“Family friendly fun in Sharm..”
Reviewed 14 August 2010

Myself and hubby travelled with 2 teenagers, and 2 kids aged 7 & 9. We found Rehana to be a really nice resort, nice and large with beautiful grounds and super pools. The rooms were spacious and the facilities were good. We all enjoyed our holiday.

THE GOOD POINTS:
The pools, the pool bars, the snacks (plentiful and loads of variety - ice creams, pizzas, hotdogs, kebabs). The food in the restaurant was nice and we always found something to eat. Some of the staff were absolutley fantastic. (mohammed in the Dolphin Bar)
85 % british clientele (depends on whether you look at that as good or bad).. but it meant we out-numbered the Russians.. and the kids found loads of mates to play with and we found loads of mates to drink with!

THE BAD POINTS
Sun lounger hogging from 6 am!! and the towel men reserving sunbeds for the tippers only.. however they stopped the towel men reservations due to complaints..
Warm drinks, running out of drinks (particularly draught beer).. after a few complaints the beer matter was rectified.
Not being able to book in for the "speciality" restaurants despite them being empty when you got there...

There were a few niggles/ minor issues... and the General Manager was on the premises throughout our stay ...watching and assessing all day and night walking around the bars and reception and restaurants. Apparently he was General Manager at the Hilton in London and is set make some changes at the Rehana...which he probably will do!...I suppose the prices will then rise in line with the new service..

It was a good value family resort, the snorkelling was brill (deep and rough seas off the jetty though for the kids). The shallows were coral so beach shoes are a must..The beach had tons of sun beds and the bus to take you to the beach was a God send..
Oh and the heat... was tremendous in august... shockingly hot! A bit too much really..especially on the trip to the desert.

Tummy problems - the adults got the runs while we were there. 3 kids got away with it. 1 child got the runs the day we returned home. Most adults we spoke to tended to get the runs ahnd get bitten by the mossies but hey...the pharmacy did some good business across the way... However, it was a fab holiday and we would return to Egypt..

Just returned from 2 weeks to Rehana Sharm in Egypt. Had read hundreds of reviews from various sites and to be honest was dreading what we might find! Arrived evening and taken straight to room which was very clean and spacious. Went to dinner and dining rooms were not manic and crowded like many sites had said. Food was displayed nicely and was fine. Mainly stayed in the resort first week - most staff were great. Didn't do the tipping that others had advised as to be honest no point. Who wants to sit on their bums ALL day while someone else brings drinks etc. Drinks are quite often warm but to be honest the turnover of drink is so fast - don't get a chance to get chilled. Have water dispensers (which apparantly is mineral water) We drank much of it and apart from being warm was fine) Did get the Sharm El Sheikh sh.......s but our rep. advised that was more likely to be heat, air con. and general change of food rather than the hygiene. I believed him! Kids played mostly in pools which seemed fine - cleaned with chemicals at night. Not a great variety in the food but was still fine. Mexican and Italian are ok not much to shout about - just provide a change. Will get hassled a lot by beauty salon staff, and other reps selling day trips. Speak to your rep first who will advise you. Went on a boat trip to Tiran Island snorkelling and was great, quad biking great be prepared for EXTREMELY hot weather in desert though. Naama Bay ok bit like Blackpool with VERY pushy shop staff. charm you then if don't buy get very narky! Be firm! but polite. Soho Square at night worth a look - just something different. Entertainment each night was ok - kids absolutely loved it but for adults bit cheesy. Outside arena so be prepared to sweat all evening. Would have been nice to have been in air con. for entertainment. Entertainment during day ok for kids - aqua aerobics, games, yoga, kids footie, water polo, volley ball. The entertainers work very hard. You have to get up REALLY early to get good sunbed. We didn't, but worth getting friendly with pool staff to get them to secure good sunbed with shade. We did this once and came down about 11am to find they had given our beds to someone else after taking our tip the previous day! Put something personal (like book/magazine) on your bed along with the hotel pool towels as we had a bed pinched by a man even though there was clearly a towel on it. Always managed to get beds in shade just have to look and keep hassling pool men to find you one. Be polite and nice and they normally oblige. Are mixture of people - Didn't see/hear anything bad/rude from the Russians like many reviews said but it's personal experience I suppose. Like life in general is a real mixture of gobby and lovely people. Don't expect 5 star more like 3 but still very much acceptable for everything. We didnt' have problem with mosquitos - take your spray and plug in and will be fine. Beach is fine also - not dirty at all snorkelling great. Subway to the beach with little shuttle to take you. All in all, for the money you pay for an all inclusive holiday in the sunshine it was great value. We had absolutely no hassle problems apart from your normal holiday tummy, ear infection. Be a bit wary of what the doctors advise as we think they know as we are insured they wop unnecessary expense on your bill (knowing that you can claim it back). Advised one man to have a drip for diarrhea! Thoroughly enjoyed holiday and would recommend it to others.

The hotel grounds and swimming pools are beautiful. Rooms were clean, if a little old
fashioned. Staff were polite and hard working.Take care when drinking water from coolers
in corridors as they appeared to be very old and not serviced regularly ,the water containers
are battered and grubby. Beer and soft drinks were frequently warm, food in the main
restaurant repetitive. By the end of the holiday we were all tired of being hassled at the
shops , fed up of supermarkets where nothing is priced! If you take a taxi , get one from
just outside the hotel grounds and barter over the fare! Pay no more than 20 Egyptian
pounds for a trip to McDonalds!

Myself and my friend have just arrived back from the Rehana resort and have only great things to say! The staff are so kind and helpful and the hotel itself was fab!

There was so much to do, with the large variety of pools and the beautiful beach to choose from!

Before going off on holiday I looked on here and was quite worried as the hotel has very mixed reviews, however my stay couldn't have been better!

We will definitely be going back next year!

First, this is not all it seems, the pictures used on the web site is a mixture of this hotel and what looks like the better one across the road the sister hotel. Also book the best room you can, my wife and I booked an executive room and this was fine, spacious, a big king bed and a nice bathroom. We heard various horror stories of families being put in a small room with single beds although they had booked a superior room (whatever that is) but could upgrade at an extra cost?
Second, check what all inclusive means before you go, no consistancey on what you are allowed, we were green bands others were blue, only difference green can drink for 24 hours blue stops at 12 midnight? green is (ultra all inclusive) not so but you can upgrade at a cost, get the picture. resturants good, italian, mexican and indian once we worked out what we could use (one of the guests told us) main eating place was ok but a bit the same, normally have to run about looking for coffee tea milk etc unless you tip someone, get the picture.
Third, warm drinks? there local beer (stella, not the good one but ok) is in bottles nothing on draft? because of the quick turnaround its not given enough time to cool, so pop, water etc is warm.
The beach on the other side of the road was ace and snorkling is breath taking (sorry) this was more quiet and lots of available sun beds, you had to be up very early to get a sun bed at our hotel unless you tip someone to do it, get the picture. My wife and I went for a chilled 7 days which it kinda was but lots of kids by the pool, more for families and entertainment was poor for the kids and adults alike.
Ok, would go back to Sharm but not to this hotel, oh make sure you have sorted your transfers out before you go, we book through Sunmaster and our transfers from the airport to the hotel were sorted (they weren't) so we ended up paying about £25 for a five minute journey.

What an amazing place..We had the most amazing 2 weeks here..There were 10 of us and we all had a fab time. Food was lovely...rooms were lovely and clean...Pools were amazing...cant fault the hotel..except the entertainment..but did not bother us to much as we amused ourselves..The kids made friends and most nights went off and played manhunt!!..while us adults sat at the starfish bar and relaxed..The staff and the most friendly and helpful people..they put us brits to shame!!..
If i had to be dissappointed it was with the snorkelling..we have been to taba heights where the snorkelling was out of this world, in nabq bay its not as good..but if you a newbie to it you will be amazed yourself..
Any questions i will be happy to answer, and have hundreds of pics you can see if you mail me at debbie.73@hotmail.co.uk..

If you about to go have an amazing time..

well what can i say about our holiday , i had read several bad reviews and was alittle worried but once i arrived i was more than happy our room was clean and tidy and cleaned daily the restaurants had more than enough selections . i am sure if i really wanted to be fussy i could find something to moan/complain about but why would you you have to be realistic in the money your paying if you want 5* all singing resorts spend that kind of money and you might get it ( if your lucky ) but my family found the rehana a great place to be , we met some great people and between us we had a fantastic time mainly in the pool area sitting in the warm water drinking free drinks and genarlly watching the pass us by laughing at people complaining about anything they could i.e the weather was to warm ,they waited for about 2mins to get a drink ,they didn,t like the food even though they was all ways stuffing there faces with something ,and the biggest gripe for me was people moaning the staff weren,t always smileing and happy , they need to work 14hrs a day in heat upto 50 degrees with ungratefull people moaning about stupid things . if you are going here go with an open mind relax and enjoy we did and would not hesitate in going back p.s if torre and rick read this thanks for a great break hope to be in touch soon .
