A Very Warm and a pleasant stay is guaranteed at this place, the rooms are cozy and the view of the valley is at the best when you stay at this place. Meeting the budgets of all classes. Courteous staff and well maintained lawns, garden, tasty nourishments. We recommend this is the best alternative place to spend your vacation in a better way.

This is a small hotel having different types/categories of room. Every selection of room make prime role as all rooms are of different size and location.
We stayed for two nights in this hotel in last November and we were with our two children for first night family suit was not available therefore i booked two deluxe rooms as per availability. But our first day stay was not comfortable with this hotel due to room size, location and poor service of staff. On second day we shifted to family suit and it was amazing. Though there is some what compromise in location as there is only city view but suit is spacious for family and you can enjoy to gather.
As due to our complain about service their second day service was very fast and there was lot improvement in everything. Even we enjoyed their food but this hotel lacuna is that they have only one family suit.

Room Tip: If you are with family prefer family suit only.

Had a wonderful and memorable stay at Villa retreat during the first week of November 2013.
The property has one of the best views located adjacent to Coakers walk. The rooms are very well maintained...good food... very friendly and courteous staff...would recommend to anyone visit Kodiakanal... Great value for money

Room Tip: Deluxe Suite or room 108 for excellent view

I am not a blogger so will keep my review just to the point.
Location : The property couldn't have been located at a better spot, sharing the entrance with coaker's walk it has the best views in town.
Buildings: well the quality of rooms are very good, a little aged but very good still.
Common area : The garden is to die for and speaks tons about their dedication to "being different"
service : excellent and they work very hard to please their guests and they do go the extra mile to make the stay as memorable as possible and not just one or 2, everyone at this property is like that. It was such a good feeling to receive a box of chocolates and a bouquet just because it was our anniversary. good thinking guys !

negatives : The service charge of 10% in their restaurant is the highest i have ever seen anywhere, service charge should be kept at 4% tops and second - they follow up a little too many times to make sure trip advisor ratings are updated. i think they should make one call and one email and then let it go, instead of calling over and over again.

Room Tip: 107 and 108 are the best 2 rooms, 108 is the BEST. they are called classic valley view room.

To surprise my wife for her birthday, I booked the deluxe suite for two days in November. There was a tropical cyclone warning when we decided to start from Bangalore, hence we were apprehensive about the trip. Luckily for us, everything turned out great.

Firstly Villa retreat is easy to find. Ask for Coakers walk or call the hotel for directions if lost. When I missed one turn and asked around, I found some touts who were trying to sell rooms gave me incorrect directions or made excuses like "hotel name is changed sir, let me show you" etc. This was the only annoying part of the kodaikanal trip.

The room was spacious enough for us. It had a room with attached bath and a sort of living room as well. Our 20-month old son had enough space to run around inside the room. The view from the room was spectacular. We had both the valley view and the kodai city view from the room. The hotel provides room heater or fire-wood on request. We opted for the room heater considering the kid. it was a great time to visit kodai as the number of tourists were less and made for a more relaxed time overall.

The hotel's in-house restaurant has enough variety for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I recommend their Fish Fry. It was especially good. We also had tasty vegetarian fair. Special mention to the staff for catering to the dietary needs of our son. They met every demanding request with a smile. Had great service throughout the stay. The staff also did not expect nor were they looking for tips. This made for a very pleasant experience.

The front desk staff provided valuable suggestions on the trip and weather conditions. They were both friendly and professional. We also saw the standard rooms to see if we want to extend our stay. I must say the rooms were new, clean and big. Except for the view, the standard rooms themselves were excellent. For the view, you need to stay in the deluxe suite or higher.

I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting Villa retreat and Kodaikanal again.

Room Tip: Choose the valley view room. It has a good sit-out area and good for kids to play around.
