“Great resort and a relaxing week”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Crown Lanta is an excellent resort that caters to the entry 5 star guest. Pool facilities were fantastic, we stayed in a pool access room and loved swimming directly from our room. Breakfast was great, be sure to order cappacino coffee (we only were made aware they were available towards the end of our stay). Staff were extremely helpful. There are mini carts dropping you regularly around the resort during the day. The cliff restaurant served wonderful thai food - probably the best duck red curry I've tasted. There is a frequent shuttle bus to Saladan for shopping and going to other restaurants. The private beach is surrounded by rockpools and is virtually deserted for much of the day. Reggae bar was very nice for sunset - however order your drink early during happy hour as they take time to get served. There is a tour tesk for all activities around the island and transfers. We did the Time for Lime cooking class, Crown Lanta organised all of this for us. The mini bar in the room was very reasonably priced. All in all a lovely week's stay at a well located resort that provides an extremely relaxing experience.

We a had a splendid time at this resort. The facilities were great - spacious gym, free kayaks, swim up bar, comfortable sun beds. In particular the yoga sessions on the beach are a must! The instructor, Lindsey, is helpful and knowledgable.. and patient considering we were novices!

There's also a private beach, many guest chose to stay by the pool so often had this to ourselves.

Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Pay extra for the upgrade.... well worth it to see the sunsets from your bedroom.

I totally agree with the detailed review by Krystal F. We stayed 4 nights in mid April and had a wonderful time. The raggae bar on the beach was magic and the service was always first class. I would say the resort is 5 star Thai hotel ie if you want the Ritz go to Pimilai resort and pay twice the price, if you want a 5 star Thai hotel that has everything you need to relax in beautiful surrounds with lovely Thai hospitality you will be very happy with this lovely resort. we had a sunset villa which was beautiful

Room Tip: We stayed in a sunset villa which was beautiful. There are 2 sunset pool villas more money worth it...

I am currently staying at this hotel for 6 nights. So far the experience and stay here has been great! We got free transfer to the hotel and upon check in, offered a welcome drink. the resort is very quiet and well kept. The room we are in is large, has nice hot shower, a comfortable bed, is very clean, has no bugs or pests, good working wifi, good working/quiet air conditioner, nice balcony overlooking the ocean.

The pool is very clean and has a swim up bar. The resort is large and has a lot of hills, but there are shuttles offered for those who don't like walking. There is a fitness centre with an adequate amount of equipment.

Although we prefer eating in town, there are 2 restaurants and a bar overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was included with our stay and had a large selection of fruit, bread, Thai, eggs, pancakes and breakfast food. It was very good! The restaurant staff were very attentive.

3 times a day, there is a shuttle that takes you into Saladan. I walked from town back to the resort and it only took 20 min (but it is a quieter road... So if you're female don't walk alone on this road . I was followed by a Thai man on his motorbike who kept circling me and then kept stopping and harassing me every time no other cars were around. So instead of walking the last 5 min I flagged down a tuk tuk, who safely took me back to the resort no charge). Yet, Saladan town it is very safe.

The staff at this resort are attentive and listen to concerns. My safe was not working so I phoned the desk and within minutes they arrived to help me. Also, this morning I overheard a woman complaining to the general manager about petty concerns that 'ruined' her stay....and he listened attentively, apologized and provided them with free dinner.

I have stayed a lot of different types of resorts and hotels in Thailand and South East Asia and I would recommend this hotel to others and hope to return one day.

This is a great place to relax and the hotel itself is very nice with staff that were impeccable for good service. They've also taken on board the feedback from the reviews as I didn't recognise a lot of the comments e.g. they have buggies so they will happily drive you different parts of the hotel if you don't fancy the hill or stairs and they also don't just have Evian water. Customer service was excellent in the restaurants and bars and front desk were also very helpful and informative. I also saw they were very professional and patient with a difficult customer who wanted to know where his room was and how he gets there all before they'd provided his family with a welcome drink before showing him to the room!

My new wife and I stayed for a week and we would definitely return here.

I'm currently at this so called 5 star hotel sitting on a scruffy old towel, facing the unmanned pool bar trying to ignore all the warped, uneven, unsightly decking.
There is no doubt this place was probably a beautiful hotel, it's set in beautiful lush grounds, the pools at the lower half are excellent and the buildings look great. But.....
Where is the manager to this hotel, the staff seem clueless and clearly have not be given any customer service training. The front lobby is a disaster, suitcases everywhere and there doesn't seem to be any generic uniform on display. The once (I'm sure) lovely huge pond with water feature is now very much unloved, a spaghetti like array of plumber pipes hang out the pond displaying the ugliest water feature. Anyway I could go on but the point I am getting to is this could be so much better if a half decent manager made simple improvements, trained staff, sorted out the foul smell around the grounds and have the staff a bright new uniform. Screw down some of that mangled decking, put staff behind bars and make improvements to the restaurants.
Bitterly disappointed to spend two days here, if you get it cheap then it's fine but go here expecting 3 star hotel and service. Hopefully an investor or new manager will come in a turn this place around.
