“In need of restoration”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

The Church of St Francis of Assisi is next to the Archaeological museum in the same complex as the Se Cathedral.
It was built in 1661 and has a pretty three tier facade with two octagonal cross section towers. Between the towers in a small niche is a statue of St Michael.
The white colour of the church now has a lot of wear marks and blackening because of water which gives it an old in it's own way charming look but is in need of care and restoration. A little restoration work has started inside but you can still go inside.

“Beautiful Church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

It is across the road from Basilica of Bom Jesus.
It was built in the year 1660 by the Portuguese as a chapel but was later given the status of a church. The church boasts of impressive architecture, and has some remarkable sculptures and paintings within its complex. The exterior of the Church is of the Tuscan Order. There are no aisles but only a nave, which is rib-vaulted. Its interior, especially the main altar is richly Baroque with Corinthian features.

Next to church is museum that was set up by the Archaeological Survey of India in 1964. The museum contains artifacts, paintings, and sculptures that testify to Goa’s rich and vibrant history.

“The Artworks are Stunning!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

This is a late review. The Church of St. Francis of Assissi is located in Old Goa near the Archaelogical Museum and before the Se Cathedral. It is has a beautiful facade and a lovely interior. The intricate woodworks and stone sculptures are interesting especially knowing these are centuries old and still in good condition. The frescoes in floral design are impressive.
