I had stayed in this place way back in 1999 and the overall experience was not bad. But this review is about the bad food I had on Xmas day. Munnar doesn’t have many places that serves great food and most of resorts cater only to the guests staying there and I used to rate Issac as a better place to have food in this hill town. I went there with a large family group of 15 people. We ordered a non-veg menu of Kerala Porottas, Rotis, Fried Rice with Chicken and Beef, sad to say that every single item was taste less (tomato ketchup was the tastiest). I am not sure if the chef was away on Xmas break, but the overall experience was very disappointing.

We reached Munnar in the evening on the second leg of our tour after a lengthy drive from Kochi. As we started the drive around 10 our cab driver halted at several places to ensure an optimum arrival time. These included the Folklore museum and Deepa's spice garden apart from lunch at a vegetarian joint. The last kilometre or so after entering the hill town was a bad patch due to the recent rains. We could discern the similarity to other hill stations.By the time our luggage was offloaded at the hotel we were very tired. There was a nip in the air-more than anticipated,so we headed for a readymade cloth shop in the marketplace for woollens. There was a tea joint with piping hot medu vadas. The dinner buffet at the hotel was quite good. After a good sleep we had breakfast before going to Irvakulam national park.We also saw the Tea museum, flower garden,a dam and echo point.A communication gap made us miss the dinner buffet. After the second day's breakfast,we left for Thekkady. The room was not as tech-savvy as the one at Kochi but still comfortable.Hot water was available at fixed times. The downstairs lobby was wi-fi compatible so I could get my whatsapp backlog. All in all a comfortable stay in a typical hill station setting sans major complaints.

In the entire Munnar, this is the one and only watering hole in the evenings. It has two bars, one for the hoi polloi and an executive bar. The latter has better ambiance and is a little more expensive. The array of Indian and foreign liqour is large and not very expensive. The grilled fish that I ordered with my whisky took a long time to arrive but was very well made. the staff was courteous and I especially complement Mr Thomas who allowed me the use of the wifi while I waited.

Room Tip: I only used the bar

We stayed at the hotel in the third week of November for 3 nights. The Hotel is located in the middle of the town with easy access to market. The toilets and rooms were Clean. Staff were good.
Breakfast was very average and on the third day it was not good. Parking might be a problem if you travel by Car.
