“Horrible hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2012

We have just got back from this hotel we stayed for a week, it was the worth holiday I have been on the food was horrible and nasty and always cold. I lived on chips most of the week. I never went to breakfast as i heard so many bad parts about it. Would give this holiday a 3 star not a 5 which is what it is. You are only allowed 1 drink when u go to the bar. We went on 9th June till 16th June 2012

After reading the reviews for this hotel before coming on our honeymoon I wad extremely nervous about what to expect!! How very wrong I was we had a amazing week in beautiful grounds, lovely clean rooms, friendly staff that were not rude to me in anyway!! The food in the upstairs resturants was to die for and their special 'fruity cocktails' weren't bad either. I would definately return to this hotel with my children as there was daily entertainment for them and of course the slides

Stopped here for a week 21/5/12- 28/5/12.....on arrival we were shown to our room by a very polite man the room was perfectly fine.afer freshening up we then went to the restaurant - yes the food was very bland and samey but we had no issues with sickness or upset stomachs.

The pools were nice and we had no issues getting sunbeds every day - the pool towels we had were always clean.

Our room was cleaned by a very nice man on a daily basis and the sheets/room were always OK.

When you need a taxi i suggest using the Hotel taxi man- he was very helpful and gave us him mobile number to call him when we were ready to come back to the resort and the taxi's were very reasonably priced.

Nearly all staff were extremely friendly with a very young pool boy at the pool near reception being the only exception, he was very rude and annoying!!!

The only thing was that there were a lot of cats wondering around the resort... yes there are a lot of Russians but we never had any issues with them being rude, in fact some were quite friendly!!

I must admit we did get bitten a few times but this never happened in our rooms, it was always in the evening near the pools.

The only thing i would say is to keep an eye on your towels as ours were stolen - reception were not very helpful in this matter however the lovely man Omar at the pool soon got this sorted for us.

We had such a good time that we are going back on the 7th July :)

we were at the airport for 2 hours as a little man ran away with out transfer detail and nobody could help us :( this resort is about 10-15mins away from the airport.

omg!!! where to start, this hotel is full of Russian and polish.. the men were very rude and perverted, i felt very uncomfortable, Egyptian staff even told me to stay away from the men as they get too drunk and tend to get rough which was worrying, the women were rude, they were all very rude and loud... there were maybe two other british couples in this hotel, i also felt very uncomfortable as the only mixed race person along with my sister in this whole hotel i didn't feel welcome at all!!!!!! :(

the food was beyond disgusting, i wouldn't feed my dog what they serve, to the right of the rehana was a pub/bar called the union jack, was i glad to find that place! the food was fab and it seemed everybody had the same idea as it was packed with British every night. i was saved!

our room was kept very tidy, the house keeping was a lovely man and we gave him the biggest tip as he was one of the nicest people in that hotel, so humble and kind. we did get a few roaches in our room and when house keeping cleaned they did let in loads of mosquito's but we called reception and got spray, the key was to spray your room every night before you go out and spray yourself and you will not get bitten, many people at the pool side looked eaten alive!

some of the staff are nice but most of them were rude or inappropriate, saying things like miss.rehana would you marry me, come back and see me later, give me a kiss and i give you this for free and so on..... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

they also haven't finished building in the so in the day when you are sun bathing by the pool you can smell strong fumes and alot of dust in the air and also the workers/builders were peeping toms looking through peep holes of the building they were working on.

the grounds of the rehana were very pleasing to the eye ans the pools were nice and kept clean, but if you want a perv free hotel do not stay here!

would never go back... but jolie ville sharm where my friend stayed was lovely full of lovely people...

Just returned from a 10 night stay, really couldn't of gone quick enough!! First of all this hotel is advertised as 5*, it most definitely is not, more like 3 although most staff say it's a 4 apart from reception who try to convince you it's a 5*!! The resort itself is great with the pool area massive & always a sun lounger spare, the animation team during the day were friendly & did a good job of trying to get you involved. The food was terrible, mainly catering for the vast amount of Russians in the hotel but still completely inedible & repetitive, a trip outside the hotel for a decent meal is the way forward. The bar staff were mainly pretty good, if you tip & the housekeepers do their best with a grotty room. The Reception staff I found rude along with the restaurant staff who could do with a course in customer service. Overall a crappy hotel & I would never return.

In May this year we visited Rehana Sharm for the 2nd time. We like this hotel a lot. The personnel is very friendly and helpfull. Sherif the chef always have a happy face! Also the people from the animation team were very kind and nice to us. They offered a lot of nice entertainment, especially the show with people who walked on glass was awesome and the dances at the pool! The rooms are large and the cleaning is good. The food in the all inclusive restaurant is okay, it was a lot better than last year. (the quality of the food, and there was more choice now) But it's still a little bit simular every day. The Italian restaurant is very good! The only thing that they should change is the all inclusive formula at the day of departure. We had tot give our bracelets back at 12:00 hour but we were leaving at 20:00 hour.. The first day we arrived very late at 22:00 hour. So that was not very fair in our opinion… But we are looking forward tot visit Rehana Sharm again in November this year!

Young couple 27 & 29
10 night stay 26th May

TRANSFER – The transfer is a quick 20 minute journey to the resort, the driver would expect a tip (as main source of income) he was happy with £1 English

AIRPORT – If you are a smoker, on arrival waiting for the transfer, you can buy cheap ciggies or even on the plane with some airlines. I wouldn’t get any in the UK airport; wait until you get there if you don’t mind foreign versions of cigarettes.

RECEPTION – is large, spacious, and cool with the air con and welcoming, there is a little shop to buy water sport equipment, snacks and cigs. 2 computers with internet access (at charge) an ATM machine and taxi man to book taxis for you (It is recommended you use him as if you get in a taxi outside, they will charge you as much as double!)

WEATHER – is stunning! 34d at night, hot and sunny in the day, in all honesty too hot for me.
ROOMS – On arrival we entered a room with 2 single beds (after booking a double) after considering the fact it was 34 degrees at 9pm at night, we kept the room for convenience as was too hot to snuggle anyhow. It was clean, spacious, air con, standard bathroom. Towels are changed daily.

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT – Is absolutely rubbish! At 10pm from the Starfish bar you will hear (SHOWTIME) where you are expected to talk 2 minutes up to the seating area above a building (with no bar) and to watch the animation team dance around or watch belly dancing. At least you would think they would bring the entertainment to you where you can drink etc and carrying on, by this point you’re tired from the heat and decide it’s much easier to go back to your room!

PORTER – He will take your bags to your room, as mentioned before, they do expect a small tip, and again, I paid him £1. They prefer English money as the value is a lot higher over in Egypt with the exchange rate.

STARFISH BAR – Is a lovely shaped bar over the water with surrounding sunbathing spots, they serve late breakfast at 10am and drinks all day until 12pm.

POOLS – There’s POOLBAR 1 (near Reception), POOLBAR2 (near Restaurant) which is a lot quieter and the large pool with the slides in the middle where the activities take place (belly dancing, aqua aerobics, darts)

FOOD – Where do I start! Both myself and my fella love our food, we’re not fussy in the slightest and will not stick our noses up at anything put in front of us HOWEVER, we ended up surviving on cheese sandwiches for breakfast and burger and chips at lunch both from the starfish bar. In the main restaurant the breakfast consisted of tiny hardly cooked boiled sausages that fell apart once cut into, sloppy plum tasteless tomatoes, what looked to be fried courgette and onions and toast. The isle of puddings/ croissants and salad is available. The only thing that was edible was the different types of bread. As for the lunch it wasn’t any better, chips, what looked to be cannelloni, one slice of cheese and tomato on toast, tasteless pasta/ rice or meat in a tin (but we couldn’t determine what it was). Nothing is labelled (anywhere) there was food being served outside also from the BBQ, the only thing I took a second mouthful of was an omelette, and everything else didn’t tickle my taste buds at all!

RESTAURANTS – During each 7 day stay you are entitled to visit the restaurant twice, you choose from Italian, Seafood, Indian and Mexican. We ate at the Indian and Mexican, both 4 courses and were really really nice.

ULTRA-INCLUSIVE – for an additional £58 English pounds you could upgrade to the Ultra-inclusive, with this you can eat in the Restaurant each night if you wanted to (we chose to eat out instead)

NAAMA BAY – is a short trip in a taxi down the road, we didn’t go as we were warned about the pestering that goes on, a young couple that we met was pulled into a bag of a shop and lotion rubbed onto her due to sunburn, she was not happy (understandably)

BEACH – a short walk and free bus trip takes you down to the beach. It is private for the Rehana Sharm and Rehana Royal (sister hotel across the road) theres a bar there, a walkway out to the sea (which you can see lots of fish from) and snorkelling at the bottom.

SNORKELLING – I am not a strong swimmer and I hate the sea, but to go that far I had to go snorkelling and it was the BEST thing I have ever done! They gave me a life jacket and rubber ring that the guide swam with taking me with him, he was very helpful, we saw lots of colourful fish including NEMO (which was my aim) but unfortunately no dolphins (although they told us it was dolphin season) If you go, you have to go, speak to Adam (short guy with glasses) we paid £30 which is 300 Egyptian Pound each. WELL WORTH IT!

SPA – There is an on-site spa offering everything you can think of. We both had a facial and massage and it was pleasant, they will try and coller you on the first day so you’re not sun burnt.

PESTERED – Within 30 minutes of our first day around the pool, we were approached by 4 different salesmen trying to sell us trips, massages, facials etc.... If you don’t like it, just be honest and said you don’t want any trips or treatments and with a bit of persistence they will leave you alone, they only do it the first few days as will know the longer you are there your skin could be burnt for the massages and money will be running out for trips.

BUILDING WORKS – Just behind our block (4) they are building a new Restaurant along with 4 – 5 other buildings for rooms, they are nearly completed and didn’t cause any problems whatsoever, a bit of noise but nothing noticeable.

FLIGHT PATH – You will see lots of planes overhead but again, I don’t know why previously people on here have complained about it, it wasn’t an issue whatsoever.

SMOKING – You can smoke all the way throughout the resort (only on balcony’s in rooms)

DRINKS – Consisted of the standard, coke, sprite, orange juice, 6 alcoholic cocktails (that they have made up) and beer. If you like to drink (like me and my fella do) then don’t expect to get drunk every night! We got tipsy twice in ten days and thats only when we were out of the hotel. Obviously you can buy drinks not included within the all inclusive. Also you will need atleast 1 two litre bottle each day in your room and thats 50p English each.

UNION JACK BAR – Just down the road (10 minute walk) (2 min taxi) there is a English Bar, they do fab English cheap food, great cocktails and great breakfasts. The atmosphere is great, we went there a few times.

CAMELS – Just outside and down the road (outside Union Jack) there will be several camels, if you take a picture, he will want paying lol

BEACH TOWELS – You have a card which you swap for a towel daily, if you wanted to cover the whole of your sun-lounger, take one of your own too.

OVERVIEW – We had a wonderful time, more so because of each other’s company, we met a few lovely couples, we were not happy with the food and I was ill for 2 days (due to heat) but their doctor was fantastic and sorted everything out for me, the service at the bar, housekeeping, reception was great and I suppose the animation team were good for the kiddies but we wouldn’t go again to this resort and probably not even Egypt due to the longish flight and weather being unbearably hot.

Room Tip: Rooms in block 4 are quieter.
