“Good Stay and Very Helpful Owner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

We took 4 rooms for one night. stay was good as we got very good attention from the staffs and the owner as well. Room was very clean and has a 3 star standard.during our arrival we met the owner and he was very helpful, he gave us all the tips for sightseeing and arranged transportation also. but still reaching to this hotel is really a big task. only rickshaws are allowed in that area because it was near to Golden Temple. also we faced some difficulties while handling our luggage's because we had to take rickshaws to reach the bus. There was no restaurant in the hotel, if we are ordering something, they are getting it from outside. Owner allowed us to keep our lug gages to one room even after check out time. Only 5 mints walk to golden temple.

The facilities in the Akaal Residency are complete for a most comfortable stay in Amritsar near Darbar Sahib. It is well furnished with top class cleanliness and house service. Another most advantageous factor is the proximity to the Darbar Sahib as it is only stone throw away.

We stayed from 1st-4th March 2014 and had a pleasant stay at Akaal Residency. All our 3 rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were attentive and always ready to help, nothing was ever too much to ask for. I even asked them to help arrange for 300pieces of Rs10 notes to make tipping easy and it was arranged. I suggest to talk to them should you need anything and they'll either do it for you or find out about it. A special thanks to Seema for promptly replying all my emails and the Owner who were always there to assist.

We arrived to a cold day in Amritsar and were immediately served water and asked if we needed tea. We had tea delivered to our room and it was so good that I ordered tea every morning for the next 3 days. They provide complimentary bottled water everyday and even a cute snack basket and of coz all the tv channels you could possibly want.

The location is unbeatable as the entrance to the Golden Temple is hardly 10 steps away. Due to that the area is rather congested but safe at the same time even at 12.00am. If you are a photographer and want awesome shots of the Golden Temple location is important. Being nearby would ensure you can head towards the temple at around 5am, watch the sunrise, grab some awesome shots and sneak in a nap before heading out for the day :)

Cycle rickshaws are readily available should you want to go shopping at the nearby markets. But I'd highly suggest walking through the Golden Temple grounds to get to the main entrance and from there exploring the markets.

Our check-in and check-out was fast, airport pick-up was prompt, we arranged a car from the hotel to Haveli for dinner, to Wagah border and also for drop till Chandigarh. Best to arrange a car from the hotel for pickup as after a certain point no unauthorized vehicles are allowed to enter. Trust me you don't want to lung all your luggage on a cycle rickshaw unless you pack light. Overall we had no issues and had a comfortable stay and will definitely return again :)

Room Tip: If you don't mind paying a little more and are claustrophobic ask them for a bigger room.

The hotel is nicely built and is clean. The rooms are a bit small but nice. Although it is claimed to be near the golden temple, the walk it roughly 10 minutes in the narrow bylanes of the city.
The owner was a very interesting person. We did not eat there so cannot comment on the quality of the food. Overall, reasonable but a little overpriced.

We were met at the railway station arranged, the hotel is situated down a small street a few minutes walk away from the Golden Temple. There are not many options for eating close by. Our deluxe room was small but clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water and a room heater, both very welcome when the weather is cool and foggy. The windows do not provide any natural light, the upside to this is the rooms are very quiet despite the hotel being in the city centre. There was complimentary mineral water, tea and coffee making facilities plus biscuits etc in the room but no catering in the hotel. We ordered room service via reception a couple of evenings and the food was hot and acceptable. The hotel arranged a trip for us to the Wagah Border stopping at some temples on the way. The staff were very helpful when we needed to change out check out arrangements at the last minute, overall a good choice if you want a budget hotel close to the Golden temple.

The location of the hotel is at walking distance from the golden temple which makes it a perfect location. Rooms were small but very clean. The staff was polite & helps you for everything you ask them. Overall good option if you wanna stay near golden temple.
