“Megavarnam Shubangam”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

Vishnu sahasranamam has these verses.....mega varnam shubangam, are used when they describe the beauty of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama is none other than Vishnu, this was the avatar he took in the Treta Yuga, and here, in the Tryambakeshwar in Nashik , you can find this ancient temple, which houses the idols of Rama, Lakshmana and Seeta, all jet black. Mega varnam means, the color of the clouds, and even the Hanuman who is in the front is totally black.
This place is called Panchavati, because there are five Vata trees ( banyan trees), and this whole place was the Dhandakaranya Forest where Rama with his wife Seeta and brother Lakshmana lived in exile for fourteen years.
One feels very blessed to tread the soil where all the Gods have trodden, and it gives us a great feeling of content.
Thousands of devotees visit this temple and they do not forget to visit the Kapaleshwar Mahadev temple, which is the only one in India, which is sans a Nandhi.

The Kalaram temple is an old Hindu shrine dedicated to lord Rama in the Panchavati area of Nasik city in Maharashtra, India. It is probably the most important Hindu shrine in the city. The temple derives its name from the statue of Lord Rama that is black. The sanctum sanctorum also houses the statues of goddess Sita and Lakshmana. As said It was built around in 1788.The main entrance has a Lord Hanuman deity which is also black. It's a religious faith that derive you there..
