We got a nice room with hot shower (double bed room 500 B)! Very friendly staff (they will help you with everything, English speaking staff) ! Excellent food! Cheap to sleep and eat. We loved staying there!

i stayed in sonyas for a long time(3 month) and had mostly a really good time. it's a good place to meet other fellow travellers.
location is really good. beach 2min., 7/11 1min.
the doorm is on the 1. floor with a little balcony and has 5 doormbeds.
stuff is nice and helpfull. the restaurant downstairs is very convenient and good.
in the peakseason(jan-feb) it was allways fully booked, so it might be a good idea
to book ahead.
btw- this mentioned guy ''luke'' is gone.
the lowpoint is the bathroom. bucketshower and no sink. it's clean but it
could be easily improved.

Stayed here for two nights in the dorm. I was alone in the dorm when I arrived in the low season. The staff gave me a good service and booked my ferry further to Phi Phi. It is a great family and they are always there to help you.
The restaurant is great. Some of the best thai food I have had so far.

You can walk to the beach in five minutes, but it is not a good beach at all. They can also arrange a tuk tuk for 50 Bath to Long Beach five kilometers to the north.

I enjoyed my stay!

When I first arrived everything was ok and he kept the whole nice to meet you act up. After I had boooked extra nights and paid, this is when his dont even care about the guests nature appeared. He embarassed a couple of my friends in the restraunt whilst they was eating because one of them forgot that they was going to grab a bite to eat with him. He then started to be really rude and asking them to get out of the restraunt. He puts on an act and he cant be trusted.

He is ruining the hostel for his family becuase they were so nice and helpful, even the younger kids they helped out around the restraunt, he is letting them all down.

I didnt have any bad experiences with the other guests there, made some good friends. The food from the restraunt is amazing especially the masaman thai curry, but my review is based on the bad experience I had there called Luke.

250THB for a private room? Hell's yes!

Travelling alone? Not to worry, it's 150THB for a dorm bed (limited as they like to keep things personal, there's only 6 beds).

A family run guesthouse, the staff are friendly & accommodating.
The rooms all use a fan and they are adequate as the nights are cool.
It is not uncommon to awaken to the sound of roosters crowing and birdsong.
Free wifi is available at the establishment & you need only to ask for them to turn it on if you're an early riser.

Hungry tummies can get their fill from the downstairs restaurant & the food served are good & value for money. Getting around on Ko Lanta is also easy, rent a moped from Sonya's for 20THB a day or just walk out and hail a tuk tuk.

Stayed for 3 nights, was able to meet other travelers at Sonya's who were staying or walking in for meals.

Only problem I had was with the mosquitoes at night, but a few squirts from my insect repellent solved it. Travelers from outside of Asia might not be accustomed to the Thai Styled shared toilet. There's no water heater, who'd need it in this weather. You flush via pouring water from a bucket. So be warned if you're the fussy sort!

Tip: walk to the beach behind sonya's for the restaurant, they hav hammocks & little huts for lazing about for the afternoon. Get a massage from the ladies at the hut next to the restaurant & you will be pampered to the sound of waves crashing on the shore.

Tours & transfers can easily be arranged at Sonya's although I can't vouch for the service.

Room Tip: The private room (only one available) is not advertised, you have to ask for it. In the event of a b...

Sonya guesthouse it's excelent budget accommondation in Koh Lanta. Friendly family staff it's helpfull and charming. Food served it's amazing tasty and not so spicy if you do not want. Dishes size it's really huge and a most of thai food they served with vinegar salad. Burgers are served extra with chips and salad I was surprised for list of these additions. Room looks simply but it's big and clean. In room provide you mosquito net, free cold drinking water, hot tea or coffee, tv and audio 5.1 in other room.
Sometimes this place it's really busy but manager Luke always looks at all. I have been there severals time and I can not imaginate come back to Koh Lanta without visiting and sleeping in Sonya.

We didn't stay here, but ate here several times.

The food is fantastic. Good sized portions and very, very good value for money. Pleasant service. It was our children's (5 and 7) favourite restaurant in Klong Khong.
Try the spring rolls and the salads - yum!
