We originally booked into Cocolobo as it was close to our recommended PADI Dive center “Coconut Tree Divers”. We planned to stay there 4 nights while we completed our PADI certifications. The west village was our preferred location as we wanted a variety of restaurants and shops rather than an all inclusive or resort vacation. During and after our course we explored the other options in Roatan as we were there for 10 days. We literally couldn’t find a place we like better. West Bay has amazing beach and snorkeling but the atmosphere is very resort with staff that seem like they really want to be somewhere else. Cocolobo is conveniently a 10 min walk from the west village with many restaurant options; it’s a quite comfortable eco resort with friendly and helpful hosts Bonnie and Ron.

At first, I said, Ben's review is much better... and then I said:
We only booked 4 nights of stay, as we figured the location was great: very close to Coconut Tree Divers shop we were getting our open water diver certification and all the restaurants at the west end village. Our plan was to move to west end bay once we were done. When we arrived, Ron, the mngr of Cocolobo, personally picked us up. At the property, we were greeted by his charming wife, Bonnie, and welcomed into our comfortable and spacious room with the ocean view. Over our stay, Ron and Bonnie were incredibly kind hosts: Bonnie and Ron are this incredibly happily married couple that just spread this amazing vibe of happiness and easiness of just being, which is exactly what you need when vacationing. They made multiple great suggestions on how to spend time on Roatan (this island has really much more to offer then just diving, so listed to R and B). And I can assure you, you will have a drink or two, and a very thoughtful conversation with both of them while you are staying at Cocolobo (Ron, loves red wine). Out relocation to west bay, after we were done with our certification, has never happened. This turned out to be a very undesirable location from our point of view: lots of cruise ship tourists and local people trying to sell you whatever there is to sell on Roatan, plus huge "all you can eat resorts". And since we had such a great time at Cocolobo, we were not even looking for something else at west end village. We just booked another 5 days there. Unfortunately, Bonnie was gone by then (she went to see her grand kinds in Canada), but Ron was the best host we ever had.
Now, about property itself. The beach is rocky, you won't be able to go for a swim there, and however, Half Moon Bay is just steps away. Yet there is an incredible beauty in this rough nature of the place. You will enjoy sunrises and sunsets (bring your camera), very well kept pool, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola breakfast (they also offer hardy meals that incl egg, bacon and stuff), and of course Bonnie's and Ron's hospitality. Btw, Ron sings and he also plays guitar, so make sure to ask if he is performing while you are staying at the beautiful Cocolobo.
P.S. ask them about massage service.
