We stayed for 3 nights at Banana Garden. The hotel is at the northern most part of Koh Lanta which is actually the busiest. As you go further south the beaches get more beautiful and a lot less crowded. However, Banana Garden proved to be the perfect base to explore the island from. The room was very cheap and clean and they had motorbikes for rent at the hotel which was very convenient. Ilene was amazing and so helpful planning our trips along the way and even watched our luggage for a week whilst we went diving. The service was incredible and even though I personally preferred the beaches further south I can highly recommend Banana Garden.

The hotel was accidently overbooked and had no room for us. We did not know this till we arrived but they had all ready rectified the situation by booking us a room at the hotel immediately adjacent at the same rate. Banana Garden allowed us to enjoy their breakfast (included in the stay) and to use all their amenities as the our hotel had none. Banana Garden staff was warm and friendly. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy even though we were not technically their guests! The views of the ocean from the deck are incredible! Hoping to go back some day and actually stay in the hotel!

My wife and I stayed there for 37 nights to kick off my retirement and then came back for another 8 nights with the rest of the family. This is a small friendly little place where you can relax and simple be. The staff are second to none and the ladies who run it, Oil (manager) & Matta (owner), are simply amazingly kind. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the restaurant will cook almost anything you like....We felt at home and never wanted to leave the place....and still consider that place to be the best place we have stayed...rustic, simple and comfortable

The place is right on the beach and in the centre of Klong Dao. Lots of shops nearby and its really pleasant....a different world altogether. There is an amazing bar next to it called The Indian and we spent most nights there.

The sea is calm but must watch out for jelly fish as we saw some small orange ones and a couple of large blue ones....

Koh Lanta is changing fast so go there now as 5 years from now it will be like any other place in Thailand......There is a great pizzeria, Bajen Pizzeria in Long Beach on the main road....take a tuk tuk.

We just spent 3 nights at Banana Garden a truly memorable place . A big thank you to Irene and Laura the two lovely Thai girls that manage the resort. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the girls and all the staff are always smiling . Laura runs the restaurant which turns out some amazing Thai food at night the dining moves to the beach when you can choose from the extensive menu or have fresh fish or prawns on the BBQ . Irene will take care of any needs like trips , bike hire etc , she always goes that extra mile to find the best deals and make sure you get what you want . For sure will be back easily the best place on this beach .

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool or fitness centre but the TA site would not let me correct my mistake shou...

Loved our 7 night stay at Banana Garden, the staff was very attentive and friendly. Every morning when I sat outside on the little deck they were there within minutes asking if I wanted breakfast! We loved being steps away from the beach; we could leave our bungalow without shoes and be walking in the sand in a minute. The restaurant was excellent; they have the best green curry on the island. We didn’t eat there all the time as we wanted to try different places along the beach and on the main road (where the food is cheaper). We stayed in room C3 and our teenagers stayed in C2, both great spots. I guess my only complaint would be that I only had a hot shower once. For some reason the water never really got hot. Most days I didn’t mind but there were a few days I would have loved a hot shower. The AC worked very well, most of the time we just had the fan blowing, as I don’t like it too cold in my room. To the right of Banana Garden (on the beach) is a bar called “The Indian”. The owner Pas is awesome, very friendly, always has a smile on his face, and makes everyone feel welcome. He sits down and has a conversation with everyone that comes to his place…There are massage spots along the beach…. we tried out KUM Massage and SIAM massage (right beside The Indian Bar) and both we great. We loved hearing the sound of the waves while receiving at relaxing oil massage. There are several mini-marts along the beach so great if you want to buy snacks, drinks, etc. All in all, Great Island, great stay, great people. I would definitely recommend and would stay again.

We spent 3 nights at Banana Garden Home before heading back to Bangkok. We were more than happy to have spent the last few days here. The bungalows (we had B1) are great, nice and simple, but still comfortable. The restaurant, backing onto the beach, serves great Thai food (as well as western, I noticed). While the place itself is lovely, what makes it perfect are the great hostesses Lola (restaurant manager) and Oil (bungalow/bookings manager). Both are very welcoming and friendly - giving true meaning to the Home in Banana Garden. On our last night, they took us out with some other guests to see a local market and fair that was running for the Kings Birthday. Such experiences you won't find when staying in the bigger, busier resorts.
Banana Garden Home has bungalows set in lovely gardens, not 30 seconds walk to the beach past the restaurant. Klong Dao Beach in general does seem quite popular with families with kids, and Banana Garden Home was also host to quite a few, but this didn't turn out to be a downfall as I initially feared - it was peaceful and quiet, nicely laid back. And the Indian bar next door does attract a nice mix of clientele come evening time (amazing cocktails by the way, not to be missed!). I don't think there is a better bar on Ko Lanta and it's literally next door (and easy roll home). Siam massage, also next door, provided some hardcore but amazing Thai massage followed by a much needed foot scrub. Aside from the diving we did with Blue Planer Divers, we never ventured more than a few steps away from Banana Garden Home.
I can highly recommend this place if you want truly friendly, helpful service, in a lovely, comfortable setting, all for great value for money. The beach, although shallow, is truly beautiful, and sunsets to match (which we missed unfortunately due to some unseasonal weather).

just returned from this resort and it was the best place we stayed in all our travels through thailand. the staff were so friendly and accommodating. the resort is on a beautiful beach which is so relaxed and lined with restaurants, bars and even a minimart. we found the food at banana garden to be superior than others as it was so fresh and tasty. there is a daily fish barbeque. oil,on reception, was brilliant. she organised our taxi at 6am on leaving day and came in at 5.30 to make sure all was ok. lola laughs most of the day and plays with the kids. i can't recommend this place highly enough. our only regret is that we were not there long enough. hopefully next year
