I did not enjoy the stay at this hotel and would not recommend it. The reception area is dark and that is pretty much how the rest of the place is too. Our room was not very clean and others I spoke to had rooms in even worse shape. (One said she had a layer of dirt in the corner a couple of inches deep)The staff didn't seem the least bit helpful and I got a bad feeling from the place.About all I did was sleep (though it was noisy) and was glad to leave the next day.

Amristsar was our last stop in or travels of India and we were stuck in the worst hotel for the last 2 nights.... there was 4 of us and we found the hotel reception staff to be rude and arrogant! very unfriendly staff at this hotel. The rooms were not of standard, unclean sheets and pillows. One of our showers was not working and even after advising them twice, no one bothered to do anything about it so we had to shower in our friends room for the days we were there!!!! Breakfast was so bad that we did not eat at this hotel at all. I would rate this hotel 1and advice people NOT TO STAY HERE!

I had read a couple of reports on Trip Adviser about this hotel and was not much looking forward to my stay. My low expectations proved valid but the hotel was not worse than feared. In fact with a sterner management approach the hotel could be perfectly satisfactory. The staff weren't too bad or unfriendly but would benefit from being better directed. For example, my room was reasonably well appointed but suffered from some very inadequate cleaning. Breakfast was rather poor but my scambled eggs were fine.

In any event, one goes to Amritsar to see the Golden Temple, which is outstanding. If the price you have to pay for getting there is to stay at the Mohan International, then so be it.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at bar none. There were several of us who arrived late at night. The first thing that greeted us on opening the door was a terrible stench. There was a mouse/rat scurrying across the floor of one of the rooms. Upon closer inspection all our rooms have mouse crap on the beds/pillows. We changed rooms and these went from 1 to 1.5 star. The beds were like concrete as were the pillows. When getting under the covers it felt like I was putting my feet in a pile of dust. I was woken up at 3.30am by a wedding procession happening at the hotel playing vile Indian music right under my window for about 20 minutes. Car Horns go on throughout the night outside (not rare in India but it was worse here than any other hotel I stayed at). There was a rusty nail stuck in out towel and to top things off the rooms on the front side of a hotel (which we were in) all have 2 spotlights on right outside the window which makes it seem like it's permanently 7am outside. After 2 calls to reception, they finally turned 1 off! Futher to this I accidently left 2 items of clothing in my room, which I didn't realise until the following evening after check out. When we called the hotel to check if the cleaner found these they had of course 'disappeared'. Funny that...Avoid this dump...trust me!

Amritsar has always had very few hotels, so it's no wonder that with such less competition around Mohan International has had no impetus to keep itself up to date.

The hotel is run down, unhygenic and a total waste of time and money.

Nobody from the front desk, to the housekeeping staff to the bell men know what's happening where.

The rooms are dismal. Paint is peeling off the walls, the carpet is damp, the lighting is dim and dull, the beds and other furniture are rickety and look like they got them from the town dump. The blankets are not washed and have a thin sheet protecting you from them. The pillows are hard, the mattress is harder and the sheets have holes and stains on them.

To top it all off the bathroom was disgusting.

This is a terrible hotel. Don't stay here. Amritsar's other well known hotel M.K. hotel is better, but only marginally. Some new hotels, including Radisson and Shiraz coming up now, keep a look our for those instead, but I haven't stayed there so I cannot say what they'll be like.

The Mohan International reception staff are rude, particularly the male staff member/manager toward females/ foreigners. The rooms are filthy, everything coated in dust, bathrooms disgusting, I wondered about the bed linen and if there was a mattress on the hard bed frame it had seen better days. Half burned candles in the room for power outtages. Breakfast was a sad affair - wasn't really game to eat much. 'The Business Centre' - what a joke - you sat in a filthy back room of the reception area with the switchboard operator and worked on a very slow computer that had also seen better days. As a business traveller with regular trips to India I will never stay in this hotel again and the same can be said of my 15 colleagues with me on the trip. We even arranged to leave Amritsar earlier than planned the next day as we simply didn't wish to stay a minute longer in the place.
