The place is quite far from the airport, which is 3 hours journey. The staff here are friendly and always service with a smile. Our room is a triple room with one queen size bed and one single bed. Only basic amenties in the room and no hairdryer or adapter available. However, room is clean and comes with two bottles of complimentary water daily. The location is quite far away from the city and is more suitable for people for scuba diving and relaxation. There is no kettle in the room so it is advisable to have the water fill up or purchase from the minimart nearby as the restaurant and reception will be closed after 10pm. Buffet breakfast served between 7am to 10am. Loads of choices such as fried eggs, scamble eggs, ham, noodles and fried rice. Outside of the hotel the place is quite dark at night. However, it is walking distance to some of the restaurant and bar, but it's quite quiet around the area after certain time.

Room Tip: choose rooms that are facing the beach and away from the pool.

The marketing for this hotel implies it's a high class hotel with great service, beach huts, and good food. The nicest thing you will see is the brochure.

The service manager is the rudest person I have encountered in Thailand. The food is cold and of a 1-2* standard. The accomodation does not look like the rooms in the brochure or advertised online.

It's selling itself as a 4/5* but it's a 2-3* - if you get lucky and aren't too bothered about the breakfast or facilities.

We chose this resort for 1 night in the beach front villa as the sales lady in Ao Nang was saying that it is lovely place as the advertisement pictures show. Upon our arrival I felt that the hotel area was not well maintained and rather poor quality. We were escorted to our room which was truly dissapointing, nothing like we had expected. Run down beach chair in the balcony, balcony light out of order. The room itself in good size but very basic. Villa is right next to the beach but also right next to the main road. (behind the villa) In room safety box had no instuctions how to use and seemed not well secured. No minibaar in room and fridge not kept cold. Bathroom was a disaster. Very run down and VERY basic. Stains throughout the shower floor, also the provided shampoos were half used.

Also we had a meal in the hotel restaurant after a long day of travel behind us. Staff got the order very wrong at first. Eventhough I thought I made simple choice by ordering set menu 1 for 2. At the end we got the food and it was ok and there was plenty of it. Breakfast was ok... nothing special. Nice to have morning coffee on the beach.

Would not recommend the hotel especially with the price. We paid 4000baht for 1 night

-The rooms and facilities are very old, very different from their advertising pictures.
-Breakfast have only vegetable, bread and egg. There are no ham, sausage or others meat. Moreover it is very poor taste.
-The Service Manager is very rude, impolite manner and speaking, no service mind.
I do not recommend, you can find the better place in same price.

In short, dont waist your time here! There are lots of resorts further south with much better beaches! staff are rude, unfriendly & treated us like we were inferior! There spoke in Thai when we complained and laughed while we walked away!!! Unfortunetely we booked four nights so we had no choice but to stay! Pictures compared to the real thing is completely different!!!!! Terrible furniture, bathroom was old and dirty, we stayed at way cheaper before and the bathroom was much better than here! We complained and they said no one complains about the 'Garden Superior' ha ha! should have read ALL the complaints on expedia before booking! dont stay here! much better places further south!

Room Tip: if you have the money go for the Villa - we didnt! but the service is terrible so I would not even b...

We spent 7 nights at Amantra renting two hotel rooms at the back of the resort. Rooms were very clean and quiet. Balcony on third floor had a lovely sea view. We were very happy with the overall service. There were one or two mix-ups with restaurant orders but this was due more to the language barrier than any lack of service. The young staff worked hard and were super friendly and good humoured. They provided lots of laughs with their high-jinks.
The location, right on the beach is wonderful. The pool is very clean and well-used by families with youngsters. There are numerous restaurants and bars a short stroll down the beach. We really enjoyed the quieter, family atmosphere of Amantra. Kudos to the staff for working so hard to make our stay a terrific and very fun experience.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor of the apartments which was very quiet with a superb view.

I stayed at Amantra Resort in January 2012. I really loved the place, it's right by the beach with a beautiful view of the sea from the hotelroom. The atmosphere at the hotel was very relaxing, the staff was friendly and ready to help with anything, they even spoke english very well, especially Chan from the reception. I used to spend my days walking on the beach and drawing at the restuarant and bar, the staff at the restuarant and bar was very friendly and made the atmosphere great, I had the most fun sitting at the bar talking with the staff from the bar (Aung, Noi, Mark) and also the hotel guests that made me company on those warm sunny days when you wanted to take a break from the sunshine with a nice cool drink. I'd love to visit amantra resort again and would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and take it easy.

Room Tip: I thought the rooms that were beside the pool and spa were very good.
