We tried to book a room while in ko lanta but the staff were. Very unhelpful just told us to look at the beach view villas/rooms really we could only have the ones that thomson customers did not want and do not book villa 101 as this has a view of a tree and the massage beds . Think this hotel scores high because probably somebody is manipulating the scores in resort also a bit overpriced

The room was a very good size, and the location of the resort was great with it being right on the beach. The beach is beautiful and quiet and the restaurant sells some very good local thai food. The hotel is slightly pricey considering what you get compared to the rest of our stay in thailand but never the less would definitely recommend the place.

We pre booked a beach view room but on arrival up graded to a beach front bungalow as they looked so lovely. The bungalows are clean but the bathrooms could do with modernising. The view are fabulous especially at sunset. The beach is quiet and really nice. The massages seem to be a bit dearer than along the beach. The breakfasts are ok nothing special. There are several restaurants along the beach a short walk away and would recommend the Pirates bar. we would recommend and will return for the views and quiet environment.

Room Tip: Book a beach front bungalow!

Ordered a second row bungalow...with side views...the hotel room we were shown had nothing to do with the pictures on the brochure...could have been taken years ago...the furniture is particularly cheap (ikea at best) and the flat screen LCD, seemed to have eaten its way to an old CRT, with the Satelite TV, offering 2 English speaking channels. The bathroom is very shabby but it doesn't stop there...most of the thai food was excellently priced and quite tasty...but when I ordered a rare fillet (which I had overly explained that I don't want it overcooked) which was displayed on the menu as a main course. They then returned with a minute steak (served before our starters) with a layer of fat around it, over cooked. So clearly i complained politely to the waitress that it wasn't what was being advertised...they took the plate away, and returned it to the kitchen, only to return the same steak I had cut through, covered in sauce, which I returned again. The manager came to my table stating that the picture (which clearly marked what i was ordering) was there for advertising purposes only (FALSE ADVERTISING that is) and claimed that what I ordered is what I was served. By then adding 'if you're not going to pay for it, you better eat it' !?!..shocked and appalled...and definitely won't be renewing my stay here...travellers keep away...

Beautiful Beach!! Great Staff!! Good Food!! One of our best choices on our trip to Thailand. The Amantra was awesome! We stayed almost 1 week and had a wonderful time. The staff was exceptional. The beach was very long and very quiet. The view of the sea and
The sunsets from our balcony were fantastic. Rooms were clean and the food in the restaurant was reasonable and good. Can't wait to go back!!! Thank you all!!!

Room Tip: choose beachfront bungalows!!!

We booked in here for 6 nights and when we arrived were asked to pay for all 6 nights up front which we refused to do and paid for 4 as a compromise. The accommodation is basic, wobbly shower head, bad decor, tiny bathroom. The bungalows right on the beach are in such a good spot with views out to the beautiful sea.

The breakfast is very basic and you have to hand in vouchers to get it, not the most glamorous start to the day. The breakfast area is like an aircraft hanger with no nice touches at all.

The customer service is generally lacking, every time you ask for something you feel like you are pulling teeth and it is all too much effort for them.

If you do end up spending time here there is a really nice resort right next door called Sri Lanta where we spent most of our time and would have booked into had it not been full.

The other guest at this resort were also as miserable on the whole as the staff not really respectful of other people's space and peace.

The bright side of this place is it is on an island which is not over run by tourists like Phuket. Unfortunately, there are very few restaurants, shopping, or taxi services near by. So be prepared to walk or rent a vehicle. The stated taxi prices from the hotel are double what you can negotiate a songhaew for.

We were even more displeased by recurring power and water outages, shower water which is questionable to use, lack of hot and warm shower water, and an ocean view which turned out to be of trees and a garbage. Then there was the part about constant road noise which seemed to be right outside our window.

Room Tip: Find a place further north or south.
