“Jungle Book”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

We had seen this trip when we booked our holiday and as Jodie loves elephants we were really looking forward to this for months and were not disappointed.
We were collected from our hotel by Hercules who was to be our guide for the two day trip. He obviously enjoys his work as he looked after us with great enthusiasm. On arrival we were treated to a wonderful meal and then shown to our tents in a clearing in the jungle. The tents are very basic but a lot more comfortable than we imagined. We then had a tour of the sanctuary and were shown the plants and spices. Those of us that had not booked the trip to Dhudsagar Falls enjoyed some free time swimming in the river.
The highlight of the holiday followed next when we were allowed to wash the elephants using coconut shells as well as sitting on their backs while they showered us using their trunks. After our evening meal in a traditional village we were then treated to a show by four elephants and given the opportunity to feed them. Hercules then took to us to a bonfire where we enjoyed singing and dancing by the staff of the sanctuary.
In the morning I walked into the local village to get a cup of coffee and because it was a festival I watched in awe as the locals threw coloured powder over each other. These are sort of things you only see on television and shows what a wonderful country you are in and what a great people live there.
After breakfast we did some yoga in a clearing just behind the restaurant led by Hercules. We then had a ride on the elephants round the sanctuary followed by another elephant show detailing the relationship between man and elephant, before the elephants entertained us by playing football, basketball and painting pictures.
After lunch we were taken back to the hotel by Hercules who was still trying his best to entertain us.
Some things you only ever dream about and never think they will come true, this trip is one of them experiences that are better than the dreams.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 3 May 2013 via mobile

Visited for the jungle book tour which was overnight. Absolutely fantastic!! Our tents were comfortable, looked amazing. Had a frog in our toilet and an ant invasion the following morning, but these things happen and I couldn't fault anyone for this...just added to the experience!
Food was delicious and drinks were reasonably priced. Lovely to sit out in front of the tent with a kingfisher in hand listening to the elephants tooting away!
The elephants seemed cared for and it was such an amazing experience to be so close to them. Washed them with coconut shells and had a power shower as well as feeding them. Just being around these animals made the trip for me. Would definitely return!

“great experience”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

We stayed within the sanctuary itself in a dormatory. This was an experience in itself as monkeys were on our doorstep and lizards on our walls good as they kept away the bugs :). We went on the safari and ended up not seeing much but wildlife is wildlife not a zoo so could not be helped. The people were generally helpful and we got to visit the dudsgar falls brilliant experience absolutely amazing.

“a night with the elephants”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

we did the "jungle book " tour, over night in a tent in the jungle sleeping just 5 mtrs from the elephants, now thats an experience! our guide Hercules couldnt have been better, from the very 1st moment of meeting to the drop off at our hotel, he was along side us with all the info we could ever need,we had an elephant ride after checking in to our luxury! tent, tehn food freshly cooked, a tour to a local village and an insight into the lifes of the locals, lovely welcoming people, then to the river to bathe the elephants, and have a shower from them, all the time in the world, not at all rushed, then more food whilst watching the original "Jungle Book" animated film !!!!! then a surprise where you can feed the Elephants treats, an evening singing and dancing around the campfire led by Hercules, next morning early morning walk or later yoga (great fun, cant bend though!) then a show telling about the capture of elephants, a few fun games for the elephants, I even got to buy photos on a disc (R1500) and a painting done by an elephant (R500) then back to the hotel. that alone was worth the trip to Goa, just remember to take cash even though the foods included the treats for the elephants, photos, elephant paintings, gifts, and drinks arent included (all very cheap)and of course tips a great 2 full days well worth the £95 each I would do it again!!!!
