I booked the hotel with the specific goal of resting. I stayed 5 nights and was completely recharged.
I was in the second row bungalows facing the beach.
In the early morning I was able to run by the road going to the National park, (no cars, no bikes, only monkeys), then breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
After that I would walk the beach and have a swim in the beautiful blue waters.
I always had lunch in the hotel, I loved the fried rice in a pineapple they prepare.
In the afternoon I would stay at the hammock reading and appreciating the amazing view.
I really had no need to leave the hotel during my stay, and Orn was very helpful to fulfill all my requests.
I am sure I will go back!

This place is the best hideaway on Koh Lanta i have ever found. You stay in new bungalows 10 meters from the beach. Small privat place, who build brand new bungalow in 2012. The staff is freindly and helpfull. We stayd there with our son when he was 5 month old and injoyd it wery much.

Room Tip: pich the beach front bungalows

We - a family of 3 with a little child 2 years of age visited Baan Phu Lae one week before heading for another place in a small island close by in April 2013. We had already in advance paid for the other place, wich was the only reason for leaving and the next place could only be a dissappointment after our visit to Baan Phu Lae - and quite so it was.

Its a small family run place and the people running the place are the most kind staff and the atmosphere are very relaxed and laid back. It is the perfect spot for people traveling with or without children. The staff are also very good at helping arrange ones further jurney and small trips while statying there.

The food is absolutely brilliant, the best we've had in any place in Thailand, very well spiced and served in the great surroundings it simply does not get any better.

The rooms are perhaps not the best in the world, but they life ot to standards and the prices are very fair.

The surrounding and the beach is great to - a bit of rocks but at the same time great view and a whole beach almost to one self.

We can only reccomend the place very highly and will surely return there som time when we come back to Tahiland.

This place is legit. Secluded location right on the beach, far away from the hustle and bustle. Great vibe in the mellow yellow restaurant and bar area, super friendly service with awesome food (above average food and beverage - very tasty). Everyone that works here is so friendly, attentive and always smiling - very chill atmosphere. The beach bungalows give you a sense of home away from home as you fall asleep to the relaxing sounds of the ocean lapping up on the beach at your doorstep. The relaxing theme extends as far as the white sand stretches down the beach to the great guys at 'Dream Bar' next door and the fun 5pm beach volleyball in front of La Laanta Resort (just a bit further down the beach). The bar area has ocean front lay down tables that are perfect for epic sunsets and romantic cocktails under the stars. This is the place you have been looking for during your stay in Ko Lanta - 20 baht says you extend your stay because you love it so much!!

Room Tip: Definitely book in advance and ask for a beach bungalow (front row) - you will not be disappointed...

First off, this review is LONG overdue! Sorry Nik & Ojn!

My girlfriend and I visited Thailand for 4 weeks in December 2012. Our first visit to Thailand so we made lots of plans to take in as much as we could in the north for 2 weeks and then 2 weeks on an island for christmas and new year to chill. All went perfectly to plan until we arrived on our chosen island, Koh Lanta.
The resort we arranged to stay in was not what we wanted at all! It was like being in Europe not Thailand. Tourist information in Ban Saladan helped us out greatly and pointed us in the direction of Baan Phu Lae. A scooter ride down there confirmed exactly what we were looking for and we checked in the next day.

We wanted beautiful beaches, bays, a simple beach hut with a hammock, real thai food and company, reasonable prices but above all the chance to have peace and quiet when you wanted. Baan Phu Lae and their team gave us all these things. A lovely Xmas tree made from palm leaves too!

If you don't like seriously good Thai food don't eat there! Their sizzling dishes were delicious, we couldn't fault the food, even their english stylee breakfast was good. Lovely cocktails too (try a Blue Man). The restaurant and bar are the perfect place to start or finish your day.
Al the staff were genuinely good fun and very welcoming, fire shows etc for Xmas and next time we are in the area we will definitely revisit them. A great place to kick the blues or indeed to listen to the blues or even drink the blues! Highly recommended.

We found Baan Phulae by taking a scooter ride around the island and decided to trek down the hill and check it out, we were pleasantly surprised. This place is amazing, if remote is what you are looking for than look no further. The Bungalows are very simple, no AC or TV, which is what we were looking for - a place to unplug and relax. I'm not sure why anyone would give this place a negative review, what do you expect, you are on an island in the Andaman Sea and a remote part of the island at that.
Our bungalow was front row center and very clean, the bed was clean with a nice mosquito net over it. The bathroom was simple and clean and I could care less if the toilet had rust behind it.
The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful and upbeat. The food was excellent from our morning coffees to lunch and dinner. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.
It is the last resort on the end of the island so you are quite a far scooter ride if you want/need to goto Saladan or any other village but it is worth the ride, just be careful when riding at night because it is very dark out there (always carry a flashlight).
The beach in front of Baan Phulae is perfect for swimming and snorkeling and you might get lucky and see some monkeys at the end of the beach, like we did.
Make sure you work your way over to "Don't worry be happy" bar and say hello to War - very cool dude.
We had such a great time at this little far away gem that we stayed for an extra 3 days.
We highly recommend you stay here, even if its just for a few days, sometimes its nice to "unplug".

Room Tip: The swimming pool is the lagoon in front of your bungalow and the fitness center is running on the b...
