“Excellent stay!!”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

Lanta Sea House feels like a very professional resort in comparison to other more intimate and personal as is common in Thailand. The staff were constantly on their toes, ready to help or answer questions. Very professional! The resort is very well located right in the middle of Klong dao beach with a huge variety of restaurants and bars.

The room was simple but was relatively modern and suited our little family perfectly. Beds and pillows were really comfortable and here we got a real extra bed instead of the simple travel bed that you usually get. The cleaning was excellent and it really felt fresh and clean in the room.

The food was not as fun as the many beach restaurants but quite ok and the buffet breakfast was always very fresh and good. A nice pool in front of the restaurant, lots of playing kids so can be a bit noisy at times.

We had a really nice stay and would love to come back!

Koh Lanta, and especially Klong Dao Beach, is truly family friendly. Calm, quiet and extremely relaxed. Even in high season when there are lots of tourists Koh Lanta retains the feeling of small-scale and organic growth where much business is operated by local Thais. Klong Dao is perfect for families with children, even for very young children, the beach is so shallow that it works well to run the buggy on the beach except for an hour just at high tide.

Stayed in a superior garden bungalow for 1 week. The accommodation pretty much matched my expectations given the amount we were paying. The bungalow was basic but reasonably well maintained, a/c was good, sheets and towels were clean, and the cleaners were very good. The location is great. Most of the other guests seemed to be Scandinavian - apparently there are direct flights from Oslo to Krabi, I wish I'd known this before arranging my flights..Anyway.
So the staff are really good, very helpful.
Location is really good.
Buffet breakfast is good, and food in general is of a good standard.
Accommodation - you get what you pay for, Garden bungalows can be a bit old, but there were some lovely newer bungalows.
None of the resorts seem to have enough loungers - which leads to the stupid game of getting up before dawn and putting towels out.. And you should buy an sun umbrella (about £4) from one of the nearby markets as there is never enough shade..

Room Tip: Don't book through the website - get in touch via email and you will get a much better rate.

Good value for money we had Superior Garden Bungalow and a good breakfast as well.Right on the beach plus easy access into Salaman .Worth a mention the staff are all very pleasant and helpful, will definitely stay a third time !!!
One minus having to get up early to claim a sun bed with a dreaded towel .

After my horror stay in Full Moon Bay Resort where I was almost killed by bedbugs I was very happy to find the Lanta Sea House Resort. The first meeting with the frontdesk showed that this lady named Pun did understand her job. Later I did find out that she works everyday about 16 hours a day and that for sex months. I myself work also at the frontdesk from a hotel in Amsterdam and was suprised to hear that se works that much. But friendly all the time she was. She also did sent me with transport from the resort to a doctor. We had a beautiful house almost at the beach. It was cleaned every day and looked very good with AC and TV plus fridge in the room. Big bathroom. There is a nice pool, how ever we prefer the nice sandy beach and the clear blue water.Food in the restaurant was very good, special the stuffed pineaple. If we ever would come back I think I will return to Lanta Sea House.

Out of the five hotels we stayed in during our trip around Thailand this was the best value by far. Rooms very clean, staff helpful and friendly with many speaking English, good ameneties and very clean. Got to be one of the best sunset's we have ever seen. Hotel is on the beach, food and service excellent

Room Tip: If you can get sea facing the sunset is beautiful, we couldn't but enjoyed the sunset by the bea...

We stayed at the Lanta Sea House for over 2 weeks in mid November and were very sad to leave. We had previously stayed at another hotel which was not on the beach and cost 400 bahts more a night than the Sea House and was far inferior. We took the cheapest option of a garden room with a fan and no hot water. It was a stand alone bungalow in the gardens with a balcony, was very clean, spacious and had a TV, fridge and free wifi with a very good signal. We could have paid more to have air conditioning which would also provide hot water but we didn't see the need. There was a nice breeze through the bungalow with the windows open and they were all screened so kept the mozzies out of the room, most nights we didn't even need the fan on. The room was quite old and basic but was very well maintained and clean. The rooms are cleaned daily and bottled water is complementary every day. The hotel has an array of more expensive rooms if required but can't comment on what they are like other than they appear to be newer and are nearer the beach. The food in the hotel is very good and well priced and the swimming pool is very clean and warm. The hotel fronts right onto Klong Dao beach which is the nearest beach to Saladan about 15 minutes walk away. We took a motorbike around the island and Klong Dao was definitely one of the best on Koh Lanta, with plenty of seafront bars and restaurants but plenty of space. There are comfortable sun loungers by the pool and on the beach and the hotel provide beach towels. The hotel does appear to cater to a lot of families probably because the beach is very child friendly but there are plenty of places where you can find some adult space. All of the staff are great, very attentative, helpful and speak good English. For our stay we definitely struck lucky and don't think we would have found a better option for 600 bahts a night, we would not bother to look elsewhere if we go back to Koh Lanta, thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: If you are on a budget go for a fan room, cheap rates can be negotiated during the slow season or fo...

We arrived at sea lanta House and were shown our bungalow. It was dark, very damp and smelled of mildew. The room was cramped and the old blankets looked as if they hadn't been changed since the 70s. We thought we'd go to the beach and decide what to do after a swim. The beach was lovely, but you were charged extra by the hotel if you wanted a deck chair. We ordered some food at the tables around the pool and I was horrified by the amount of screaming kids in the pool. You literally couldn't hear yourself think. There were not enough Thai style dishes on the menu for my liking but the chicken satay I ordered was delicious.
If I had a young family and was on a budget, I dare say I would have felt differently, but I wanted some quiet time to relax and there was no peace to be found there.
We decided to leave without staying the night and the staff were very helpful and understanding. They did not charge us and helped arrange another hotel for us.
