Definately one of the best restaurants in Panjim. The restaurant takes u back in time, giving u a old feeling of the Portuguese times in Goa. It shows us the Culture/heritage of the Goan - Portuguese. The Goan - Portuguese dishes are well prepared (just how we Goans Prepared em at home). I also like their steaks. Must visit..

“A quaint place with old world charm.”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

You are very unlikely to spot this place unless you were going into each alley in Panaji although its tucked in a narrow street just behind the GPO right at the heart of Panaji. It has a charm of its own. A bit unkempt, a bit wild but generally neat. The graffiti room is a bit tacky. The food is nothing to die for but decent. However the service is very personal and pleasant. The chairs on the balcony is a good place to laze and watch Goan life.

“Great Old Charm & Good Food but lacks vibrance”
Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

Once you enter the restaurant you get mesmerized looking at the 60 year old, pre Goan independence place and its authentic Portuguese decor with old charm...

Quite a nice place to feel the Portuguese culture right in the heart of Panjim city..

But the enthusiasm doesn't go further .. Menu could have been more elaborate.. Even quality of food needs more focus as the traditional authenticity was lacking ... One more thumbs down was the linen and tapestry... They are too old and was looking dirty....

This place has a great possibility to give Goan tourism a proper old charm if they work on smaller details properly....

All the Best...

“Lovely place and good food!”
Reviewed 30 April 2014 via mobile

We've been coming to this restaurant every year since 2005 and shall continue as long as we can visit Goa.
We love the quirky individuality of the place, the balconies, the graffiti room, the staff (who somehow manage to recognise us even though our visits are 12 months apart) and the food ain't too bad either!
Let's be honest.. You won't get the best food in India at the Venite but it's good, plentiful and not too expensive.
The shrimp salsa starter is great, the prawn balchao excellent and best of all... They serve King's beer. What a joy after the horrors of Kingfisher fizzy dishwater!
From my point of view, the Venite is the 'must try' food venue in Panaji. It's about more than what appears on the plate, it's the whole experience.
