“Great tranquil setting with hosts who really care.”

We were most pleasantly surprised on arrival at Lantawadee although not directly on a beach the location is pretty good. We were met by Moo who is 1 half of the management team, the other half being Gai & here lies the reason why staying at Lantawadee is such a lovely experience. The accommodation is spotless, the open-air bathroom is simple yet an experience you will truly enjoy. The food at the resort is superb but all of this pales compared to the care that is afforded to you by Moo & Gai roll on feb 2010 we will be back for 2 more weeks. Joe & Nia

We only stopped at Lantawadee for a fruit shake and a bite to eat but the lady who started chatting to us when we arrived convinced us that this was the right place to stay so we ended up looking at one of the rooms and then staying for it's friendlyness, charm and hospitality. Wan (pronounced 'One') is an amazing personality and she seems to greet and engage everyone who stops by, be it backpacker or delivery man, she is exactly the kind of friendly non-pushy friendly chatter you need in a land where you don't know the language or the people and she made us feel right at home the moment we met.

Ok enough about the people, the place itself is situated off the main road about halfway between said road and the beach about 1/5 of the way down Ao Phrang (long beach). The main entrace hall really doesnt look up to much, but the rooms round the back are something else entirely. Little wooden bungalows with stepped board floors and verandas, hammocks on every covered porch, and inside the room smelled fresh and clean, a quick toot about the room proved that it was spotless. The rear door to the room opens into an open roofed garden bathroom, which, when we arrived seemed to sound like crackling electricity. This truned out to be huge bees in the trees above diving frmo flower to flower, I have to say sitting on the pot in the open air watching the wildlife is a rather cathartic experience.

The place consists of smoewhere between 10 and 20 bungalows (I'm not sure exactly) and when we looked around one evening more fully a heavy rain had just fallen and the place was alive with the sound of frogs in the little ponds that dot the grounds and the place felt alive and very beautiful. The front hall is open to the air and had short kneel/lie down tables at the front and more conventional sit up tables inside and out, some under little coconut roofed huts full of geckos that call to each other and race ebove your head. There is a pool table and tv out front and almost every evening the owner (and sometimes his tiny son who can't be more than 6) are happily chatting and playing pool or cooking food for guests that seem to gravitate together and socialise here from the moment they arrive.

We didn't stay long enough to experience the spa as we were moving on from a bad experience with a previous guest hous but we genuinely wished we had visited Lantawadee first as the place was really something else. You won't find friendlier faces anywhere and if you miss this place then you will regret it, it may not be perfect or as up market as the other resorts that cater for package tours but it more than makes up for it in other ways. We would not hesistate to come again or recommend to friends who were on their travels in this part of the world.
