Away from the hustle bustle of the city this is a serene cottage overlooking the Kookal lake. The roads from Kodai to Kookal Eco Farms are a bliss, especially for bikers. One has nice winding roads in deep green forests with canopying trees enticing you with the smell of fresh pine and eucalyptus. And the other is along a deep valley and scenic waterfalls. We even took the bikes in the farms for some adventurous trail riding.
The cottage is very nicely done and is cozy for 5 people. The interiors are very tasteful as well. Even the tent outside looks spacious and comfy. The caretakers are very very friendly and helpful. They catered to all our needs promptly with good home cooked food. Although Mr. Varghese was in Cochin he was still quite approachable on phone and was giving prompt replies of messages too. He helped us with local places around for sightseeing and riding to huge expanses of grasslands. Thank you for hosting us.
Overall, all 5 of us had a great time and we highly recommend this place to everyone. Looking forward to another trip to Kookal soon.
Kookal lake, the near by forest and the village was absolutely the highlight of our trip, and the cherry on top was the eco farm stay @ Kookal. It's was out of the world. We were the only guest their and it was our very own private haven. Having stayed in my fair share of cottages n farm stays ,deep in the forest..I can confidently say that this was the best maintained cottage ever! The cottage itself was spic n span and the best part was the architecture, it was so user friendly and cosy! I counted atleast 5-6 plug points inside the cottage! The private bedroom was so cosy n romantic! We were a party of 3, and the cottage could easily fit 5 people. The next best thing was the caretaker and his son/helper! They really took care of us(I had a small injury the next day and the caretakers wife was very helpful and took care of me). The food was absolutely divine, pipping hot delicious chapathi and chicken curry along with the hot rasam totally made our night! Only disappointment was that we could not see the infamous wild dog hunt near the lake! We will surely be coming again and will be staying for minimum 3-4 days. Also there is a tiny book shelf inside the cottage with a few select books and that was my favourite thing about the whole stay. We could not meet Mr Abraham, but he was very helpful in guiding us to the location and giving us an overview about the farm stay. Nature enthusiast, folks who love the old world charm, this is a must visit place.
Loved our stay in kookal eco farms. It's tucked away from the crowded Kodaikanal town, in a small village called kookal. We visited the homestay as a group of 8. They offer Woodhouse and tents to spend the night which was amazing. In-house meals and barbeque were enjoyed by everyone in our group. The hosts Mr and Mrs Varghese are absolute gems. They are always up for any help and made our stay truly memorable. This homestay is highly recommended for a relaxed vacation by the kookal lake and hills!
