This hotel is not very commercial. It is small. It is not luxurious but it was the best vacation ever! We had an over water bungalow and the location overlooked the bay and the mountains and the ocean. It was so awesome i would move there. And, no matter how much money i had...i would stay here again! There were some water activities, tour desk, small restaurant and all the rooms had mini kitchens, pool and spa as well as tiny little sandy beach. The island itself is so small we got bikes and road around it!

2 couples stayed in a 2 bedroom OWB after a cruise. There is,nothing NOT to like about this place. Friday night was a great folklore show, don't miss it. The views are awesome, the staff TOP notch plus, food great and reasonably priced and easy accessibility to markets and nearby restaurants. The kitchen is completely furnished, so we stocked up on beverages, baguettes, snacks, cheese, etc , had coffee in room when we wanted. Luckily when there, we had top viewing for the start and finish of all day canoe races. In addition, during our stay, there was an arts n crafts fair, food and great music all day. An added bonus! The AC worked great in the rooms. If you want a peaceful escape from TV, phones and noise, this is your place.
We had planned a surprise renewal of vows for the couple traveling with us. Hella, Olga and other staff members helped us plan, set up, bought the wine, made the leis, and head crown with flowers from their own gardens and made a table centerpiece, and some was done on their day off! They all managed to keep it a secret too!
This is not on the lagoon so we did not go snorkeling here. We had done quite a bit on cruise so were happy as clams to sit on the balcony and take in the gorgeous views. So may stars come out at night, tis beautiful. I saw 2 shooting stars, so am hoping that I get to go back soon and visit my new friends! Leslie, Mike, Linda and Mike

Room Tip: Get a OWB away from the road, some were very close.

The view on Cooks Bay was exceptional, but the hotel/timeshare exchange was extremely disappointing. Our exchange from Mexico puts this property at a 1 or 2 (poor) on a scale of 1 to 5. We stayed here after a cruise. The kitchenette garden view room was relatively clean but rooms have old bedding and old mattresses. The staff was very nice and accommodating to us. BUT This property is badly in need of updating. There is a $400 electricity charge for the room. We did see an overwater bungalow and it was not much better altho they waive the electricity fee if you rent one for $189 per night extra. The pool was old and clean but very small and needs tile repairs and a handrail by the steps.

Very few hotel guests at this place and the attached restaurant (Blue Pineapple) was very pricey. Weekends bring locals with kids from Tahiti to use the facilities. Basically it was sub-par.... much less than we expected.

I was in Tahiti (Moorea) 30 years ago and it has not improved much. The French government has withdrawn most of its financial support for the islands so things are run down - lots of dumpy houses, overgrown shrubs, potholes in the road. Considering the long flight and extremely HIGH costs for everything, we would not recommend this place unless you want a 1960's old property with zero amenities. If they want to attract more guests they need to upgrade the place which they should be able to do considering their high annual maintenance fee for owners. I just think the original owners just don't care about the property any more.

Room Tip: I don't think there are any "good" rooms.

Thanks very much for your comments. We have completed a complete renovation of our overwater bungalows and are now renovating the family beachfront bungalows as well
We will continue with the specials throughout the year.
The restaurant on the bay has the most competitive price schedules on moorea.
The drop in the usdollar can distort comparisons for the traveler.

I am sorry that you visited during the recent tropical storm. The best times of year
Are April. May. And June as the humidity drops to,it's lowest in November.
A very best 2014. To you from all the staff at ClubBali hai moorea

I was pleasantly surprised with club Bali Hai! With its 3 1/2 rating I didn't expect much but I have had some a great time here. The people that run the front desk are lovely and we have met some great new friends. I would come back again. I wish that we had our RCI week here! Thank you

Our first time in Moorea and we stayed in an over water bungalow. It's spectacular! Sharks (safe sharks...didn't know there were such a thing) swimming off our deck. Beautiful view of the bay. Staff are so nice and helpful. It's not a high end hotel but all the needs are there for a great getaway. Clean, nice loved it!
