This is a nice place to stay, good food in the cafe downstairs and a lovely comfortable bed. I liked it here, it is close to the Royal Elephant Kraal, also known as elephant stay. There is a variety of other places to eat in the street. I was more than happy to eat here.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room first, they are all different.

I would recommend this place to EVERYONE!!!! Staff is very friendly, room was clean and there was A/C. Good location, not to noisy. They serve delicious meals (breakfast, dinner, snacks, ...) as well. Good price for what you get. There's a swimming pool, a small one, but just enough to cool down from the heat. Excellent place!!!

From the main road, you will think Tony's Place is a café. We booked a superior room with air condition and breakfast. The room is spacious, clean (though dark due to the timber and wood they use) and quaint. The place has interesting architectural design. Food is good and it is a relaxing place to stay. Many tourists thus the place is crowded but not overly crowded and on certain nights they do have live band and singing. A small pool but good enough if you want a dip to cool you off from the hot weather. Friendly and English speaking staff. I would recommend this place instead of a standard hotel.

Room Tip: request to stay in the main bldg.

I stayed here for 1 night in a 350 baht double bedroom with fan. The room was clean and situated in a bungalow which is transformed to now house 4 rooms. The bathroom can be a bit dark in the evening but the price you pay is more than making up for that.

The main reason why you would stay here is the atmosphere and the restaurant. You can chill out perfectly in the restaurant and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant is slightly expensive for a backpacker, but the food is good.

The location is good too, it is situated on the island in the street with all the hostels. Just rent a bike or a motorcycle to visit all the ruins.

All in all good value for your money, so I give it 5/5.

Very friendly and English speaking staff. They're ready to help you immediately, answer any question. Main building has well designed wooden rooms, cheapest rooms are not so beautiful but clean and neat. Good and fast internet. Tasty food for reasonable price at the restaurant until late. A bit far from the center, around 2 kilometers, but you can get the temples by tuk-tuk, only 50-100 baht. Nice live music in the evening at the restaurant. I heard annoying disco nearby, but they finished right after midnight.
In conclusion: strictly recommended!

We stayed at Tony's Place for two nights in March 2014. We had an ensuite bathroom, and AC for about $28 USD per night.

Pros:
- great style. It looks like they have taken old Thai teak houses and used bits and pieces to build the hotel and restaurant. This gave the place an authentic feeling.
- swimming pool to cool down in after a hot day of sight seeing.
- clean
- the traditional doors lock with a pad lock on the outside, which is provided by the hotel. The pro is that you can secure your room with your own pad lock instead of theirs.
- good food in the restaurant, but a bit pricey for what you get.
- several restaurants across the street.
- wifi in the room, but can be a bit difficult due to the number of people on line at any given time.

Cons:
- a key deposit of $1,000 baht (about $30 USD) is required. We got it back when we checked out, but it could still have an impact on someone traveling on a tight budget.
- not a good place for people with mobility issues.
- there can be loud, live music downstairs at night. It seems to end by about 10:30.

We arranged a private Tuk Tuk tour of the various ruins through Tony's for $600 baht ($30 USD). It was well worth it as it was really not and humid. We never would have made to all the Wats if we hadn't done the Tuk Tuk route. That said, there was no "guiding" involved. The driver would merely get us to the next destination and wait in the shade until we were done.

We also booked the sunset river tour of various Wats through Tony's. The price tag on that was about $6 USD each. Again, well worth it.

Final opinion: it is more than just Tony's Place. It's a more like Tony's Empire. Everything you need in one place. We would stay there again.
