“The Ishan Villa needs help!”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

There were a number of problems about this hotel. The first is the location. It is not at all convenient to the attractions in Amritsar and finding transportation was problematic. The hotel is way off the highway, accessible by a dirt, gutted road that our taxis found difficult. There is no landscaping...it stands in the middle of a dirt field and the view out our window to the back was garbage and packs of dogs. The staff that cleaned the room and served in the restaurant seemed not to understand our requests, and one of us spoke Hindi. When my room was cleaned, my things were touched and rearranged. We always had to ask for toilet paper and water, and once hot water was brought instead of cold. When we pre-ordered a breakfast of cornflakes the night before, we received a call in 15 minutes saying our cornflake dinner was ready. It was truly a comedy of errors, and I do not recommend this hotel.

The owner and staff of Ishan Villa went to great lengths to make our stay very comfortable. The day we landed in Amritsar, not only did Mr. Vivek, the owner pick us up from the airport(our driver was sick) he was gracious enough to take us to see the Golden temple by night. The nights were really cold, so they even provided us with a heater in our room. They knew we were Maharashtrians, so they would play Marathi music when we dined in the restaurant. That was a really good trip. Thanks to Mr. Vivek & his team.

We stayed for 3 nights at Ishan Villa at our recent visit to Amritsar.

Owner Vivek, is extremely good and believes in creating an experience. As our train was late , he suggested to take lunch order on phone, so that we don;t waste our time, when we reach hotel, and thus can reach Wagah border in time.He also recommended good places for us to visit.

Some Pros
1.It's a cute little hotel, clean, well maintained
2.Detailing is done on small small things, my son liked the coin collection
3.Food is awesome and the entire staff is very hospitable
4.Our cabs were arranged by Vivek, driver Sohan Singh was very good and reliable
5. Good value , considering the price you are paying

Cons
1.Place didn't look sound proof to me .We could not sleep on our first day, becaase of continuous noise of staff coming till 2 am. After that, we specifically asked them to be less noisy , voices stopped ,and didn't disturb for next few days. Vivek should look into this , as every visitor may not go out of the room on chilly night to complain about the same

2. It is around 10 kms from Golden temple/central attractions/Market. This can be little costly if you need to spend on cab daily, and if you are visiting Amritsar for the first time.

I thought about giving 4 or 5 rating , but ended up giving four mainly because of noises and distance from the central attractions.

Overall it's a worth a stay , if you are looking to spend relaxed holiday, out of the hustle and bustle

I had a short visit to Amritsar in Dec 13. in fact I had booked the hotel in a very short time of around 20 minutes after seeing the name in net and finalising the room with Mr. Vivek. I stayed in Glory. the room is just excellent. The hotel is out of those busy streets and not too far from the main city. I has the perfect ambiance, excellent lounge room, good options for the breakfast and dinner. Housekeeping is very good. Very personalized approach from Vivek - the owner with his team of staff members makes all the difference, when it comes to service - the hospitality with a very positive attitude. The bottom line is for a visit to Amritsar my experience is just reach amritsar railway station, leave the stay and tour package to Mr Vivek and his team and enjoy the JIT service and hospitality. For me n my family for another visit to Amritsar, Ishan Villa is the only place to stay. Thanks Mr Vivek for all the comfort and memorable stay extended by you and your team.

Room Tip: Glory is excellent and knowing the owner all have to be excellent

My first visit to Ishan Villa was in August, 2014 only to explore an option that would suit to the profile of foreign visitors we handle as tour operators in the region. It just clicked and worked so well that I decided to start booking this hotel for our guests. The results were amazing!! Be it the Swiss Nationals who stayed there (15-17th September) followed by Austrian visitors personally escorted by me (3-5th November) opted for this hotel. Food - both continental and Indian that we had was superb. Housekeeping is very good. Rooms (with a theme) meet the requirements of different tastes. Very personalized approach from Vivek and Kompal - the owners with their team of staff members makes all the difference, when it comes to service - the hospitality with a very positive attitude. Thank you Mr. Vivek for making our stay memorable!! I'll be in touch with you.

We arrived and were pleasantly surprised with this hotel, gorgeous interior design, stylish decor and very clean. We were led to our rooms and really happy, air con, hot shower and TV, unfortunately bed wasn't super comfortable - mattress could have been thicker but otherwise sleep quality was good. Food in the restaurant is superb quality and staff very friendly, accomodating and welcoming. Location wise is a 20 min journey to train station, 1 hour to Waga boarder ceremony and 30 mins to Golden Temple. The only thing that is slightly misleading on TripAdvisor is it states free breakfast and free WiFi, this isn't the case and you have to pay for both. Also, during the day the power to your bedroom is turned off, I'm not sure if this is normal for India but we found it quite odd, so don't leave phone/laptop to charge during the day! However we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend to visit to others.
