My boyfriend and I stayed at the Park Inn in Nabq Bay, Sharm el Sheikh from 7th - 21st September 2011, and had a great holiday. Although it could probably do with a little re-vamp, and a few minor improvements that are not even worth mentioning, it was a great hotel that was clean, good facilities with everything working, and had very helpful and friendly staff.

Basic overview, the food was typical all inclusive buffet with variety each night in a week, staff were lovely, facilities are good - there are 2 main pools, wave pool, lazy river, about 7 adult slides and lots of little ones for children, and 3 shallow pools in the water park, activities in one of the pools if you wish to participate, and evening entertainment in the Bedoin Tent. The room was always clean, good shower, massive comfy bed, air conditioning, and they have a free digital pin safe, when we had Mahmood cleaning we were always given great towel decorations, which we really appreciated and when he saw us he always asked if everything was ok and if we needed anything.

The location of the hotel was good, there are other hotels, beach, shops and a few bars nearby, and is about 15-20minute in a taxi to Naama Bay, which we took 2 trips to during our stay, we negotiated our price for a taxi using the hotels taxi service, we booked and paid for a return, and this was very reliable service.

We booked 3 trips through our rep at the hotel, Ciaro trip to the Pyramids by coach, Bedoin Night and Snorkeling trip to Tirran Island, all 3 trips were very good and well worth doing and cost us £130 per person for all 3.

We would like to say a special thank you to the following members of staff who helped make our trip extra special and are a credit to the hotel: Assem on Reception, Nanna in Entertainment team, Raffat waiter in the Buffet, Mahmoud Alksas in housekeeping and barmen: Mabrouk and Mahmood. We hope to return to the Park Inn again in the future and we thank you for helping to make our holiday a very enjoyable one.

My fiancee and I arrived back from the Park Inn today.

It was our second trip to Egypt and Sharm, and will most likely be our last for a long time.

Last year we stayed at the Tropicana Grand Azure, which wasn't the best either but blew the socks off the Park Inn.

I don't want to be to harsh on this hotel because its not fair on the employees who do seem to work very hard.

When we arrived at the hotel it was a very cold welcome. Normally, you get a nice warm welcome and a little drink, not here. We were immediately shown to our rooms by a miserable bloke who made it quite obvious that he couldn't be bothered. Once in our room he basically just stood there waiting for a tip (which we were going to give him anyway). He made it clear he wasn't happy with the tip by staring at it in his hand before stomping off and slamming the door. It soon became apparant by seeing him during the holiday that this was just his personality.

The room was horrible. Bathroom was filthy, the bath tub was heavily stained with yellow and brown marks. The water trickled out of the perimeter of the shower head... really frustrating. We went straight to reception who agreed to move us, this was done quickly and they upgraded us. It was an upgrade... but still probably the worst hotel room i've stayed in. But at least the shower was more powerful and the bath was less stained. The TV was something from the mid 90's with massive reception problems. The only watch-able channel was BBC World News... which was riveting.

There are plenty of sun loungers - that wasn't an issue - fairly comfortable ones. Towels are provided.

Now on to the pools.

There is one pool by the restaurant (if you can call it that?) which was the deepest at 180cm, this had a bar (again... if you can call it that). The animation pool... which had the swim up bar and the annoying animation team. Then there was the wave pool and lazy river.

The wave pool was okay, and the lazy river was okay. The lazy river has a very slight artificial current that pushes you around a small area... if you are lounging on a floatie. These are scattered in the river. They are all mouldy, and appear to be half chewed. They are all broken. You feel dirty lounging on them.

The pools are all tiled. The cement between the tiles is turning black... and this black is floating around in the water. Nice.

The slides are quite good. They only ever have a handful on at a time though. The views from the top are a delight. That's if you like looking at a tip.

We'll talk about the food next.

My fiancee and I went all inclusive because we are on a tight budget this year as we are wanting to buy a house. However, we were forced to eat out practically every night.

We were torn between the culinarly delights that are McDonalds, Hardrock Cafe, TGI Fridays and Burger King.

The food was that bad in the hotel that we practically walked through desert along a never ending road, being hassled every step of the way by forceful locals staring at my fiance telling me that i was a lucky man... in 30 degree heat just to go to McDonalds. And then make the same return journey.

Breakfast is vile basically. Terrible choice. It's just awful and nearly brought us both to tears at the sheer thought of it each morning. I often borked en route to the 'restaurant' at the thought.

Lunch, was okay. If you like rice and hard uncooked vegetables... peas that break teeth... raw potato wedges that can be used as weapons.... chicken that comprises of bone and skin then you will probably like it. We wern't fans.

Dinner, was awful. See above. Because it DOESN'T change.

All of this... every meal, 3 times a day... thats 21 times a week or in our case 42 times during a two week break... all served in the same 'restaurant' with NO variety.

Enough to make a grown man cry. It nearly broke me.

Drinks?

Blurghhh. All soft drinks were self service from dispensers. Which often gave you your no brand cola, lemonade or fizzy orange with no fizz and warm. In a small plastic throw away cup.

Sometimes they had proper glasses which were frosted. Well thats what I first thought, then realised they wern't, they were warm... just scratched and horrible. I witnessed one lady take her glass back to the barman asking for a replacement because it was dirty. He held it up to the light, picked the dirt off with his finger nail and gave it back to her... much to her horror. I thought it was funny.

They don't have a drinks menu or a cocktail list. I think they only know how to make one cocktail which is... you guessed it, horrible. Oh, and warm. Beer arn't horrible though... they're disgusting.

Do they give you bottled water for your room as other hotels do? As if.

They charge 16LE per 2 litre bottle, thats about £1.50. The supermarket next to the hotel (thank god for it) sell the same sealed bottles of mineral water for 5LE... about 50p. The fact that you didn't get free bottles of water and they actually charged double English prices infuriated me.

Just the general putting together of the hotel was poor.

It is a HIKE to the beach. It is on the opposite side of the road so you have to walk through this one, cross the road... get beeped by about several taxis screaming 'TAXI TAXI' at you, walk through the grounds, then entrance of the Radisson Blu and all the way to the beach, which quite frankly isn't worth it.

The bar allocated to Park Inn guests is the worst.

Staff - they are generally good. Nice genuine people who work very hard and are always polite. They can't be faulted and I feel mean dissing the hotel that they work in.

You feel soooo cheated when you walk through the Radisson... it's sooo much nicer. I did actually ask if we could be moved to that hotel instead, but it was an extra $50 per night.

I can't be bothered writing anymore, I didn't like this holiday.

The people who enjoyed it need their heads testing.

Oh yeah, and its full of RUDE Russians. Thats not a fault of the hotel, as the entire Sharm is infested with them.

Although it may be really hard to believe after reading my review... I am very chilled out and never normally have anything to complain about and im certainly not a serial complainer. Maybe that will show what I thought of this hotel and holiday.

Thanks for reading and if you have already booked it... oh dear. If you haven't... then lucky you.

Room Tip: Rooms in a different hotel are better.

just returned from park inn for the first time (been to 3 other hotels in sharm) and this by far was the best especially for the price. The rooms were big and cleaned perfect, the 2 main pools and the water park with wave pool and lazy rivers were great, the real big bonus was the staff who were all amazing and nothing was to much trouble,The animation team especially oscar and mohany were fantastic and organised all our nites out to the clubs and never let us down, and mohamad from the bar got us the best quad bikes and tiran excursions possible. As i said got back 24 hours ago and already booked for xmas and will be happy to see oscar, mohany & mohamad again as we felt like they became our friends not just reps.Anyone who moans about the hotel or staff are more than likely russian because they were rude and ignorant to everyone i.e other guests/staff etc but other than them everyone else we met egyptian, italian, polish, english were fun and friendly when either playing boules, volley ball, water polo or in the bar.hope this review helps people thinking of going to park inn as in our opinion u will not be let down,Again many thanks for a great holiday to all staff especially oscar, mahony & mohamad look forward to seeing you all at Xmas
