Must visit this Bascilica of Bom Jesus. Guides are available for Rs. 100/- who take you thru the Basilica and explain the details and was very helpful. Takes about 20 minutes. The Relics of St. Xavier are brought out for public view once in 10 years and this will happen in Nov 2014 and till Feb 2015. Historically important place

A world heritage site. Love the serenity of the place. Gives out an amazing positive aura once you are inside.

The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Baroque style church was consecrated in 1605. In 1946 it was raised to the status of a basilica.
This is one of the most visited churches in Goa. It is just across the road from the Se Cathedral. In a room beside the basilica is the tomb of St Francis Xavier.
There is no plaster on the stone structure which looks magnificent after a light rain. The colour of the stone really stands out.

Every time I visit Goa I make sure that I must visit Bom Jesus. So relaxing and soothing you give to your mind while you visit here. Just relax and sit on the bench for 5 min. the environment there will relax your sense. You can see holy body of Saint Francis Xavier. The church is too old and beauty to watch. It is located in old Goa and is bit far away from Panjim.

The church is located in Old Goa and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is considered to be one of the best examples of baroque architecture in India.
The Basilica of Bom Jesus is more than 408 years old and is open to the public everyday. This time we happen to visit it on Sunday and attended the morning service. Photography is allowed inside the church but it is advisable not to click pictures of self inside the church. It is beautiful from inside due to gilded alters.
The body of St. Francis Xavier is kept in a well-decorated casket and it attract a huge number of devotees from all over the world, especially during the public viewing of his body every ten years (last held in 2004). The mausoleum, on the top of which is placed the silver casket with the body of St. Francis Xavier is made of pure silver. The saint is said to have miraculous powers of healing.
Its a must visit place in Goa.
