If you want a secluded beach in Goa, this is it. We went to it with a group of friends near Babu Huts and had a wonderful time. The ocean was warm and the undertow was not bad. Spending sunset in the ocean without a care in the world is pretty awesome.

A soft sandy beach with a good selection of shacks with mostly good quality food, in particular Golden Eye. It's a nice walk along the seashore to either Morjim or Mandrem in the opposite direction. One word of warning though - because the sand is so fine, if it is windy it gets EVERYWHERE! I lost my sandals which became buried under the sunbed - took ages to find them!

Our first visit to Ashwem was in 2010, Absolutely love it, Our favourite shack being Golden Eye, Friendly staff,, great food, love chicken salad its to die for. Our towels were put onto the sunbeds, which is where we went once we had eaten, great place for a day out and hawkers generally stay away they usually just walk a few yards down from the sunbeds, the ones that do get a little too close get watched carefully by staff at The Golden Eye, just sometimes they need little persuasion to move on. The ice cream seller goes past regularly on his bike, ringing his bell as he passes, quite amusing at times - you can hear him getting nearer from afar but the bells seem to be rung quite a bit harder when he stops by just to let you know he is there. : ) On the whole, fantastic beach, Golden Eye is one of many shacks on Ashwem,
At this shack they have their own troop of friendly dogs, all very chilled out and conveniently all called Cobra :) Typically Goan I guess to lazy to say half a dozen names, say one name all dogs come a running.
The owner remembered us from the year before, but then that sums up Goans in general, seem to have amazing memories.
Will definately be going back to Ashwem beach on our next visit to Goa.

The beach was clean, beautiful, and so relaxing. The staff at the "shacks" where you paid for food/drink in exchange for a little beach chair/shade were super friendly, and not rude at all (we had gone down to Culva beach where the people there weren't as nice). There weren't that many people selling crap, which was nice. The restaurant La Plage was delightful, and right at Ashwem. From Ashwem, you could walk down to Morjim, which was also nice - although the food choices weren't that great.
The beach wasn't crowded, had mostly tourists, and really didn't have creepy people trying to hit on foreign women tourists.

Its the best beach for you if you're looking for a cozy, secluded, blissful experience ..... white sands, sun-beds, shacks with good food options.........and best of all..... no maddening crowd !
the beach also has some very popular resorts and restaurants ( marbella, la plage) for those looking for a culinery indulgence.
When we went to the beach, it seemed as if time has just stood still......... sitting in the comfortable chair in a cozt shack sipping on beer and looking at the white sand and the big blue sea.....:-)
