near enough to the pools and in a good location for the restaurants/bars etc. The room was cleaned everyday and the TV had lots to watch when we retired for the evening.
The hotel is right on the beach with plenty of sunbeds and the stunning coral reef to look at from the jetty.
The animation team are great and always energetic. They were great for tips and insider knowledge to help make the holiday better. The beach party on the Saturday was awesome and a great laugh, with a fire show and other entertainment thrown in.
Mooman was a great guy and worked very hard to please us and always put a smile on our faces around the pool. The italian restaurant that was onsite (Portafina) was fantastic. Awesome food and great service. Although the same cannot be said for the other a la carte places. The less said the better there really. The pools were greats and always refreshing, the all inclusive soft drinks were always cold and self service made it quick and easy.
99% of the staff there are amazing, constantly running around and never too busy to help you out if needed.
Overall a good holiday in sharm but i will not stay in this hotel again. Sorry guys.

In my view, the hotel is rough around the edges and there are bits which need to be done to bring it up to a realistic 5* hotel.

Just returned from our 10th visit to this hotel and once again had a great holiday a big thank you to all the management team for making our holiday so special.and thanks to Zara Foster for all her help.the rooms are spacious and clean as are the grounds of this hotel would recommend it as I've been to a few hotels in this area and have found this one to be the best in its price range.

Me and my partner stayed here and arrived back home yesterday. We had nothing but problems from the start. Firstly we paid for a ' delux sea view and requested a double bed ' upon our arrival we got given a family room with two single beds not something you want after recently becoming engaged! When we tried to bring this to managers attention no managers were ' available' and the standard reception staff are unable to do anything without managers consent. Eventually 5 days later we was moved to a so called deluxe room which was a standard room lol but had a nice view something we should of been given to begin with!! Then in the middle of the day whilst obviously out ' guest relations' come to check of we was ok! And wished us a nice stay for our first anniversary as a married couple We recently only got engaged I was unaware I had been married for a year !!! LOOL When we tried to find them on our return suprise suprise they weren't available! All inclusive isn't all inclusive internet is ' browser only' so you have to pay for facebook also you have to pay for the pool table use something I couldn't quite understand in a so called 5 star all inclusive.
The food was awful!!! Most of the salad is left over from lunch that they use for dinner, when I asked for pasta with no mince meat he uses the same pan he cooked the mince meat in not something you want when u don't eat meat as there was traces of mince in my food upon me raising this and asking for a new plate he simply done the same again. Pasta is pre cooked then simply warmed up for a few seconds in water I noticed on a few occasions staff not wearing gloves and not changing gloves where appropriate, not a great variety of food and in 10 days chicken was served once. Once carefully observing the kitchen staff closely lack of good hygiene becomes apparent, I must stress to the grand plaza this is something we did raise to management and all we was offered was al a carte which was equally as awful just waiters ' look more posh', they didn't address the matters promptly as they should.
There is no pool side service again something I was shocked at as I got that in a 3 star in Sharm previously.
Good things were animation were great and I highly re commend sokar Safari guy called marco he's by the beach in a hut which is on the resort his trips are amazing and good prices he is a really nice guy and I can't recommend him enough, if you do quad biking through him request miko as he was equally amazing!!
On our flight home my fiancé collapsed and was rushed to hospital he contracted serious case of gastroenteritis caused by food poisoning he is still currently in hospital extremely ill and was ill 3 days towards the end of the holiday again tis was raised to management when we complained about the food and the room and yet nothing was done not even ' is he ok ' ... We visited the local chemist but that wasn't much help. When raised to so called guest relations Zara our concerns she advised that the blocks of rooms on the right are delux and left are standard as our friends who booked standard got a suite when I asked se advised its luck of the draw who gets the suites when the managers assistant came over he got extremely defensive and said our original beds where ' small doubles' with a sea / pool view again not something we booked as you saw a very minimal amount of the sea when we raised the suites to him he said oh no your friends must of paid for that I told him Zara said its luck of the draw he again got defensive and basically said our friends were lying they must of paid for a suite when I assured him there not his response was ' it must of been an offer on that day ' I at this point couldn't believe the crap he was coming out with! I again raised the issue of the food and my partner being sick no attention was paid and we was simply offered more food not really what we want after getting ill.
We meet loads of different people that 10,days who all said same thing BAD FOOD.
Good thing the rooms were clean and marco was brilliant. I wouldn't be staying here again tho and defiantly wouldn't eat there again!!!!

Had a really good time at the grand plaza it was made more enjoyable by the fantastic animation team of kelly katie beso the dylans toni and everyone else in the team. I would also like to thank zara as she was very helpful and mohammed who worked the late night reception shift he also was very helpful.

Zara foster was amazing she made me feel so welcome and would recommend it to anybody. Had a really good experience and can't wait to come back soon!!!!!!!!the staff where so nice with smiles on there faces and I have been to a few places round the world but I have never felt as welcomed as I did and I couldn't of asked for a better person too of made myself and my family the best experience.

Fabulous 10 night holiday. Couldnt have asked for friendlier staff from the cleaner to managers, in particular Zara and the pool boy Mohammed. Would highly reccomend the spa treatments and excursions (VIP boat trip and the quads). Overall no complaints and would be glad to return to this hotel.

Had so much fun on holiday! Amazing weather, lovely hotel and the girls helping at the hotel were so helpful, friendly and bubbly! Zara had such a lovely smile every day, made the place seem like a home away from home!
Will definitely stay again!
