“Excellent place to visit”
Reviewed 24 December 2012

We visited Someshwar temple during the first week of December 2012. Like others had said, it was peaceful, quiet and serene - nobody pushing you around asking you to hurry up. You could stay and pray as long as you wanted to. The atmosphere was very peaceful. You could go very close to the diety and even touch the diety. This was amazing as in the other places you had to stay way back and get only a glimpse of the diety.

There was not much water in the Godavari river at this time of the year. We were told several Indian movies are shot near this river.

Lord Shiva devotees must visit. On the banks of the river, not much rush, also u have lord hanuman, ram & narayan temples in there. U can go right upto the idol. Plenty of parking available as well.

This is a shrine of lord shiva and worth a visit. Located on the banks of sacred river Godavari, this is a place filled with tranquility. Go here for some religious time and peace of mind!

“Quiet peaceful temple reminescent of yester years”
Reviewed 14 September 2012

Remember the days when one visited temples with grandparents? Just for a simple darshan without any queues, got prasad and teerth from a friendly pujari who asked which class you were studying in...one could sit on the steps without being harassed for spare change by an unending line of people of all ages who make a living from pestering/ blessing or cursing those who don't empty their pockets in their begging bowls...

Well, here is one such temple or rather complex of little temples remaining...No big arched entry or security scanner to pass through, not even a compound wall actually... just sort of by the road side under some pipal/ banyan trees... small simple painted buildings with neat name boards, clean courtyard, well adorned idols that one could stand and gaze at for as long as one wanted... no touts, no pujaris pretending to be guides or soliciting donations for the 'big new temple building' ...

Just 3 little temples - Shri Rama, Shri Krishna and Shri Someshwar Mahadev

Maybe it was all quiet and clean because it was a Monday morning? it certainly did away any monday morning blues... well worth a visit. Especially if you want to avoid those human crushing queues where you grab a fleeting glimpse of the reflection of an idol in a mirror if its your lucky day ....
