“The staff is great!”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

This hotel is right on the beach and has the best bar/restaurant with young trained cooks making both western and thai food really well. The bar staff is really laid back but professional. And the hotel reception staff is really helpful and professional...did not notice any of the problems other reviewers had pointed out. They had a fire show that was long compared to others seen in Ko Lanta, and much better as well...there were two younger performers that did a good job and a finale of the master, Malik. He was really good, incorporating the rhythm of music into his perfonmance...we had an air conditioned room be the beach and i guess this is one of the best beaches in Lanta and only a few people there.. Su in the reception will arrange all your trips for you anywhere and has laundry service and motorbike rental with good new bikes. It is right beside a waterfall and Elephant trekking and not far from a small town with best food and services like pharmacies and shops.. This is the place we will come back to when returning to Thailand. Thank you to everybody working there!

Very nice resort at a quite and beautiful beach in the south of koh lanta. Food is excellent and the "take it easy bar" is perfect for having a cold Chang while enjoying the sunset. Very nice and friendly stuff. Loved it.

We went to Klong Jark to get away from the masses. It was perfect for that. The staff were the most friendly and fun I met in Thailand, the beach is incredible and the restaurant had great food. The only downfall was we struggled with how basic the accomodation was. Beach bungalows seemed like a super idea but in reality it was not very comfortable. If you can deal with that then this is paradise but one night in the bungalow was enough for us. We spent 1 night and 2 days in the area which was perfect.

I was advised to stay here by a friend who had just returned from Thailand and so glad I did switch from the place I intended to stay North of Koh Lanta.
I am sure there are nice places to stay up there, but getting of the ferry shows you straight away that it is much more tourist focussed and hectic up there.
Get Klong Jark to arrange a pick up for you, very reasonable priced journey and there are so many tuk tuks and cabbies trying to hassle you when you get off the ferry (though not in an aggressive way!) it is nice to know you have someone to go to.
I pre-paid all mine through <info@scuba-fish.com>, which though are a scuba company, they can book things for you on Koh Lanta and were really helpful with things to do.
The beach huts are basic, only a cold shower, but exactly what you need (since it was 35degrees C when I was there) - I had an A/C room which I would advise, but still worked out one of the cheapest places I saw on Koh Lanta.
Owners are very friendly and helpful, not amazing English, but enough to help with onward travel etc.
I ate at the restaurant on the beach most meals and again was reasonably priced and very tasty. Breakfasts were brilliant too.
The cove itself is so quiet, most days I was the only person there - sea is beautiful and you can do a little rock climb round the left of the bay (as you look to the sea) to get to Bamboo Bay which is even more abandoned and has a lovely little bar where you can watch the sunset.
I got a tuk tuk to Sri Lanta resort one day to do early morning yoga which was nice - and stayed there for the day - the sea is really deep there and beach gorgeous, but is filled with European tourists and though much more 4/5 star treatment, did not feel real thailand - though was nice for a day-trip

Room Tip: I was in 2nd row garden view, and actually preferred it to staying in the more expensive front row b...

We booked this through a tour operator on Koh Phi Phi. Big mistake. After being showed to the bungalow I could not believe this was being described as paradise. The sheets looked dirty with plastic lino on the floor. The toilet looked like a war zone. There was no cold water and having booked for two nights we left after 1 night. Although I would recommend the BBQ especially the fish, the food on the menu was very bland with not much flavour. Chicken Fried Rice and Pad Thai could not have got much worse. Also, the chef seemed to forget to cook a few dinners (Doesn't exactly make for excellent dining for two). Although some of the staff were helpful, most appeared disinterested in what they were doing, and trying to order a bottle of coke or more than one bottle of beer was a chore in itself. After deciding this was not the place for us, we checked out and asked to pay what we owed. Only to find out that when we were in the taxi, the owners were calling to say that we had not payed our bar bill. Given that we specifically asked for the bill and to pay everything we owed (they produced various receipts) I can definately say that as an overall experience this was an absolute disaster.

The beach is lovely. But there are only two taxis a day from there at 7am and 11am. I would definately recommend staying at Lanta Pavillion - amazing sunsets and cool amazing bars but still very chilled out.

We stayed at anda Lanta resort which was a much higher standard than here - but also cost more.
We did eat here though but it was only average and the beer was more expensive than at the sunset bar at the end of the beach where happy hour starts half an hour earlier and lasts all night!
The bar staff are friendly and the guy who wears the rasta hat does a party trick of fire juggling which is pretty impressive at night and was great beach entertainment.
The tours from here are the same as the other resorts offer but at the cheapest rates and the lassie that acts as the tour agent is really nice and helpful.

We came for just 2 nights but we stayed 5 days and did not want to leave, but we had to go home.

As in previous ratings there are pro's and con's with this place but for us the plus side outweighted the bad.

Bungalow, yes very basic maybe for that price but we were there in high-season. Do not frek-out if you sometimes find some bug's in the bathroom but they are easily removed.
The place manager is awesome, helpful and friendly and speaks perfect english. The restaurant makes good food especially when there is the fish-grill. the bar is toatlly ok especially during happy-hour even if they are somewhat expensive.

The beach is really great, not too many people, calm, welcoming and nice sand and water ( and try the restaurant at the end of the beach too ). easy to try on of the tours as they pick you up at the beach. ( do the 4 island trip).

overall we had a great time and met nice people.
