“Best in town - Monastery architecture”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

A hotel built in style of an old monastery. Situated in the small quiet town of Berovo in the south eastern Macedonia. We came for the nature of the soft hills to start our round trip visiting the natural beauties of Macedonia. We booked the hotel in February 2014 for our trip in Juky - yet the offered us a room less good than we could have expected. Upon noting that we got a room better placed, but not the best in our category. The hotel was tang in a large party for one night (arriving at 20:30 and leaving at 8:00) the next day and they were almost completely booked - for one night. Even that we had booked for three nights well in advance they got served better! We did not really get that idea! Saying that we got served really well at the hotel. The room was bit cramped due to the large sofa and the double bed. We got a balcony in front of the next rooms window - glad we did not get that one. The breakfast and dinner served was good but served a bit to the different waiters abilities. A bit of teaching would be fine. The main part of the staff were good at English and the service was fine. The walking paths (that we came for) around the hotel was marked either very well or not at all. Finding the start of them was impossible unless pointed out by locals - The track that we did go was pretty nice and really a good warm up for the holidays.

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a room facing the valley side. The rooms vary a lot.

Last weekend I was there with a friend of mine and was very surprised!
I could not imagine Macedonia would have a hotel that is so nice.
The service, food and price is just great and there are lots of things to do like sauna, fitness, tennis and more.
The hotel organised a trip way up in the mountains with a great and good English speaking guide, Toni, we had a great (never forget) time eating unique made cheese at 1000 meters up, drinking plum brandy home made.
The owner, Slobodan made this hotel for the love of the place, each room looks different and is build with natural materials from the region
All rooms have a mini bar, LED TV with many channels, Airco.
Also the hotel had a outdoor swimming pool.
I will be back soon!

The best place in the town and around the east part of Macedonia. The food is tasty , the host are lovely and frendly and the price is reasonable . You have to tray ,,babina torta,, for desert , malesevska tava and zelnik , dont forget to drink home made alcohol ,,rakija,, wich is made from the local and organic plums :) enjoy

While this hotel looks pretty great from outside, the room we rented felt like an old dorm room. The hotel is walking distance to "downtown" Berevo, but still a car's drive from the lake and walking trails (the real reason anyone would want to stay there). Also, the restaurant served very mediochre food; the "local specialities" were really nothing special. One important warning for parents of small children: the entire hotel is full of steep stairs, sharp ledges and hazards such as open pools!!

I've not stayed at the Manastir as we have a house nearby. However I have viewed the rooms for our guests and they are pleasant clean and well appointed in what I would consider the usual traditional Macedonian style. There always seems to be a lot of deep dark colours, shiny fabric and velvet which is not my personal taste but is fine. The restaurant in particular is very good and so far in 10 years of visits I've not been disappointed. The local specialities are excellent. The only let down for us is that we visit regularly in summer and we'd like to spend the day at the hotel, eating, drinking and ideally using the pool but this is not possible for non residents even for a fee when it is not being used. I've offered to pay but they don't want my money so I don't venture over that often. Nonetheless I think I'll be back next week for an evening restaurant visit, if not later this week for lunch and ice creams.

This place is utterly amazing. Think of the movie Heidi, or Sound of Music. It's up in an alpine setting in a small village, where the kids are so friendly that they dragged me inside to meet their parents. You can hike to a lake, or through pastures and little vegetable gardens, past pristine streams. The hotel has the most magnificent breakfast included, all for 28 euros a night. There were almost no other guests (I was there in early June). The room was gorgeous and exceptionally clean. The staff helped me with bus schedules and finding hiking trails. I had planned to stay only one night, and spent three, feeling great sadness to leave. It's right next door to a monastery that's still in use. Meals were fresh and really cheap -- $6 for dinner including wine. What's not to love??? Okay, the massage was only so-so. But for 10 euros, how can you really complain?
