If you ever go to Amritsar, this is the best place to stay. A lovely heritage, homestay that's both homely and comfortable. Amenities are simple but the room is spacious but very clean. The location is excellent, shopping and major attractions like the Golden Temple are close by.

A highly memorable stay! Strongly recommend!

The old house is very nice with great family photos and garden. The location is down a lane way which if you were hoping to walk around might be a put off if you are a woman. Our room a suite was in the newer building at the back and looked out onto a brick wall on both sides. Things were a bit grubby like the AC remote which was sticky and the bathroom wall.I was served a live cockroach in my lunch, which didn't help! However when I was checking out a man from the forever pest control company arrived to spray the kitchen so they responded to the problem. I just felt that for $US200 per night the room could have looked onto something other than 2 brick walls and a dead plant. The breakfast was a bit ho hum with cold toast very sweet juice and tea served with tea bags left in the mug. Noisy AC at night.

Room Tip: If you are just going to the Golden Temple and Border don't stay in a suite

Greetings Ma'am

Firstly I would like to apologise that your stay was not upto your expectation and for the unfortunate incident with your food order. I had met you regarding the same and it has never happened with us, and I am as upset as you are. Please note that we take our cleaniless and upkeep very seriously and our guests feedback of vital importance and had taken immediate action which you noticed the very next day with the pest control agent.

Regarding the views of the suite I have taken your feedback into account and have spoken to the gardener to plant a creeper to make the view pleasant.

Thank you for your kind words and pointing out our gaps so we can fill them inorder to ensure a pleasurable stay for our guests.

With Bliss

We were here in June for 2 nights as part of our wedding anniversary trip to India and the day itself coincided with being in Amritsar for trips to the Border Ceremony and the Golden Temple (don't miss the chapati making machine in the Temple - it makes 5,000 chapatis an hour and is pure Wallace and Gromit!).

We had a large room on the ground floor off the courtyard with 2 bathrooms, which was perfectly adequate and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is set off the main road and is in quite a tranquil spot considering all the mayhem that goes on in the town all the time.

The staff are very friendly and the food pretty good. On our actual anniversary evening we were very pleasantly surprised by the manager who suddenly produced an anniversary cake for dessert. Obviously he had been warned by our trip organisers in advance but it was still a nice touch.

If it matters to you, there is no wifi in the rooms but there is in the lounge.

This heritage property is a calm oasis away from the bustle of the city. The layout of the main buildings, restaurant, rooms and courtyard make for great exploring. There are plenty of places to sit and you can even order room service to be served on the terrace outside your room. The evening meals were a bit of a conundrum in that you never knew whether it was going to be a la carte or buffet style. The staff never seemed sure in advance either. However the food was very good.

Room Tip: There are lots of stairs to get to the upper rooms but if you can manage there are terraces and view...

This hotel has plenty of charm and history. The food was of a good standard and there is a nice place to relax.
The cleanliness was very poor indeed. In our bathroom we found hair on the floor and in the shower. The sleeping area was very dusty and had not been swept. There is no excuse for this. This is basic stuff. Sure, the decor was a bit tired, but that was what we expected of a hotel with old world grandeur..
There seemed to be not enough working staff during our stay. One or two of the folk would be rushed off their feet but the rest, who seemed to be the owners (they outnumbered the staff), just seemed to swan around not doing very much.
We were part of a small tour (VJV). The owners were told of our travel arrangements but the breakfast wasn't on time and the evening meal was late. We were going to organised events,
so it was important that we got our meals on time.
We all had a bit of a laugh about it but if the rooms had been cleaned and meals ready when asked (they didn't say anything at the time of asking) then it wouldn't have been so bad.
If you do go, don't be shy about asking for the room to be clean.
Some of our party had plumbing difficulties, leaks and toilets not working as they should, but that's another story for someone else to tell.

The property has a true punjabi touch, it s an hold house with nice common areas, pleasant veranda, very kind service. Our room was a standard one, though quite big.
As far as cleanliness is concerned this place is not perfect , however good standards for an heritage Indian hotel. You can relax in the common areas and enjoy the nice little spa. Forget about the gim: even if the website states that there is a gim hut, that s actually very very poor. Food is ok.
We got a weekend package and it worked really well!
This is no doubt this is best you can get in Amritsar, unless you want to stay in a boring big hotel like the Hyatt ...

Fantastic place to stay. Avoid the commercial hotels and enjoy the colour and traditional feel of this hotel. Rooms are immaculate and spacious. Staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a lovely relaxed feel about the place. Coudn't ask for more.
