Perfect in every single way! Puerta Azul alone may bring us back to Roatan. We planned our stay there less than a week before arriving. Talia was super helpful and quick to respond to all my questions.

Upon arrival, Augusta gave us the lay of the land and tons of useful information about the island as well as recommendations based on our interests. We mentioned wanting to go to Pigeon Cay, but we were having a hard time finding an affordable boat trip out there. Without asking, she took it upon herself to find us a boat in our price range. By breakfast the next morning, she had found us an option. She then worked out all the details for us and all we had to do was show up.

Speaking of food... Harris kept us very well fed! Breakfast was superb every morning and we had dinner there 3 times that was very reasonably priced and some of the best food we had on the island. The whole fried fish was off the charts delicious.

Our room was clean upon arrival and was cleaned every morning while we ate breakfast thanks to Araceli.

The gardener, Pasqual, and his helper (not sure of his name) were super kind to us and helped us pick out some good coconuts on the property. They took time out of their duties to fill a pitcher with fresh coconut water for us.

Puerta Azul is an amazingly relaxing and peaceful place with fabulous people running the show that quickly start to feel like old friends.

The palapa over the water is wonderful and an amazing place to watch the sun set. The snorkeling right off the palapa at the reef was stellar. We rented a car (arranged by the hotel and super easy) and explored the island most days, but we were always eager to get back to the hotel in the evenings to watch the sunset, visit with other guests and the innkeepers, and bask in the peacefulness that is Puerta Azul. It’s a truly special place.

The Puerta Azul is an enclave of modern cabins on the Caribbean. The landscaping is gorgeous and surrounds each cabin, creating a natural calm. The rooms are adequately appointed, (with enormous showers), breakfasts are great, and the staff is super helpful.

Puerta Azul is a beautiful little quaint hotel. It is clean, cozy, and have a welcoming vibe. Every guest I met there is happy and friendly. Spent hours at night on their walkway to heaven (through the blue door.)

Having said all of that, the best thing at Puerta Azul is the wonderful staff. Augusta is like if a swiss army knife was a hotel manager. She answers all your questions and solves all your problems with great efficiency and a big smile.

The moment I pulled up to Puerta Azul I knew I was about to fall in love! The property is absolutely breathtaking. The owner, Talia, showed me to my casita and my mouth hit the floor. I couldn't believe how nice it was! Its your own private beach front house! It was spotless and incredibly decorated, the bed was super comfortable, and the ceilings were sky high. I had a hammock on my porch and an outdoor shower too!

The ocean view from their private beach is indescribable. I spent hours and hours snorkeling and kayaking from the end of the dock (they provide the gear and the kayaks too!) The water is crystal clear, calm, and bathwater warm.

Every morning Talia would make and serve an amazing breakfast on her massive porch surrounded by mango trees and coconut palms overlooking the ocean... the tranquil vibe is the best way to start any day. She also serves dinner by request!

Talia was overly accommodating and knows everyone and everything on the island. She introduced me to my new favorite dive shop, set me up with a dolphin encounter, ziplining, a mangrove tour, a visit to little french cay, a boat trip to pigeon cay, a beachfront massage on anthonys cay, a bonfire, a tour of the island, on the water yoga, restaurant recommendations, kareoke night, a lionfish hunt, and anything else I needed. Shes an incredible host and I am still not sure how she pulls it all off!

I was so in love with Puerta Azul that I booked my next trip back before I ever left. While i was on Roatan, I saw other places/hotels/beds and breakfasts and I couldnt find anything remotely close to Puerta Azul. It was the most rejuvenating and beautiful trip of my entire life. It was so inspiring and incredible that I am now considering moving to Roatan! But until then, the only place I will ever stay is Puerta Azul!!

THANK YOU PUERTA AZUL AND TALIA FOR SUCH A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE!!

Puerta Azul is a beautifully maintained bed and breakfast, located right on the beach in Sandy Bay, Roatan. Lush grounds, private pier and little bungalows on the beach side for guests make it a wonderful get-a-way for couples, families and small groups. We stayed in the 2 bedroom casita at the front of the property (not on the beach - but surrounded by mangoes and coconuts) which allowed our family of 4 (teens) to spread out and gave us 2 bathrooms! The hammock on the front porch quickly became the favorite spot. There are lots of little critters roaming around including lizards, geckos, agoutis (if you're quick to spot them) birds and chickens. My kids and I love nature!! We enjoyed our breakfasts on the terrace of the main house which overlooked the coconut trees and beach and even had a couple of delicious dinners there as well. You do have to take a cab to West End and West Bay but it's a short ride and Puerta Azul is great to come back to after a noisy, crowded afternoon in West End. My kids really enjoyed just hanging out on the pier, swimming off the pier and kayaking out to the reef (2 kayaks on site)! It's a great area to snorkel in as well. (It's on the snorkel tour)
Beautiful and tranquil Roatan... reminded me of the first time I went to the island many years ago!

I would definitely stay here again- it's like having your own private beach home in Roatan!
