“A-MAZ-ING!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

Before staying at this hotel I didn't really understand why people obsessively return to the same hotel over and over again. Now I do! I clearly hadn't found the right hotel yet! As soon as you arrive you feel incredibly at home with a drink and personal tour of your room by Chico (who is also your go-to guy for any bookings etc). All the staff make an effort to find out your name and they are good at judging if you want to join in or not. If you do want to join in, as we did, there are games of volleyball, darts and jenga to be had against the staff or in mixed teams. Nico (the bar staff's ringleader) will bet shots on the outcome of puzzles and card tricks. The owners Tony and Patrick were around when we were there, they had friends visiting and included all the guests in a boozy night at the bar.

We stayed in an Enchanted Villa, although this was the smallest of the rooms we experienced in Thailand it was perfectly ample. It is rustic, you will get insects and lizards in your room as you're pretty much in the jungle, but this wasn't an issue for us and there was a mosquito net. There were lovely touches such as a hammock outside each room along with a pot of water and wooden ladle to rinse the sand from your feet. There is a library of books, magazines and dvds at reception which are free to borrow.

As many others have already mentioned, you pretty much have the beach to yourself which is fantastic. It is a little rocky, so you just have to be careful at high tide. The resort was fully booked when we were there, but you could always get a sun lounger and it never felt busy. The pool is great and drinks were often hand delivered while we were in it! The massages on the beach were pricier than on other islands, but were awesome and so relaxing as the beach was so peaceful.

Breakfast is great, the bread was gorgeous and the daily changing home made cakes/pastries were fantastic. The restaurant food was very good quality, we thought it was the best of the other options on the beach. Both thai and western options were great, and there is a lot to choose from.

The only slight negative is the distance of the resort from anything else, but then that's also part of it's charm. The resort collected and dropped us back to the pier, a 40 minute drive, for free. We did a day trip with Lanta Longtails and a cooking course with Time for Lime and both were happy to collect and drop us back here.

We were so sad to leave! Thanks for an amazing time - we will be back!!!

We stayed in LaLaanta for 4 nights and truly enjoyed our stay. The whole atmosphere is very laid back and you will enjoy your stay if you are laid back as well. In LaLaante you feel as if you are part of a family since all the employees are hanging out with each other and you are always welcome to join them - or not, just as you wish. If you expect 5 star hotel service then this is not the place to go for you. If you enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and do not expect everything to be absolutely perfect, then this is your place.
The beach is oustanding as there are only 3 hotels at this beach, so it is not crowded at all and the sunset is just beautiful, every single night.
We had a sunset villa and were very pleased with it, nice bathroom, nice room even though the AC is very loud, so we had to turn it on and off during night.
If you want to get around the island, just rent a motorbike (the hotels has motorbikes) and explore the island. This will also give you the opportunity to eat elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I spent five nights at La Lanta Hideway in April 2013 and we can't recommend it enough.

Firstly, the staff are fantastic. They are extremely friendly and make a concerted effort to get to know each of the guests from the moment they arrive. Within hours, it seems they know what you like to eat, drink and even what football team you support. Furthermore, the service is excellent; whether it's at the bar, breakfast or laundry.

We stayed in one of the "enchanted villas", which was ample big enough for two people. The villa included a TV, DVD player (La Lanta has an extensive DVD library with up-to-date films - all free) and a large comfortable bed. The bathroom had everything we needed and the villa was air conditioned too. We also had a hammock on our veranda, which looking back, we should have used more!

The pool is really nice and being right on the beach means you can easily access the sea if you want to cool off. The beach itself is a little rocky in parts, but is generally great and a nice place to watch the sunsets from.

As La Lanta is quite secluded, we ate at the hotel pretty much every day, although there are a couple of other options just along the beach - so easily walkable. La Lanta's food is a good mix of decent quality Thai dishes and a few western options, and the breakfast is really good - lots of fruit, muesli, eggs and juice.

It's generally a very, very chilled atmosphere at La Lanta, making it the perfect place to relax. The surroundings are beautiful, the accommodation clean and comfortable and the staff as helpful and friendly as you could hope for. Admittedly the location makes it a little more difficult to head out for day trips and other activities (we'd pre-planned to stay at Long Beach after our stay here so we could be a bit more active!), but if you're looking to relax by a great beach and enjoy the sun, this place is ideal.

Our Lonely Planet guide mentioned that La Laanta was barefoot elegance at its finest ... which is so true!! We just spend the 4 most relaxing days at this gorgeous place. La Laanta is located on a splendid & quiet beach near the Ko Lanta Marine National Park. It should be noted that the resort is not close to the action (i.e. bar, restaurant, etc.); however, you can easily rent a motorbike to visit the island. We loved the place so much that we didn't even feel the need to visit the island. Our room (Slendid Sunset) was large and clean with big doors opening to a deck overlooking the infinite pool and sea. The restaurant is next to the beach and serves great thai and vietnamese food. The staff was so friendly and seemed very happy to work at this place. The person at the reception (Chico) looked after us so well. Everything was so easy & perfect - this is how a vacation should be!! I wish we could have stayed longer ... one day I'm sure we will go back to this special place!

LaLaanta is a really special place, made so by the lovely staff, beautiful setting and care and attention that has been put into the layout and facilities. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - it is the most relaxing place we have ever been. The staff are all super friendly and look after you so well. The rooms are a good size and contain everything you need - the sandcastles in particular are amazing - right by the pool and beach, really big, great bathroom - perfect! The food, drinks, pool etc are all great too. The beach is in a league of it's own, absolutely beautiful and as there are just three hotels on it, it is never busy. We stayed for 10 days and did not leave the beach once - LaLaanta has everything you need for a perfect holiday!

We booked this hideaway destination as part of a great vacation organized by Andaman Adventures. They also organized our other hotels and excursions for us as well.

The resort grounds are beautiful. The staff is very friendly; perhaps the highlight was playing volleyball on the beach with them during sunset. The rooms are nice and comfortable with great showers. This hotel also has a very nice pool and great beachside massages. The food at the restaurant is excellent, though somewhat pricey.

I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for a great value resort on lanta

La Laanta is a true slice of paradise. It's located on a very quiet stretch of beach on the far south end of Koh Lanta and the very last resort on the beach. We stayed for five nights and wish we had been able to stay longer. There were times that we were the only ones on the beach!
As you drive up to the resort, don't be fooled by initial appearances as the road leading into La Laanta is basically just a dirt path and there are several huts along it that initially mar its true beauty. But as soon as you start walking down the path towards the pool, restaurant, and beach any reservations quickly subside. Our bungalow was spacious and incredibly clean. It was decorated in a very traditional Thai style and we found it to be incredibly cozy and comfortable. The pool area is very nice, as is the beach. The restaurant and bar were great. We enjoyed a lot of Thai dishes and all were delicious and incredibly fresh. While the facilities are great, the staff are the true gem at La Laanta. Tony, June, Patrick, Chio, Chico, Ting, and all the others were so accommodating. They were friendly and able to assist with whatever needed, whether it be lining up day trips or ferry transfers-always with a smile. We were there as part of our honeymoon and they went out of their way to make it extra special for us, which we didn't expect and appreciated so much. There are only about three to four other resorts on this stretch of beach and three other restaurants (which we also ate at and enjoyed) so it's an incredibly quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Snorkling is great right off the beach and it was fun to kayak in the bay as well.
Just an absolutely phenomenal experience- we can't wait to return, hopefully sooner rather than later!
