Red Snapper does more than just tapas but it's great to able to pick and choose from the various dishes and share with family and friends. Lots of home
made delicacies as well as imports (carpaccio, merguez, different hams and cheeses etc) and a good wine list. Child friendly, laid back atmosphere. We go at least once every time we visit Ko Lanta.

We went way out of our way to eat at Red Snapper since I had read about it on several travel blogs. SO WORTH IT. We totally over ordered because there were so many good recommendations. Here are a few of our favorite dishes:
-Quesadillas
-Barbecue ribs
-Roast duck
-Thaipirinha (amazing!)
We enjoyed the evening ambiance and service was good. Worth the trip there while on Koh Lanta. I'm still thinking about the meal! Highly recommend a reservation as we saw several turned away when dinner got busy.

Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes, but we found the tapas & desserts quite average, especially for the price (& small portions - the salads were tiny).

We had higher expectations after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. The location & atmosphere of Red Snapper are nice though. Beautifully located in a garden behind the main road and with relaxed Buddha bar music on the backgrond - and a single Dutch song (the owners are Dutch).

We are here after Red Snapper was recommended to us by a friend who had previously visited Ko Lanta. I was advised to book as it gets busy so I did so via email, receiving a prompt and friendly reply.
On the night we arrived we were the only ones in the restaurant but it soon filled up, keeping the efficient and friendly waiting staff busy.
The restaurant is in a tropical garden with intimate lighting, and is towards the south end of Long Beach.
The menu has both tapas style small dishes and larger main courses so we opted for a couple of the tapas as a starter then had mains.
We had bread, olives and aioli and a Parma ham and mango salad to start which were both great. Then we had duck breast and steak which were both not only huge but delicious as well. The only negative was that the steak was ordered medium but was more like medium rare. This in no way affected the delicious flavour though.
This restaurant is one of the more pricey ones around but the excellent service and food reflects that, and it is still much cheaper than a similar meal in the UK would set you back. 2 starters, 2 mains, a shared dessert, coffees and a bottle of wine set us back around 2500b which I felt was reasonable. Do come here if you visit Ko Lanta but make sure to book!

Our expectations weren't high having spent a lot of time in Spain. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The garlic prawns were flavourful and tender, and the croquettes were also very good.

It's a little out of the way south of Long Beach, but worth it if you're looking for a change.
