Just arrived here early this afternoon and already in love with this place: laid back beach, relaxed huts/rooms with all amenities necessary, lovely attentive staff.... And have I mentioned the food yet???? So fresh, well-prepared and beautifully presented! Too bad we can only stay here for 2 nights, but we will be back and bring the whole family.
We stayed at Lalaanta for a week in October. The weather was great - there were a few showers but mainly at night so they didn't affect our trip. The price of our room was about a third as much as it would have been in high season so it's well worth considering visiting in October time. There were between 2 and 5 rooms occupied while we were there so it was nice and quiet.
We booked a Sunset bungalow which I would definitely recommend. It had great views of the sea, whereas the rooms at the back didn't have good views and were a bit out of the way. The room was lovely with a nice big mosquito net and a terrace at the front.
The beach itself was deserted most of the time. There were no buildings south of the hotel so you could wander the half mile stretch of sand, often accompanied by one of the hotel's four dogs who we loved.
We happily ate in Lalaanta every night of our stay as the food was good and fairly priced. If you wanted to visit other areas, the hotel could arrange transport. We did a 4 island tour which I would recommend (800 baht). We also visited the national park next to the hotel where we saw some dusky leaf monkeys - I would also recommend visiting although the walk to the park entrance is where we saw most of the wildlife rather than in the park itself.
The staff at Lalaanta were all great, fun and helpful. The wifi worked well the whole time. The only bad points I can think of is that some of the fixtures could do with a bit of a spruce up, such as the umbrellas round the pool and the lanterns around the restaurant. Some of them looked a bit tired, although while we were there they were doing some DIY presumably preparing for high season in November. Plus the TVs in the rooms only work for DVDs, not as actual TVs as advertised on the website. But not a big deal when you're on holiday.
In summary, this place is perfect to relax, you will feel right at home.
We were in Thailand for our honeymoon, without much planning. And somehow landed in this heavenly place and stayed there for the rest of our trip. Couldn't ask for more! Best honeymoon ever!
Romantic, perfect serenity, gorgeous views, beach and 2 pools, amazingly friendly staff. Definitely coming back again sometime when the kids grow up a bit!

We stayed in the beachfront villa at the end of May for four nights, the service was great we were treated so well - admittedly there were only a few other guests staying at the time being low season but the staff are super friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic and the beach was beautiful. It's very very quiet in this area of Koh Lanta so if you need anything from seven eleven or such places you should bring it with you!
This a beautiful, laid back resort which is tucked away in the southern end of the island, down a dirt track. The hotel picked us up from the ferry terminal free of charge and also organised our return trip to Phuket. The resort was fantastic value, (we were there in low season) and on arrival we were upgraded to a sandcastle room free of charge. Chico, the hotel manager, was very welcoming and great fun. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. Some of the furnishings were a little tired, but this added to the relaxed feel of the resort. The initial couple of problems we found (shower not turning hot and a loose tap on the bath) were also sorted out very promptly.
The beach was lovely and quiet. At the time that we were there, the sea was too rough to swim in, although was gorgeous to look at whilst sipping a cocktail in the bar! The food was good and affordable and we were happy to eat there everyday for the 5 days that we stayed (which was just as well as there are no other options around!). The breakfast choices became a little limiting as you had to order from a menu, (rather than being able to help yourself from a cereal bar) but the staff were very attentive and responded well to everything we requested.
All of the staff seemed very friendly and happy.
The national park is about a 20 minute walk away, and has another nice sandy beach and a nice nature trail.
I would definitely visit again for a relaxing break.
The resort it self is located at the most southern beaches and close to the national (marine) park. It has 2 nice pools with enough sunbeds to accomodate the guests. If you have a sandcastle on the side of the beach, you can just take 10 steps and jump in. The pools are overall nice and clean.
The beach is indeed a fisherman's (rocky) beach. This means, like us in the rain season, you will have to be carefull. There are a couple of (1 has markers) rock free "entrances" ;) into the ocean. So you can still enjoy the nice and warm ocean without have to worry about rocks.
Rooms are nice and clean. Beds are a bit hard (thai standard it seems). Views from the sandcastle room and balkony are superb. Shower is nice and the bath has a nice view over the pool/ocean.
Restaurant has very acceptable prices and very good quality of food. We ate there every day for diner and where amazed by the quality (compared to the range of choices you have).
We where in the low season (rain season), but the staff was very helpfull, happy and smiling all day.
Hotel helps with transfers has scooters for rent (not always nicely fueled) and Chicko is the best in helping you.
Breakfast served every morning is a bit limited, but quality is ok. For us (a week) it became a bit boring.
We would definitly recommend this resort. Some downside is maybe the price and the breakfast choices.
