We have just come back from a weeks holiday at this hotel (06.02.14), I was quite apprehensive about our stay after reading some of the negative comments on the forum; but we needn't have worried, everything was fantastic! I will try and comment on this in order, rather than ranting aimlessly across the board. Lets get the minor negative out of the way first:-
Rooms - I can not comment on all the rooms as i have only seen the two rooms we stayed in (7405 & 7406), they were very large and comfortable (especially the beds), the bathroom had a bath with shower over (more of a trickle than a downpour, but manageable), toilet & bidet, hairdryer and moveable magnified shaving mirror. The rooms were very clean but a bit tired, although we were told that all the rooms are having a facelift bit by bit. The housekeeping is excellent and the towel art kept my granddaughter very amused, with daily bets as to which animal would appear on her bed when we came in on an evening! Our balcony faced over the pool and the restaurant, we got the sun in the morning and shade during the main part of the day; the entrance faced onto the Bedouin tent, and although there had been comments about this being noisy, we did not find it so. Most of the entertainment had finished by 11pm and it was very quite after this.
Food - There was only one main restaurant open whilst we were there with the chance to eat in the al-a-carte upstairs if we paid extra. The food was excellent with a good choice, even our 7yr old granddaughter found something to eat every meal and thoroughly enjoyed the cakes.....I think mummy did too!! All the staff in the restaurant were fantastic and could not do enough to help.
Animation - what a fantastic and hard working team, they kept us all entertained and in fits of laughter...the mosquito sketch will stay with us for years!!!! There was something for everyone and even when the children's entertainment had finished they were still made welcome and watched the shows with the adults.
Kids Club - Maha, who runs the kids club is fantastic, all the children love her and its easy to see why! She is a lovely lady with a beautiful smile and a gorgeous daughter; our granddaughter Isabelle, loved her and begged to go to the club every day (on the last day Maha gave Isabelle a present, which was lovely). I would recommend this club to any parent or grandparent in the knowledge that they will be safe and cared for.
Pools - what can i say except WOHOOOOOO......all the pools are exceptional and the slides are great fun, a few of the pools are heated, which is greatly appreciated by us oldies!! Our granddaughter was fearless and tried every slide out several times a day!!!!! The poolside staff were very vigilant and looked after the younger children, ensuring that the occasional inebriated 'Eastern Block' holidaymaker was kept in check!
Bars - there are several bars dotted around the complex, all are great with fantastic staff, the service is brilliant and quick. Many thanks to 'John Travolta - Ahmed' for serving me at the pool bar and keeping the Russians 'in check' when they tried to push me out of the way to be served!! Karaoke in the Panama bar is something else....i'm sure they don't have x-factor in Russia.....but if they did, Carlsberg didn't sponsor it, tone deaf does not cover it at all !!!!!!!
Coral Divers - for those of you who dive or are thinking about trying, go and see Ahmed at the Coral Divers hut by the heated pool, he will give you a really good rate (daily or package) and they are an excellent professional company. Our dive guide for the week was Max, he was great and nothing was too much bother. Due to adverse wind (the weather not mine!!) we could not dive off the hotels beach, so they arranged to take us to Sharks Bay so we could dive in safety. As this was further away and took up more of our time, they arranged for our daughter and granddaughter to come with us and use the facilities of the hotel we were diving from, so they were not left on their own for too long (a nice touch and one that was greatly appreciated). Thanks guys xxx
