“Really sweet cabana”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

We stayed at Chillies for 4 nights in February. it rained (actually poured) almost the whole time we were there, but we still loved the place. We had a private garden cabin. It was small, but cozy. During the rain, we totally enjoyed having a porch in a jungle setting where we could just relax and watch it come down. The beach was just across the street. We rented a kayak from our beach and explored the Bay. We walked a short distance and snorkeled the Marine Park. Lots or restaurants, including a great baleada stand right at Chillies. The available kitchen was convenient as well. It was a wonderful 4 days!!

Room Tip: Our garden cabin with bath was a perfect choice for us. Inexpensive, but private. Just a pretty, sho...

Granted the private cabin did not offer air conditioning, but the ceiling fan was big and worked well to stay comfortable. Slept like a baby. Beds were comfortable. Was definitely happy with the small cabin. It was my husband and I. It would have been perfect except the bathroom door was a curtain. Not bad if you had to take a shower, but if you had to go to the bathroom......like not pee but doing your duty (if you know what I mean). I would suggest they put a real door.
Felt very safe there. Was in the middle of town. Great location to be in the middle of things when you want to be. Staff was friendly!
We thought we would be happier staying at another hotel with air conditioning Las Rocas. What a mistake!!!! Will write a separate review :(. We should have stayed here. Would go back.

I stayed there 3 nights on a private cabin in the backyard, with bed & bathroom for 34$/night. This is a deal considering the very nice situation of the Chillies (right in front of the beach and in the city 'center'). The place was very clean, and very quiet at night (excepting birds in the morning, but this add to the charm). Shared kitchen if you don't want to pay big price for restaurant in town.

Recommended, suggest to reserve in advance!

Stayed a week at Chillies over New Year's in a 2-bedroom cabin, these are located at the back of the property so there is less foot traffic and it feels more private. It was also nice to have a kitchen right there (the other private cabins share a detached kitchen).

It was a bit more rustic than I had expected: I guess I was hoping for towels and hand soap in the room rather than having to get them from the front office, but overall not that big of a deal. I was disappointed however, that other reviewers said their cabins were cleaned everyday, mine was not. It was only cleaned when I asked. Considering there is food waste in the kitchen trash bin, and dirty toilet tissue in the bathroom trash bin, it would have been nice to have them emptied everyday. Also, just a heads up, bring a non-underwater flashlight! For those of you who have visited Roatan before, you know that random power outages are quite common. Most hotels will turn on their generators when the power is out, but not here, so it is good to have a light handy for navigating the dark path back to the cabin and to read in your room at night.

All-in-all Chillies was fine for what I needed (was diving all day, every day), and I'm not sure you can beat the price for the location: directly across from Sundowners and almost in the middle of West End. Also on the plus-side, the owners (Mish and Alvin) are very nice and are actively involved with the Marine Park and local schools.

Sorry about your cabin not being cleaned. I did ask my ladies about it and they both said they empty the garbage every day from the bathrooms and kitchens of that cabin. However there was a little misunderstanding New Year's Day. I asked the cleaning lady to just come in and empty garbage and clean bathrooms but she thought it was just in the main house. The idea is to keep things simple and costs down but I quite understand that garbage needs emptying every day in the tropics.

Thanks for taking the time to write about us.

I just spent 10 days at Hotel Chillies and it was great. Amazing price and amazing people. The staff are really great, especially Mish and Alvin who do an amazing job in the community as well. Hotel Chillies is linked to the Native Sons dive shop as well and has a little Baleada shop as well. Very convenient for a quick, cheap and delicious breakfast...but back to the hotel.

I stayed in a two bedroom cabin at the back of the property. I had one room with my boyfriend and our other friend stayed in the second room. There was a shared bathroom and kitchen. It gets cleaned every day. Sheets are changed every few days. Hot water was intermittent but not a big deal as is hot enough outside you don't really need it. Kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots, pans, cutlery and towels. Everything you need to eat in. Has a sweet little porch and hammock as well.

This is a no frills type of place. If you're looking for excellent value in a great, convenient location but don't mind sacrificing some of the "finer" things like towels and A/C then this is the place for you. This cabin would be great for a family as well.

Spent a total of four days at chillies and it meet all my expectations. Didn't have any bad experiences to declare. The host were all welcoming. She initially didn't have vacancies for the days we were going to be there after the many prompt replies via email but suggested alternative days that meet our needs and group of five.Although I didn't get to see the lady I spoke to during check in and while I was here I was privileged to meet her husband on different occasions who always had a warm greeting towards us. Beware that this isn't your classical Hilton or Hyatt, it's meant to be simple and comfortable as much as possible. We spent the nights in the farthest cabana in the lot they had with two different rooms and beds in each room since we were Party of five, with kitchen and one bathroom at our disposal. They had clean refillable water at the front and cleaning was on demand if you wanted per the notice on the wall in the room. Although, we didn't feel we needed this option. The place definitely felt safe as we were usually greeted by a gentleman who usually kept watch during nights at the front of the hotel on our return. Also, it's location on west end adds as an advantage. One can easily walk to bars, entertainment along the shore and catch a boat on one of the docks to west bay beach. Also, during our time here the place was quiet and everyone was respectful. Overall, a memorable experience. looking forward to going back.

Chillies staff was friendly, the cabanas were clean, and having a kitchen to use was a really nice plus. The place had a laid back feeling while still remaining professional. The beach is right in front of the hotel and so is the Native Sons dive shop and boat, so you literally walk out your front door and you're ready to dive. For the price, you can't ask for anything more.

Room Tip: Definitely splurge for a cabana w/ hot water. After a day of diving, paying $8 extra a night for ho...
