“Friendly staff, Warm Stay”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

We stayed here for a couple of days during February 2014. Excellent place to stay, without making a hole to your wallet! I must mention the most courteous & friendly staff I have seen, Mr. Deepak, Mr. Ramanathan and his whole team. They made sure everything was arranged before we reached Kodai. They arranged for a cab for 2 day visit, and our driver Stephen (9659 723675) turned out to be our tour guide and photographer! I highly recommend Kodai Retreat & Mr. Stephen if you plan a visit to Kodai.

Our stay at Kodai Retreat in Feb 2014 was really pleasant. The room was spacious and clean and had a small balcony. The staff was extremely friendly. We enjoyed going for walks every day so we didn't mind being 2 km outside of Kodaikanal. We were very happy about the quietness of the place - though we can imagine this might be different during the main season.

Reviewed 30 December 2013

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days in December 2013 during Christmas & had booked honeymoon package. The hotel is around 2 kms from kodaikanal bus stand & the stay was very good. Mr. Deepak (Front office manager) had been very courteous & generous from the time of booking and also made all the necessary arrangements for us from booking of cab to pick us up from the Bus stand-checking in- during the stay- dropping us to the bus stand after we checked out. The location of the hotel is good with cozy and spacious rooms (with mini balcony) not luxurious but comfortable enough. The staff of kodai retreat are very cooperative and helpful they made sure that guest’s demand are fulfilled within few minutes with excellent room service without any hassle. The quality of food was good though could be done better only problem during my stay was food was occasionally served cold though it is understandable that temperature was 5-8 C but still the staff did their best in serving hot food only suggestion to kodai retreat management is it would be great if they had in-house restaurant though they serve the food. the disadvantage is food has to be ordered in advance if they had in-house restaurant we could ordered as per our immediate requirement. Ambience of the hotel & the rooms is par excellence. Mr. Deepak also made all the necessary arrangements for sightseeing & trekking so it saved lot of my time since it was planned and arranged.
Overall we would like to thank Mr. Deepak & Mr. Ramanathan (Head Manager) for their wonderful support during our stay and the experience in kodai retreat is par excellence with excellent management.
we would rate 9/10 to the overall experience in kodai retreat with 1 point we are reserving with us because it has still scope for improvement. hope that 1 point is redeemed on our next visit.
we Would like to visit to the hotel every time when we are in kodaikanal & would recommend to others too.

Room Tip: Pick a room which is down to the reception as it gives a good view of the environment than the rooms...

This place is awesome. I stayed here with my family in Nov, 2013. We opted for 2 bed family suit. Loved the stay, the reason being, excellent staff, cozy rooms, and all the services without any hassles.
The hotel is around 2 km from the main town but that should not be a problem.
And I would also like to say thanks to My Deepak, the hotel manager for the way he manages the place.

Overall, really happy to choose this place.

Room Tip: While in Kodai, if you want to have north Indian food, go for restaurant TAVA VEG. Its really awesom...

Stayed at Kodai Retreat in mid october 2013 for two nights. Mr.Deepak, the manager is very proactive and made sure our experience was pleasant from the booking onwards.

We stayed at the cottage with 2 bedrooms, which is a very spacious house. It is old but comfortable. Three kids(<3yrs) had a lot of space to run around inside the cottage as there is a verandah, a living cum dining room and a spacious kitchen in addition to the bedrooms.

Food had to be ordered in advance, but was good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly. Parking for cars is adequate.

Hot water is available round the clock, but the water heaters in each bathroom have to be manually switched on at least half an hour in advance.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at The Kodai Retreat. I feel it is has all the amenities we need and is value for money.

Would visit again.
