This hotel is very typical of a 3 Star Thai Hotel. The hotel is starting to show its age and as usual they do not seem to want to update or repair anything. The staff at reception and the bell boy were both very helpful and friendly, all the other staff were miserable and unhelpful.

We arrived late in the afternoon after travelling down from Northeast Thailand and this was one of only two 3 Star htoels that had any rooms available, the first one we tried to book into, wanted to charge us twice the price advertised outside, so we booked into this one instead.

We tried to order food in the restaurant and was kept waiting for 20 minutes before we were served, we ordered two soft drinks and they took a further 10 minutes to arrive, so we cancelled our order and paid for the drinks and then left. My partner who is Thai, tried to explain to the staff what the problem was, but the member of staff just walked off half way through the conversation. There is also a girl or two singing in the restaurant at night, so you cannot have any conversation with your partner as it is too loud.

Breakfast was typical buffet style, as usual they tried to give me powdered milk with my coffee, so I used the milk left for cereal instead. The staff were just as unfriendly and unhelpful at breakfast as the ones the night before.

When will Thai staff in hotels learn that if you keep treating customers they way they do, the customers will not come back and they will not have a job. A smile costs nothing and this is supposed to be the land of smiles!!

I stayed in several distinctly average Thai hotels on the Explore Worldwide Holiday "Old Siam and the River Kwai". This was one of the ones where I was glad I had my own sheets with me, just in case!
The only redeeming feature was a fairly nice little restaurant down the road and a nearby 7/11.

Ugh, a middle-class hotel which is really not good at all. Arriving late at night, and trying to order room service, we were told the Chef had gone home (the night-duty Chef, that is). Food did come but was very unremarkable. Room was dated, and problems with the AC tripping the switch gave our night a feeling of being haunted. Lots of antiquated menus and literature in the room along with the facilities give the place a certain sense of character, perhaps pointing to the hotel's "Golden Age" and heyday, maybe twenty five years ago. Hilariously, the room menu said "if you would like to take a copy of this menu as a souvenir, please contact your maid." Given the lack of ability to order from the menu, clearly the management are not without a cracking sense of irony.

The price was expensive for what we ended up getting. Clean enough to spend a night but for a third of the price, there are so many delightful small Thai hotels in the city which are decorated individually; there's really no point in staying here if you can find a room anywhere else.

We spent a night at the U-Thong Inn as part of a 3-night tour from Bangkok following a trip to the River Kwai and the war cemetery at Kanchanaburi.
This was by far the worst of our hotels on the tour, but it really didn't bother us too much as it was only for one night.
The hotel was a strictly business-type hotel and had certainly seen better days in its general decor. The dinner was so unremarkable I cannot even remember what it was.
We always disappear as soon as a hotel looks as if it going to provide entertainment, and as soon as we heard an tone-deaf Thai girl preparing to sing we headed out of the door. We found a tiny, dusty roadside bar next door to the hotel and spent a far more enjoyable evening than the rest of our tour group who either persevered with the "entertainment" or headed off for an early night.

This hotel is misleading, its hotel pictures look new... However upon arriving the hotel was generally rundown and needed a big refurbishment. The hotel room had a musky smell of cigarette smoke despite that room being a non-smoker's room. Cleanliness was not great there despite having hotel rates. The hotel rating would be around 2.5 stars only. The staff were somewhat unprofessional and location was terrible, as it was on a busy freeway not close to any restaurants or anything. Breakfast looked sloppy and disgusting. I would suggest either booking a hotel near the train station or booking somewhere within the central shop/market area. This hotel was extremely disappointing and I'm glad I only booked for one night!
